- I didn't think I would ever make one of these videos, but that time has come. For those of you who might be on the same boat with your houseplants, sit back, grab a drink, grab a garbage bag and those dead plants that are ready to go in the trash and let's commiserate together. These plants I'm throwing away has had its last breath of life and it's time to say goodbye. Find out which plants didn't make it and are going straight into the garbage.

Be honest, which of your houseplants went in the garbage or are about to go into the garbage?! 😅
Fittonia 🤣 some to garbage some changed home
Polkadot plant. My nerve plants have always done great, though lol. There’s an orchid about to go, too.
@@bremusa322 those Polkadots are tricky for me too. I find the Fittonia a lot easier and good thing about the nerve plant is they can bounce back if you catch them in time 😅
@@brokenmoon666 awww. I like Fittonia plants
Neon pothos 🙈
See that’s what I’m talking about. You are no different from the rest of us plant parents. No judgement here. Thanks for keeping it real with us. 👍🏾😉
thank you for keeping the space safe. And I’m definitely no different than everyone, killing plants, although we try our best to not let it happen, is just part of the journey. ☺️
Yes thank you for the complete transparency!! It happens/ and it’s okay!
Why wouldn't you think he's a "normal" plant parent? Because he has a CZcams channel?! 😄 most of these youtubers know just as much as the typical person about plants!
One thing I can say, when you say dead; you mean it. Most people mean leaf drop, crispy leaves, loss of color in the leaves. As you stated, sime of these were dead beyond recognition, their own mother plants would not have recognized them.
Ha ha ha that was funny
I loved this video. It’s great to see others admit they still kill plants. The fact is living things die it’s sad but true.
I’m so glad I have a best friend, when I have a struggling plant she will take it and try to save it! So far no deaths. 🤞🏻 different lighting and humidity between the two of us so we swap and have had great success!
This sounds lovely. I love that & wish I also had a planty friend 💕
Ooh I like this idea, and great way to care for plants with friends.
@@CrazyPlantGuy YES!!! When a plant is stressing you or your overwhelmed. We just take it off the others hands. That system works great for us. 😊
I love this. I wish I have a plant friend too one day.💞
An awesome idea 👍
Growing tropical plants from the rain forests in chilly and temperate Canada, you guys deserve accolades for even keeping any alive with such conditions. Don’t be so hard on yourself please
I'm so sorry for your losses! 💔 I know how heartbreaking it is. Definitely need a good drink to help get through it. Cheers! 🍻
Appreciate you making this video, its not nice to lose plants. Im currently expecting and have had a really rough time with my pregnancy. Ive not been able to properly care for my collection and have lost a few. It really helps to see that Im not alone, that life events happen and that this is just part and parcel of having a big plant collection sometimes 💚 Hope you can recover a few from those bulbs!
you are such an inspiration and it’s encouraging to know that even you have some struggling plants - you are my PLANTY KUYA 🌴☺️
No shame Christian, you’ve been super busy. Thank you for sharing that even your planty superpowers have limits 😉
Thanks for reassuring us that it even happens to the best of us!! BUT! Congratulations on how well the store is doing!!!👍🌿
Aw thank you for sharing this. Sorry for your losses but also nice to know I’m not alone!
Honestly, thank you so much for making such a real video. I take it so personally when I let a plant die. But this is such a helpful reminder for me that it happens to the best of us.
The most hilarious video you've done to date :D...omg! I'm laughing and drinking with you. Us plant people should make a drinking game with all our dead plants! I like your feeble voice when you say 'tada'....cracking me up!!! Anyway, cheers to more plants and so happy for you to have your storefront open!
This came to me at the right time. We moved several months ago from a perfect indirect sun to a swampy and damp area with bright light. It’s an old apt with some plaster walls which added to the dampness. I have lost most of my philodendrons but my allocasias apparently like the rain forest. So sad…I run 2 dehumidifiers, fans and a/c when needed. It’s taken me months and following the weather forecasts to know how much and when to water. Thank you for your continued knowledge and support. 💚🖤💚
So sorry for the loss of your plants and I hope you can save the ones you put aside to rehab. Thank you for sharing your takeaways from your experiences. It’s funny that I also have been thinking that I should reduce the amount of extra perlite I have been using in my potting mix. Thank you for this video and for the learning experience. Much appreciated! 👌🌿🥰💚
This was me over the weekend. Life has just been too crazy busy! Happy to see the honesty!
I just got rid of about 10 plants!
