I've found a truly superb introduction to Sailing, which frankly is better than RYA's, and it's a free Video on CZcams by Igor Stropnik a Croatian, and it's in English. search for his Channel on CZcams, click on his Videos List and watch How to Sail for beginners. Then To get a feel for it, Buy or Hire or do a Dinghy Sailing Course with a Dunghy with Two Sails. As a Youngster, for a few years I sailed a single Sail Dinghy my Father Built, and hadn't even heard of Telltales, let alone how to use them. All is clear in that Igor Stropnik Video. The old Laser is one Sail, and fun, but the Laser 2 is 2 Sail but a lot lighter than the Dinghy Igor Used and faster and more responsive. Lot to be said for one like Igor's for learning tbh. Could find something like it very cheap secondhand. A Dinghynimho is ideal for getting a feel for Water, tide, and air interaction and starting to get good instincts working for you when Afloat. asdvun learning how to use a Barometer Combined with That and even without Modern instruments you orboff to a flying start imho. Boats like these X boats, while nice are for me, have far too much emphasis on Racing, and not enough on Cruising, and unless having Buckets of Money to chuck at Racing, are financially not cost effective. For Liveaboard, a Cruising emphasis is far more important and is reflected in the relative depth of Keel and Do I want to be stuck with loads of places that are not accessible, because the Boat's Draft is the Wrong side of 6ft ? A pita in the Bahamas is just one area for example. Things like what Sail to have with in mast Furling become Crutical, fully battened with Cross cut Dacron means excessive batten pocket friction and wear and tear Shortening Sail Life. Or Get Tri Radial Dacron no Laminates, no Battens for almost eliminated friction and wear, and tear, and performance back very close to a fully battened Main. The Beauty with Dacron, is pretty much anyone in the World with a sewing machine, can repair a Sail. Tri Radial means up to 20 years Sail Life compared to about 3 years for Cross cut Dacron, due to fabric stretch and ruined Sail performance. Wort paying about double for Tri Radial Dacron ? Sleek - inside and out. Looking as if it were cutting though clear water - just sitting at the dock. The decks are clean and solid, yet dotted with stowage areas just where needed. A three stateroom interior with a large galley and literally a huge salon is an unexpected amount of space. Very nice boat. Thanks for the invitation X Yachts and thanks, Nick for the video tour.

Fantastic, comprehensive tour as always. I wasn't too enamored with the aft cabin/heads layout but I'm not a prospective buyer so it matters not. Overall a well-done boat with a price that's in range of achievable.

Great tour as usual, nice yacht, lacking a dungeon though.
Fabulous, I remember doing many Dartmouth Regattas in a 412. , with mixed results. But it's the taking part. My role, front of cockpit responsible for halyards, including spinnaker management. Not much fun on a death roll and the halyard gets jammed in the pully block at the mast head as you approach a racing bouy and have to give way!

It's no Gulf Craft Majesty 175,as for this boat sailing yachts aren't my thing really only for the simple thing, I don't know how to sail! But saying that I can appreciate a well put together yacht like this X43, it's a stunning looking boat and if I knew how to sail this would be on my list. I'm lucky enough to sail the slightly bigger version, most weekends. They are truly awesome boats, everything on them is just a little bit better and a bit more adjustable than you'd get on similar sailing boats of this class. Fast, solid and comfortable. There are one or two things to watch out for: The anchor roller/bow sprit is a bit short for the vertical bow line and its very easy to ding when you pull up a large anchor. Any new owner should invest in a fender before they are sorry they didn't. The ladder in the sail locker is a bit cumbersome when you are storing a code zero and a spinnaker. It would be good if the steps were foldable, offset or smaller. Also you constantly trip over the mainsheet traveller until you get used to the location, but that is more user error.

