Loved this! So many good tips! I just googled that the patron saint of psychologists is Saint Dymphna (which you also mentioned!) - I had no idea! Will be researching her. Also a thing that's popular saint-wise here in Poland is to consider your name saint as your patron - the saint who shares the same name as you. Often that is how people choose names for their babies here. I'm Joanna Maria so my two patron saints are Joan of Arc and Mother Mary and I've always been very proud of that as I resonate with both of them a lot :)

My grandfather who was from Avellino looked exactly like Padre Pio! Ill never forget the first time I came across his picture,,,I got chills up and down my whole body !

Something just clicked for me with this video. Mother Mary has always had a presence in my life so I know she’s one of my guides! When you were talking about seeing signs from saints who are reaching out to you, I thought of a book that always pops up in every bookstore I go into…The Body Keeps the Score. And I don’t find it in obvious places. I found it in a used book box at a record store, in a completely different genre section, or hidden behind some books. I googled the patron saint for trauma and it’s Saint Dympha. Now I finally understand…thank you.
I found a saint medal of Saint Christopher at work, I don't drive or travel much but as soon as I picked it up... it felt different and I've been looking into Folk Magic ever since.

I am speechless..my mother was pregnant with her 5th and older and when in labor the cord was wrapped around my sisters neck twice and things got scarey. My mother prayed to the blessed virgin mary that if her baby was saved she would name her after her. And so my baby sister, was named mary.
The Saint that has been haunting me all in my life is St. Ignatius. I heavily relate to St. Don Bosco as my fave since I am a teacher and love working with kids. A great video! 🤍🤍🤍
I found myself drawn to Italian folk magic after finding out I have some Italian ancestry. I don't know exactly where my family is from in Italy because I was only raised knowing my Celt ancestry. I'm an disabled artist and a singer who has lots of struggles so this is super helpful, so thank you so much for putting this up

This video popped up again and it reminded me of the time i found relics and holy cards novena books of padre pio, st dymphna and st Anthony all for free in my local Catholic thrift store i picked all of it up and not knowing three days later I'd have a serious car accident and need those three saints to support me throughout recovery. I've found the saints come to us like you mentioned in the most unexpected places

I was looking through my grandmother’s old photos when I noticed a picture of Saint Jude on the wall behind her. I started looking into him , given I have been interested in my family’s old forgotten practice.
One night , on my way home, I accidentally got off several bus stops too early, so I walked the rest home. On the way a closed store had a single light shining on a Saint Jude statue. From that day on I taken him as my patron saint .
My main and first patron is St Catherine of Alexandria...things like candles/prayer cards/statues of her are harder to find, maybe because she got demoted for a bit by having her feast removed in 1969 before being reinstated in 2002. (I do get the impression she's a little salty about that. One of the 14 holy helpers, one of the most popular medieval saints..) but I found a wonderful recording of a medieval liturgy composed for her and I play it for her. She seems to really like it. One thing recently was that there was a family wedding with a really difficult member who had made a massive scene at the last one. I was praying in the car it was going to go smoothly, we got to the town where it was going to be held and we drive by a church dedicated to her down the street from the venue. I knew then it was going to be ok.