Mostly Drama ones that didn't like my house anyway. I definitely have way too many houseplants. It actually looks fabulous in here without those Drama plants!🍃🌿🌱
So funny that Harli G and CPG posted a similar vibe video the exact same day!!! I’m about it. Love to see my fave plant-tubers keeping it real and literally feeling the same way about their plants! It makes me feel seen 💖
Love the honesty and not unrealistic insta vibes. 🙏🏽 Let’s be honest, I’ll watching this in the future to feel better when this happens 😂
Oh I love this video!! Thank you for sharing this and keeping it real for the rest of us. Also you still learning about the plants (perlite levels etc) which is the best part about the whole plant journey. My most recent kill was a colocasia black velvet (I think!) which i was so devo about! But you live and learn. Good luck with the whole plant shop! With love from Aussie 😊💚
I love this 😂 I‘m always very sad when I have to throw one of my beloved plants away, but the way he just says „thank you for the time byee, and cheers“😂 I love it, just reminds me to be a little less harsh with myself ☺️ and drink more😂
I’m so glad your lovely string of hearts is still alive! That would have been devastating.
I love this type of video! I would love if more plant pros made these. We're all only human! Thanks for sharing Christian ☺️
Thanks for keeping it raw and honest. I don't feel so bad now
Thank you for this video!!
I just sorted some plants to throw away/give away myself..sad, but also frees up some room for a plant refresh!
I am also drinking to the great memories with those plants and the new space for more 🥃
I just found your channel and you can't imagine my hype hearing you're in my city! i can come to your store and shop your plants IN PERSON (i'm so sick of online shopping!). Letting go of plants that passed on is hard, but it's good to know that behind the glossy screen creators are human, too.
Oh my lol I definitely feel a bit better now, I wasn’t feeling well for a few months and a “few” of my plants didn’t make it. Thank you for this video.
This was so comforting, thanks dude! I've struggled with thrips and because of them a plant care motivation as a whole. Just hate when plants just look shitty and thrips get comming back no matter what you do. Also pest prevention is overwhelming when one has a lot of pants and all should be taken care of to properly get rid of them. Treat your plants on time!
Plants that I'm saddest for are my calatheas. They are my favorites and they thrived before the bugs.
Hi, I really appreciate these kinds of videos, we all experience this happening to us, we are plant parents and some just die and I just rebuy if I really loved the plant, my Calatheas are the ones struggling now and I have killed some of those and I have managed to bring back a few, I lost my red maranta and my lemon lime maranta, I really want to get both of those again. Thanks for showing us that things like this happen and we shouldn't feel super bad, thanks for keeping it real. Sending love and hugs, bye for now.
Love this episode, the honest truth. Maybe most content creators are embarrassed on sharing their plant journey specially when plant failed to survive. Plant life is not perfect but the nicest thing is learning.
Great to see a CZcamsr be honest with their DOA's. All my philodendrons died this summer when my house was in the 90's.
Found your channel. Very helpful. I have so many plants and gaining more. Originally needed help with reviving my burgundy rubbers trees. They’re not as shiny. I’ve thrown out quite a few pants myself and gave up on some only to try again with more knowledge of care for them. Thanks for this channel.
I loved the honesty of this video. We all have done it!
Good morning to you glad you' made this video sorry to see your plants. Thank you for sharing have a blessed day
We all have plant problems! Haven’t seen you post recently but hope you’re doing well and merry Christmas
Just found and thank you it’s what I needed to hear. Been at it about a year now I now have about 40 plus plants. Keeping a Routine is key.
I feel a little better when my plants die when I throw them in the compost pile because then it feels a bit more like reincarnation or the circle of being beneficial again :D my last death was a Mojito Calocasia ♥️👋
Same! Unless there’s a disease they’re going in the compost for my garden. My last one was a triostar stromanthe.
These are my favorite videos! It makes us feel much better about our own short comings and allows us to let ourselves off the hook for finally killing the plant we struggled with for over a year.....hypothetically..... :)
Hope you are well and had a good Christmas with lots of Purchases made in your shop.
Thank you for your transparency. Sometimes I feel like. “Loser” when a plant dies. I try and watch CZcams videos and read the comments to learn. I went from 1 to 40 plants over this year. Currently struggling with my Alocasia Polly- it was doing well but the biggest leaf ( only has 3) is turning brown. I have 2 humidifiers 🤷🏽♀️
Sometimes the best you can do is trade it. Lol or propagate and try it in a different spot in your home to see if it might be lighting. Good luck!
Polly does not play fair so don’t feel bad!! My Polly was on the struggle bus for two years, only keeping 1 to 2 leaves at a time.. it recently died after I accidentally (on purpose 🤫) constantly stopped watering it… LOL! I think it needs a lot of food when putting out new leaves but I could never find the right balance
Those plants love nutrients to a crazy degree. In nature a lot of decaying plant matter fertilizes it so if you fertilize it I might to better!
