    She's a beauty and is ageing gracefully. Love the interior and wood colour. I think the laws of physics don't apply to yachts as she looks 4x bigger on the inside than she looks from outside !!. Lovely tour Nick thank you.

    • @captainswoop8722
      @captainswoop8722 Před 2 lety

      Unlike power boats a sailing yacht doesn't have to sacrifice a large portion of the interior to the engine room.

  • @mytube001

    One of the most practically and sensibly laid out sailboats internally, that I've seen. No gimmicky stuff. Shared heads between cabins instead of wasting space with en suite for every cabin.
    For long-distance cruising, I would've converted the small aft cabin into a workshop space with tools, spare parts, bench with a vice and perhaps a sewing machine, and stuff like that. And the bunk-bed cabin on the port side would be converted to storage, perhaps with an extra fridge/freezer unit.

    • @ajkgordon
      @ajkgordon Před 2 lety

      That's an option on most Oysters this size. Some have a hybrid workshop and sea birth cabin.

    Twelve years ago, 2010 - there was the Haiti earthquake, the UK economy came out of another recession, Chile also had an earthquake, there was the eruption of Mt. Eyjafjallajokull that spewed ash everywhere, BP had a major oil spill (not that one, another one) and David Cameron became the UK prime minister. Yikes, those were the "good old days" (?). I do believe this World traveled boat has faired its journey through time in much better stead than most of us humans. I'm exhausted at the thought of it - Thanks for the tour, Nick.

    I was also going to say about the solar panels but on review Nick didn't say they were attached to the Oyster , just that they are a good idea. Nice sail boat and with the power winches and sails very easy for someone with a disability (like arthritis etc) to sail her . Thanks Nick.

    This is the reason for sailing around the world.
    I get to dream of the great adventure of distant shores, small palm islands, crossing the equator and sailing south.
    It remains a dream, but what a wonderful yacht.
    They have thought about the decor here, nothing is placed randomly.
    Great video Nick.

    Lovely.
    Oysters are another class above most yachts...a bit like Swan.
    Always beautiful understated classic looks and built to last. You wouldn't
    know this boat is 12 years old!
    Quality always shows.

    • @captainswoop8722
      @captainswoop8722 Před 2 lety

      They have gone a bit 'marina queen' with their boats since they were taken over and refinanced. They have sacrificed some of the sailing features to make cocktail parties easier (things like no traveller on the main and compromised cockpit for ease of access). Bu they have well thought out interiors and are top quality. Now that Discovery have gone to the wall along with Gunfleet they are the best blue water yachts you can buy.

    I really like that it has 4 cabins. Often, boats this size only have 3 cabins and 2 or 3 heads for some reason.
    But you're ALWAYS more comfortable having your own cabin, even if it's small.
    I always find that it's a shame having a 60 foot boat and not being able to invite 4 people to stay or travel with you.

      Pretty much! They are marinised VW 5-cylinder TDi large car or van engines. Many of the parts are widely available from main auto VW dealers. But some of the specific marine components can be more difficult to source further afield and rely on being couriered more often than the more common marine engines from the likes of Volvo or Yanmar.

    • @captainswoop8722
      @captainswoop8722 Před 2 lety

      It is a slightly unusual choice, Volvo is the more common option but they are good engines.

    Oh,good gosh.The 2 solar panels Are connected to the ship.They're mounted on the davits.They should produce enough power to charge a couple good sized batteries to run some lights at night.I really like the entire layout.It was very well done when designed and built,and the owners have taken great care of it.If I wanted to sail,this would be the 1 for me.

    Lovely. Last of the proper 'sailors' Oysters. Plenty of options for sleeping on the lee side although provision for lee cloths and boards and split mattresses on the double berths for lee cloths would make it a much better offshore boat. Plus I would go for a Solent Rig and either single line slab reefing or in boom.
    Their current range has sacrificed some of the 'proper' sailing features for an easier time when you have cocktail parties on deck unfortunately. Now that Discovery have gone bust Oyster are the best 'blue water' yachts though.
    I am still in two minds about the twin helms. I think If I was going to go proper 'blue water' with one the security of a single helm deeper in the cockpit would be more reassuring than being stuck up high when the wind starts to kick up a bit and the boat starts to ship some green..

  • @MrRnipperBrockleBroadcasting

    Well at least Nick knows the Aquaholic audience pays attention to every detail, but I think he might be after more sponsorship- clearly the glass repair glue hasn’t come through yet, We’re still waiting for Princess to provide that boat he deserves, and I don’t think we heard if Miele provided appliances for the “Super house” refit, so is he now aiming to be the new face of “ should have gone to a particular high street chain of opticians” who I notice have a couple of branches in Torquay and Paignton !🤠