Wow, thanks so much. I'm so glad I watched ♡ Very practical & encouraging tips and I feel empowered to move forward with this. Saint Brigid is already one of my primary Saints, but now that I've watched this, I'm very interested in discovering more. Saint Joan of Arc has also always been an absolute favorite of mine, and Mary Magdalene. My Italian ancestors were from Atripalda, so the patron Saint of that town is Saint Sabato. I look forward to learning more about him. I have lots of other ancestral backgrounds, so now I want to find some saints connected to those places. Ahh... so many options 😄😇 Grazie!!!!
Oh! As you were talking about the thrift store, I remembered that I had found a figurine of a Quebecois or Acadian Saint... I think possibly Saint Anne, but not sure. Much of my ancestry is French Canadian, but now I know this Saint was calling out to me. This was years ago and the figurine is in my Genealogy boxes, so I hope I didn't offend her by not acknowledging her.
Also! I learned that my great grandfather was part of the Third Order of St. Francis for 40 years and made hundreds of rosaries, so apparently I also I have inherited Saint Francis! Going to look him up now and learn more 📿
Thank you for this video! I grew up very close to the saints; a good portion of my family are Portuguese and having a relationship with one or more patron saint is a huge part of Portuguese culture. For many personal reasons I left the Catholic Church and converted to the ancestral religion of my dad and my maternal grandmotherʻs families, Judaism. The Portuguese in my family are Anusim, in Portuguese we are called "Marranos", we were Jews who practiced Catholicism in public and tried to carry on our Jewish faith in private. The Portuguese side of my family also passed down a form of folk healing called Curandeirismo. Late in life, three years ago, I was called to follow my family tradition and become a curandeiro/benzedeiro with the blessing of my 94 yr old mother, who didnʻt want the tradition to die out in our family. I are up with and have always practiced Portuguese folk magic all my adult life, even when I converted to Judaism. It has been difficult because sometimes to practice both Catholic folk magic and my religious faith. In my spiritual court I have a number of saints: St. Michael the Archangel because most of the Portuguese in my family come from the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores, I inherited St. Theresa of Lisieux because my maternal grandmother who was a benzedeira, a healer who cured praying to the saints, had her as her patron saint, St Francis of Assisi and St. Clare, who are both patron saints honored in my family and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, because she is the patron of the village on the island of Madeira where my paternal grandmotherʻs family came from. But two years ago I experienced a saint calling out to me. I had heard of this, but I had never experienced it before. I have had ancestors come to me and tell me what saint to pray to for a person who comes to me for a healing or a candle work. But this was a saint who reached out. In my traditions we have groups of the dead who are not related to us in our spiritual court, and Gypsies are one of the courts in my spiritual practice. We are lucky in my city because we have a cemetery where a number of Roma royalty are buried as well as many Roma people. I work with a couple of spirits in the Roma section of the cemetery. One night, after I had gone to the cemetery, I was browsing CZcams and suddenly I saw a video of the Roma pilgrimage in France every year of St. Sara al Kali, St. Sara the Black, who is the patron saint of the Roma people. That night I saw her in a dream and she told me to honor her. I searched and I searched but I could not find any images of her for sale except for very expensive statues. I got a huge pull to put her name into Ebay and found many statues I could not afford. Just when I was about to give up I found a seller who was selling a collection of her uncleʻs saints; he was a priest in the South of France who collected hundreds of images of saints, among them a small statue of St. Sara from her church in Provence. I could not afford it, but something told me to make an offer. I offered what I could afford and the seller wrote me back and asked me my interest in St. Sara. I told the seller about my dream. She wrote back and accepted my offer, which was 200.00 below her asking price. She shipped to me free. She said her uncle served for many years a parish with a large number of Roma people. He had several statues of St. Sara that were given to him, this one being the smallest and the one he kept in his bedroom. He developed a great love of St. Sara and told his niece not to sell her statues when she liquidated his estate unless she was sure "that the saint had chosen to go with this person." I thought I would share this very personal example from my life with you on a patron saint choosing you. God bless you for your work. You have no idea how your book helped me when I first stated being trained to carry on my family tradition. I am now the 5th generation curandeiro in my family to do so since my great great grandmother came to Hawaiʻi from Sao Miguel in the 1880s.

This is such a helpful video. I work in a hospice charity shop and had a stamp fall out of a book which was of Saint Louise De Marillac which when i googled was the patron saint of charity work ! I do believe the saints make contact when they need to! I will take on your tips from this video!