@@STRcircaFKR it’s still alive and has 3 leaves 👍🏽
Soooooo sorry for your loss 🌱🍀🌿
Very informative 😂 I'm in great company nice to hear even pros mess up-😊 thanks for your honesty
OMG my cissus discolor is one of my wishlist finds. It has been living a great life outside. Now it’s time to bring it in for the winter and I’m seeing signs of distress. I hope it can survive until next summer. I have been killing plants left and right throughout my plant journey so I know your pain. Thanks for sharing.
LOL, another example of your authentic personality! RIP plants.
I have exactly the same reaction when I mess up my plantcare - I just laugh (since the alternative is to cry). I loved the video and sorry for your plants. But as you said, sometimes it just happens.
Hi Ian! Its really nice to see how you've become successful! I've known you from a young kid and your family was once closed to me! Way back to Winnipeg, we had so much fun and all those great memories with Mamang in Selkirk! Esguerra will always be in my heart❤ Will always cherished those days❤ Love you and always take care of you! Kisses and hugs😘😘😘 I miss you Ian! Hi to your mom Ate Inti❤...So proud of you!
Hahahahha. It feels so good knowing that it also happens to you, Chris. There were a few of my plants(Caladiums craze here) which came in so lush but they withered after a few weeks no matter how I tried to revive then. My hubby said I have to stop buying plants because I only kill them. LOL.
Glass domes! Life savers for traveling plant people. I can literally go a month or two!!
Expensive plants still alive after two months under the dome.
Thanks for being you. I love plants. I live in Las Vegas, and I have a big problem with house plants. I have spent allot of money replacing plants. I cant get an elephant ear plant to grow with out brown dry leafs before they grow out.
I live in Michigan and I have been bringing plants inside little by little as soon as some came in they started dying. I get it. We all can relate.
That was funny! I don’t feel so bad now😂 Threw a couple away this week too. Good news is there’s room for some new ones!😆
Your not alone my friend all my episcia collection died too all of them I don’t know what I did but one day I went out to my green house and they dried up very sad but thats part of our plantita journey thanks 🙏 for sharing watching from California stay safe
No one is judging you. You can't make everyone or any plant for that matter happy. Remember that... it is ok to be real. We love you man!!!
Hæ. Even though a sad occasion I am so happy to see your videos. My favorite plant videos => my favorite plant guy. I will make sure when I make my first trip to Canada to visit your store. And who knows - maybe get an autograph!
Cheers! I’m about to repot some plants. I also plan to propagate & heavy prune my 15 years ficus. I should have done this pruning a long time ago. Watched your video on that but I’m still scared. Thanks for your great videos.
Hi Christian, I'm struggling with my hoya polyneura. I'm trying to propagate it in water, as of today. So sad! Thank you for your honesty and this video.
lol omg I think u went and had a good cry after the video, those were some beautiful plants. Cheers
At least you are supporting the plant sellers and the growers....not to mention the compost makers, the pot manufacturers and label makers and designers so really you are supporting the economy! If it’s not a rude question, how is your plant budget.? Hello from Australia and I’ve done the same thing_ not quite to your extent. Look forward to your new plants.
!Thank you! I live in the desert so the seasonal temp changes always kill plants. Love this video
great to see another video finally :D hope to come see you soon!!!
we all know of your pain and have had this happen to us! I've trashed alocasias, prayer plants and succulents in the past year alone. 😒❤
OMG this is funny, sad and scary at the same time. Its like watching a dark comedy with a twist of horror. 😂😂😂 I enjoyed it though! Cheers 🥂
This should be a thing. Thank you for the transparency koyah.
This was honestly so relatable!!
Your performance and humor are so good lolol.
Fascinating! Sago Palm is another plant that will appear quite dead! I had two that looked dead as death. However, I took them and planted them outside for the summer and despite all the torrential rains off and on they recovered! I was shocked the worst one grew fast! Inside I could have never watered them that much without root rot! Outside is different!
….sad to see it go….CHEERS
….I regret that this one died…CHEERS
….it can happen to any of us…CHEERS
You had me laughing out so loud 😂 Sorry about your loss(es) though…we’ve all been there ! 🙏🏾🌱🌱
This makes me feel so much better lol. I'm a new plant mom and I think I have way too many
This was really interesting! Years ago, one of my family members retired, and gifted me a bunch of plants from their office. A few years after that, there was a period of time coming up where I knew I would be busy with work and other projects, so I chose to re-home many of my plants... I didn't feel bad because many of them were re-homed to ME in the first place lol!