Thanks Nick, Nice Look See. Nice boat, but not for me, I'm still Smitten by that Bavaria C45 You did the walkaround a few years ago. Even after a highly critical and long Review of the Boat in use done by a German TV channel. Which did raise valid Concerns after Sailing it, about the same time you did your review. Credit to Bavaria, they have addressed those concerns, and looking at what the C45 now delivers to California, the C45 has become a Boat I can Live with, 3 years later. I still love your Off the Production Starting Blocks Walkaround though, as it provides great then and now comparisons for a boat that even then had the Right Bones so to speak. Surprisingly great access to the engine, I was expecting it to be buried. Lo and behold it is so central and with so many removable panels!
Sailing yacht design has not changed much over the last 5 or 6 decades. Just tiny details her and there. Talking about the insides .

I have been on holiday in a place in which signal was limited and I have really missed watching a yacht tour! I do really like this sailing yacht it looks extremely sleek from the outside and inside, well it would be great to cruise along the coast. Brilliant tour as always Nick thanks, and I can’t wait to catch up on all that I have missed
Looks very put together, although I was surprised to see a wet head in the owners cabin. For 500k I'd expect better accommodation.

By any chance Nick, did you do a report on the Rescue Boat 102 behind the X boat? Thats a serious piece of power boat. Old it might be but I'd say it could give a lot of modern boats in its wake. Fuel economy might be iffy though.

Very nice boat, kind of miss the years I had a (smaller) sailing boat. I always wondered; how does it work when you have a "wet toilet" which also serves as shower, with all that wood in the toilet room? How does the wood survive over time, being wet when you shower?

I think for me this would be the perfect sailing yacht. Perfect mix of performance and comfort. Just that main sheet arrangement says this is a performance yacht, along with the powerful lines and rig. But also very comfortable and thoughtful accommodation that will work for long passages. Lovely review Nick!

Not a problem at all.
Just tie the new line to the old one and pull.
If the old line snaps under deck then it'll be complicated.

All the wannabe sailors think a sailboat is a dream come true. Well, I sailed and lived on my boat for 12 years, 4 months, and 11 days, and I can tell you what boat life is *really* like. There are constant small problems like mold, endless maintenance, endless equipment failures, massive depreciation of your investment, running out of water, food, fuel, life support systems, etc, water leaks from above and below the water line, hurricanes, tornadoes, water spouts, microbursts, scorching heat, freezing cold, death defying dinghy rides in foul weather, running out of gas in your dinghy, running aground, smashing into docks, boats, etc, lines in your prop, shreded sails, broken halyards, chainplates, rigging, etc, dead batteries, lost anchors, lost dinghy, loss of the entire sailboat when the mooring fails, lost at sea when GPS fails, wishing you had learned primitive navigation skills, etc, etc....
And these are just the constant *small* problems. When you have survived these small problems multiple times you become a sailor. And then you will have the wisdom you were seeking. You will sell your boat at tremendous financial and emotional loss. And you will finally appreciate the importance of living conveniently in a comfortable home.
It sounds like you were REALLY bad at boating! 😄

A very modern design that doesn't look Ikea. I was wondering why and I think it may be the sound. It sounds solid, not the Light to Medium density fiberboard that Ikea is famous for. We spend so much time watching Nick's camera work that the sounds of the doors and the deck under him slip by into the unconscious mind but leave an impression. Do the Danes do Swedish modern better than the Swedes? (As a sidebar I've used Ikea for years and have had a few pieces for a decade or more - you do have to reinforce them though)

I'm always amused that X Yachts is Danish and Y Yachts is German. Is there any link between these companies? Or do Baltic sailors have the same worldview?
Why is there so much squeaking from the floors.. every step is a squeak. Sounds so poorly made. (even though X yachts is a reputable builder).
If there's one yacht builder that gives me an urge to get out on the water it's X-Yachts. So well built and probably the best all round sailing yachts out there, whatever the wind is doing. Really enjoyed the tour, if you get the chance ask X-Yachts if you can go out with them and enjoy their yachts under sail.