I absolutely love this video. I did not know the patron saint of the US is the blessed Mother. Ironically the catholic school I attend as a child was named Stella Maris… star of the sea… which honors our blessed Mother. In listening to another video recently, the gentleman was speaking of Mary and referred to Stella Maris… which kind was kind of an ahh-ha moment. well now that light bulb is seriously shining bright.💡 thank you💜

My Calabrese great-grandparents are from Santa Caterina dello Ionio, so Catherine of Alexandria is one of my family’s saints. I have saints in my life I chose, like Saint Engrácia and Saint Dymphna, but then there are saints who found me: Saint Rita of Cascia and Saint Teresa of Ávila. I love them all for different reasons and I’m so grateful they’re in my life 🧡❤️🔥
EDIT 1: On one trip to a used bookstore, I thought to myself “I’d really like to find the writings of a medieval female mystic.” I walked into the store, turned the corner, and saw a biography of Teresa of Ávila staring me in the face from the top of a shelf 😂 needless to say, it came home with me! I also picked up a translation of her minor writings during the same visit.
EDIT 2: I came across Saint Rita in a bundle of holy cards I purchased on eBay. I felt really drawn to her but didn’t know why. So I read about her, and learned Rita was patron of impossible causes and victims of abuse. (also I’d recently realized just how bad my ex had been to me.) Rita came into my life exactly when I needed her. ❤️🔥

This is investing. Though I was raised Greek Orthodox, Been interested in italian folk magic lately, being half Italian as well. I know on my dad's side, from Giovinazzo, we have the town's patron saint, Santa Maria di Corsignano. St. Joseph is also a big deal. And my Nonna was very devoted to St. Anthony and Mother Cabrini. (and her name saint was St. Martha, and I was named after her soooo)
Anyway, with the religious trauma I have after leaving the church and looking into some shadow work to better my practice, I thought making peace with some of the saints would work. I wasn't expecting an actual relationship, like how I work with my entities (I'm a pagan and demonolater) , but holy fuck , I've been hit with massive St. John the Baptist energy for at least the past month. (Though I think he's been lingering quite a bit time to time both before and after I left, but that's a longer story) Though I was pretty freaked out at first, he turned out to be really awesome to work and chat with, especially over shadow work and healing my inner child.
I also attempted L'Aqua di san Giovanni this year. :3
You can also check a Catholic calendar and find out who's the saint who is celebrated on your birthday. I think you didn't mention this possibility but if you did, sorry.
My parents named me after the perfect patron saint - they were no Catholics and didn't know what they did but I'm really grateful.
St. Aloysius Gonzaga is our family patron. He was from a local wealthy family who went into the priesthood and died helping plague victims in Rome. He is buried in Rome but his skull is in my mom's hometown in her childhood church. We always went to see it when we visited as well as his childhood home. Thanks for the video. xx

I know I am not the only one with this question. But what if you find out one of the saints is in your family line? would that make them a family patron saint? She was a married queen with sons before she joined the church.
Is it okay to have relationships with saints if you're not Catholic? I'm not any variety of religious and never have been, but I got a very strong "pay attention to me" vibe from an image of St. Lucy in a Hallmark store last fall. Ever since putting holy cards of her and a few other saints I felt drawn to in a place of honor on my tarot-reading desk, I've noticed a comforting and calming presence in my life, particularly when I'm feeling anxious or depressed. (St. Dymphna is another of the saints in question.)

Yes, absolutely. I forgot to mention in my video that the most obvious would be the saints with the same name as you because, most of the time, we were actually named after the saint that shares the same name. 💙

Ciao Ysha! St. Expedite wasn't a saint in our Italian household. Perhaps he is better known now in Italy? This I do not know. As a matter of fact, very little is known about him. There's a few theories, very interesting to research. However, I was introduced to him via my Haitian neighbor when I was a teenager under the name he is known in her practice of Vodou. Some believe he is an egregore. What I can tell you is whoever or whatever he is, he is real and he is damn fast!

How do you pray to Saints and petition them? Do you use a rosary for All Saints? Do you use novena's? What is your method of petitioning Saints? Thank you for your time
Depending on my relationship with the saint I'm consulting. A new saint to me or one I don'twork with frequently, I start with a novena. A saint I've been working with for years, I have a conversation with them.