It was nice to be able to give to other people too, because many of the recipients who took my surplus of plants were unable to afford purchasing plants for themselves, so it was a treat for them, and everything worked out!
I currently have only 2 house plants (one purchased, one gifted to me) and for the time being I'm good with that number... when I'm ready for more there's always that option.
I highly recommend giving surplus plants away to others who are willing to take them, especially during times when you're uncertain if you can make the time commitment to care for all of them... and down the line, you just might receive a gift right back at you! Share the love!
😊❤👍
I love your videos thank you so much for sharing your good and your bad times but these babies I have good days and bad days myself
You introduced me to the cissus discolor, and I have two that our thriving. Though yours has broken her earthly bonds, her legacy lives on… 😂😂😂
You laughing at heir demise is the best part of this!
I've had to say goodbye to so many plants this autumn so far! It seems every single pest on the planet has come into my house, currently dealing with a thrips outbreak which is taking out all of my favourite green babies! Any tips would be much appreciated xxx
I've had a lot of luck with the pest management mixture I found on the liquidirt youtube channel!
Buy neem oil.... Mix it with washing up liquid and water.... Spray regularly
Definitely appreciate this video to know I’m not the only plant serial killa. Also it feels great to know that I’m not the only one secretly rooting for some plants to die but then keep holding on. I’m like damn Diana I have told you bye already go ahead and let go, sheesh.
I'm currently killing hoya lisa...second one in about 2 months. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, lol. I'm also killing some calatheas...I see new growth in a couple that I chopped back to nubs. We will see how they do. Thanks for this video, so hilarious. Love that your glass is at an angle by the end of the video :D
I bought a monstera albo cutting a few weeks back. It apparently had some sun damage, and last weekend the leaf fell off, and this weekend i noticed that the stem began to rot. So i cut it down. Cleaned the roots and put it in perlite, so now ill see if it can recover.
Can't wait to see you hit the Orchid scene, very popular. Love Maria Montreal Canada 🌺🌸
Ouch that hurt my heart for you. 😳😳 love your videos. ❤️❤️
Awwww! Oh well! I can't count all the plants I've lost in the 44 years I'm into house plants! Haha, we all do it! I'm just surprised about the pony tail plant, because that one can go without watering forever!
You’re hilarious and thank you! You make me feel better about all the plants I killed recently!
You killed recently? I have killed a nice succulents mini garden which I made last month 😅
@@GardenArcX ouch!! 😂🥲
Big brain move. Exposing yourself before someone else can. 😂😂😂
My baby sunrose survived weeks of no watering during finals and sleeping for two weeks to recuperate. Haha
love the transparency lol
LOL I thoughtwas the only one who still brings up the DED from Mafia, also feel bad we all lose plants
Love a dark and stormy and this video!
Thanks for this video. I feel so incompetent when I have a plant die on me. Having a time with Marantas.
I’m excited to find out if any of these plants come back, please keep us updated 😬
Wow I hear ya. Many of those also hit their demise in my home too. Oh well. Lol. 😞
I SO WISH you could ship to the US!! You have some of the most unique and beautiful scindapsus varieties. They are so hard to find around here!
Last plant i had to throw away was a little rose. My mom gave it to me and my cat loved it a little too much. After she kicked it out the shelf for the fifth time i had to repot it, little rosie hated repotting and died.
But my almost dead fittonia which just had three crispy leafes and some green vines is getting super well, new growth all over it ❤️
how do you make that drink though? My first husband told me years ago, if there is a bit of green, there's hope for life. Of course, doesn't always mean you WILL save them, or that you WANT to, but the possibility is there. I've brought many back from seemingly certain death by keeping that in mind. Thank you for showing us this video. It lets us see that even our fave plant experts aren't perfect and it's ok to make mistakes. I feel better now...or maybe it's all the wine... 😅
You are so funny!! Love your videos!! Cheers!! 🍻
Hello awesome Plant Guy!
Pepperomias. Pothos njoy. Croton. Succulents. Hoyas. I’ve tried reviving some but can’t stand looking at them in a sad state! Feels good to throw them away. I love this video!
That was by far the most heartbreaking plant video I have ever seen! Oh well, time to start over! 😂😁😀
omg thank you so much for this!! i recently killed one of my favorite plants because i went on vacation and i thought i was the only one
Pro tip - stop buying anymore plants, care for your current ones and stay on top of your pest management ESPECIALLY those with thrips.
This video is like therapy
Now that you're not spending as much time at home, you may want to think about using self watering pots for the ones that don't like to go dry.
Haven't seen a new upload... hope you are well
l love the video and I'm happy to know that I not the plant killer out there. Although it really hurts when I have paid a lot of money for it.
