There is deep generational trauma that continues to be perpetrated to this very day, not just in my own family but in MANY brown families around me. I grew up with every form of child abuse around me that was enabled by a family that should’ve protected me. I was never afforded mental health care till I was able to get it for myself at 40. I have my amazing husband to thank for pushing me to be a better me through therapy. To show me that I do matter, and that enduring the pain and putting others through my misery wasn’t at all the correct choice. My white family showed me love, compassion, and kindness. This person’s guardian stayed until the money was gone, then they refused to continue because the person ran out of money. The state then reached out for family members to take over. They are also trying to collect back pay for their work.
The guardian is an attorney appointed by THE COURT. I know that because I am one myself. We are private attorneys who go thru a certification process relative to the particular populations we seek to represent (i.e. juveniles, incapacitated adults, the elderly, etc.). Then we request placement on the list in our respective jurisdictions, subject to the rules of the court.

I went to a PWI for the same reason. I was the white black girl who wasn’t black enough and I didn’t feel like I would fit in at an HBCU.
i literally understand the jerrod carmichael thing too. i was a theatre kid and had a vast majority white friends just so cuz they made me feel comfortable and didn’t bully me for being gay. i truly hated hated high school bcuz i was gay and now the blacks would treat me!!! i literally didn’t do gym til my senior year of high school and by then i had the option to do CO-ED weight lift class. we had to have 1 1/2 credits to graduate of gym and i took co ed for the full year of my senior year and took it over the summer my junior year which also was co-ed just so i didn’t have to be around nothing but NEGUS
