My great grandmother was first generation. My grandmother made sure that my mother and I new our traditions before she passed away. I miss her every day and try to honor her knowledge. I’m glad to have found your book and videos to help keep me connected. My family is mostly Sicilian and Cajun on my mom’s side. It’s so interesting how you brought up St. Lucy. My grandmother was always dedicated to the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph, but called on St. Anthony often for lost objects. When I was 5, I became obsessed with St. Lucy and always felt closer to her than St. Anthony despite no one in my family calling on her. Anyway, thank you for this video. I hope you are blessed in the way you bless others.

I’ve written two prayers to St. Anthony. One is set to music in the Russian tonal chant system. The last time I used (sung) it was for a special service at the National Shrine of St. Francis in San Francisco. The other is a poem for finding a lost pet. I will send them to you privately.
I think he helped me find a companion once. I also think he helped me out of a dire financial situation years ago. Like you said he must have had my back because I didn’t ask. I had a falling out with him once. I was bitter about it for a long time but that was long ago.
My first encounter with him was when his relic was touring across the US. The Franciscans brought the reliquary with his incorrupt tongue.
I often call him “Fr. Anthony” because my saints are personal friends. I admire him for being a great preacher and teacher. The Franciscans were suspicious of educated clergy but Anthony showed them there is great value in learning.
I have a very old bronze cross with the St. Anthony Brief on it - I wore it all day yesterday.
Sometime I’ll send you a picture of my tall statue and relic where he always has a visible presence in my home.

I was in my kitchen today doing some food prep and listening to CZcams. Apparently my autoplay was on. Now I've watched many of your videos but I've never played this one because I'm not Catholic nor Italian, and really had no interest in Saint Magic.
I just let it play because I was working (and I like your channel) and it was so interesting. Your stories were wonderful and the passion you have for the subject really shines. What I love most about CZcams is the documentation of people, subjects, religions, etc. For the future. Thanks for all you do!

I'm planning onto watching that, hope I can keep up to watch it till the end. I am not a christian in any way, never practiced, but my mama always told me that if we were to ever light a candle to a saint, it would be Saint Anthony of Padua, because my great aunt used to do it all the time. I also got a reading to see which entity was reaching out, and while I was writing who I thought could be reaching out, his name just popped out in my head, when I never thought about it before. Can't wait to work with him !

I put out bread & butter for him light a candle & say his various prayer. But I practice Hoodoo & I'm a spiritualist who is very eclectic thanks for this vid. Peace, love & bliss 🙏 💗✨

Love this! There's a lovely Shrine to St Anthony near me, maintained by a group of Franciscan Friars. The grounds also has a Grotto for Our Lady of Lourdes, a small shrine for St Maximilian Kolbe, and a Rose Garden for St. Therese of Liseaux. St. Anthony was one of the first saints I befriended as a child, on account of always being scatterbrained and losing important things like school books. He has never, not once, failed to come through. 100% success rate.

This was fascinating! My great grandfather emigrated to Canada from Sicily in 1907 and married an Indigenous woman. That's quite an interesting heritage but I lost touch with it all when my parent's divorced. I'm going to pick up some books to look into it for sure. I am also a non-practicing, I guess you could say, Catholic. I stopped praying to the Saints when I left the Church but your approach has inspired me to get back in touch :) Thanks!

Loved this. Just asked St. Anthony to help find something hubby lost only the other day & right on cue it showed up randomly by that night. Then the following morning I drew an oracle card from the small Rockpool Divine Doors Cards that was about St Anthony. I had no idea there was even a card in there relating to him. He’s definitely been a main Saint I’ve grown up with and I love how you’ve talked about going deeper with him. Thanks for the great topic beautiful Grace 😘

I read the entry on St Catherine of Alexandria but the ritual/offering didn't resonate so I've been doing a lot of research on how popular she was in southern England and northern France (my heritage) before the Reformation here in the UK. What's really cool is that I discovered that pre-Reformation she was the patron saint of the city I was born and raised in! The trades in the area that she was a patron of didn't want to stop celebrating her feast day so it passed into folklore as celebrating a 'queen catherine' who was a historic patron (guess that was a lot safer!) I've been making offerings of the kinds of local foods she would have been feted with and she seems happy..
