Thank you for doing all this hard work! I've ordered my high temp tape to replace the black stuff on my Phrozen Sonic Mini 8K and am hoping to get it dialed in even more using your advice in this video and the last!

I have the salmon effect on my profesional jewelry printers not as bad as this but i see them sometimes. I want to give this printer a go so it prints at 22um quality but i checked for resins that work on this printer that are castable for jewelry and they usually say xy 50 or 47 so my question to u sir is then what resins will print atleast to 30 um 25 slice. Or can i print with the purple jewelry resin made by phrozen rated at 50xy but higher resolution.Can u explain

Thank you for sharing your tests! Calibrating my SM8K was a breeze. No voxel lines even without AA. Such a nice upgrade from my Creality 2k printer. By the way, do you have a link for the head sculpt?

Wow, that's an incredible video! Thank you very much for giving us such methodical and precise testing of the printers, and comparisons at a good zoom level so we can see all the differences clearly. Wish Phrozen would amp up production so it's possible to get one in under 6 months haha
Could you, as a torture test, try printing a range of nuts and bolts, with gradually reducing thread sizes on the 8k? As they're somthing that would be very difficult for any printer to accomplish, and they're something that I'd like to use as practical objects for future projects, but my current 2k printer just can't handle :)

@@wangdennys McMaster Carr website has the models for nuts and bolts, it's easy to navigate. For smaller thread pitches you may need to scale down a bit :)
@@wangdennys Hi Denny, do you mind sharing more details about the process with tape replacement? Have you used 1mil (0.02mm) Kapton tape thickness or a different one? When you tape around the LCD do you overlap enough to cover the screen edges and leave clear space for the build plate or the build needs to land on some portion of Kapton tape? Lastly, do you use protective film for the screen?

That is the kapton tape i use.
I overlap the corner and screen edges.
Yep i just finish install the screen guard then seal the edges with kapton tape.

In back to back print comparisons with my Sonic 4k (not the mini, the expensive one with the big Z axis) and my Mini 8k the results are like night and day. The quality of the prints from the 8K after fine tuning are approaching that of an injection molded part. I work in 1/87 scale models mostly and the micro size details I have been able to reproduce have been jaw dropping. The crispness of the micro details like scale size bolt heads is unbelievable. My Sonic 4K is good, the 8K is approaching perfect.

At the end when your talking about the xp test in .02 and .01 mm. Are you talking about the layer height? I just got the mini8k and setting it up. I have it at .022mm.

How do you wash/clean your prints? They look so perfectly clean.
I manually dip the in tub of ipa. Lift and drip and repeat till they seems clean.
Then spray new ipa to rinse.

What slicing program do you use? I have the stock phrozen slicer and just went to the free version of lychee, but it seems lychees anti aliasing doesn't really work? Fairly new to printing sorry if I've misunderstood something

Tested on speed from 30 to 240 print just fine
But i suggest use 150 max to not put too much strees on the printer.
Is there anywhere you post your SM4K settings for use with their Aqua Grey 4k Resin? I'm having trouble getting consistent prints.
Great results with your printer! Eagerly awaiting my Feb batch printer to arrive. Would you suggest to get rid of the black tape right at the beginning or go through all the steps you made to fine tune the machine?
Dont remove it right away.
Not everyone will experience the same problem.
Only after you exhausted all other option and still have bad print lines, you may then replace it with kapton tape.

Hello Dennys, Can you make a video on upgrading the sm8k fep to nfep ? Which brand of nfep you are utilizing or prefer as well. I am waiting for my kapton tape to arrive and will change my fep to nfep at the same time.Thank you for your help.

Do you think its worth waiting for the elegoo dlp as it seem like the 720p dlp is not to far from the 8k details wise? Also I can't see any links to the figures you printed,where are the stl from? Found the figures.
from my experience with dlp.
720p will definitely loose if it compare to just 4k on printer with the same build size.
And i can see on some review for ultra dlp, the voxel is very thick and rough, almost like print result on halot one which is 2k.
But somehow they claim and the printer is also marketed has a better details compare to 4k.
So we shall see when i can get 1 of those dlp and do in-depth tests.
@@wangdennys I have a saturn at the moment so you think this would be the best upgrade for small figures and head of larger models? The build quality looks excellent and the new mars dlp seems to only have a single rail.
@@jamesbroderick2976 untill i can get my hand on ultra dlp or mars dlp and in-depth test them.
For now i would say this printer is the best in term of details even with the flaw like in part 1 video.
at 2:36 is that AA 2x in chitubox?
If you ever get your hands on the Anycubic DLP printer, I would love to see your print results with that as well.

Digital printing been around for a while, but i dont see painter becomes obsolete.
And sometime you need manual sculpting skill to repair or do final touch up on printed parts too.

Because all the printer that i review i will be using them on my print farm. And i really need working AA.

So far with mono x, mono 4k, the AA are not optimal.

Hi Dennys, i tried using normal exposure 2.8s and bottom exposure 28 s. the same setting work for my photon mono but apply same setting the print out fail and cant stick on the plate. Hope can get some advise from you. Thanks!
Relevel build plate with 3 papers.
And try this setting
Bottom layer 4
Transition 2
Bottom exposure 15s
Normal exposure 1.2s for 30um

Great video! You mentioned that the small letters were 0.1mm, I am assuming this is letter height? Also, that was for the 2nd smallest size, what is the size of the smallest letters on the top of that print?
Each size is from 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5

What slicer are you using for the 8k AA2, grey 0, blur 2. Better question, do you use chitubox? I have had nothing but disappointing results with AA in lychee

0.025 = 0.8-1s
0.05 = 1.4-1.8s

hey question for you. half my build plate is overexposed and the other half is fine. maybe not really over exposed but it looks like it but also seems like there are 2 or 3 of the same file printing right on top of each other. been through all the trouble shooting stuff. but i cant seem to get that half of the build volume to print right. any ideas?
Have you try reslice the file?

The 0.1mm mesh is really impressive, any idea if it's capable to make 0.1mm holes with roughly 1mm thickness? With what kind of orientation was this printed? I have a model I'd like to see tested with roughly 0.1mm (or 0.2mm) holes, and before buying this printer I'd like to know if it's capable of doing so
The orientation is like how i show in video.
Yes it can print 0.1mm hole with 1mm thick

IMO, 8K is better but the difference is not that much maybe it's better for tooth die or jewelry.

People use air purifier.
Elegoo has small purifier that you can place inside the printer.
