    It would be nice to get the drum to disk conversion using GM parts and have the parking brake shoe. On the 2005-2007 Silverado...

    A lot of people don’t realize that drum brakes are better in some ways. There is a lot more friction material than disc brakes. It tends to cost less to service drum brakes. They tend to last longer than disc brakes.
    The downsides are that drums don’t cool down as fast as disc brakes, leading to brake fade/failure in high performance applications. They are nowhere near as easy to service as disc brakes.
    A lot of people don’t believe me when I make these statements, but the easiest proof I can give you is to look at most semi trucks and trailers. Nearly all of them will have drum brakes on all axles, including the steering axle.

    Great content brother.....all your Tahiti videos inspired me to move ahead and buy my own 2004 Tahoe 4x4, although not a Z71 and can you believe mine doesn't have posi in the rear? Open 3.73s, lol.... now when doing that pinion bearing isn't it some kind of special process where there's a crush sleeve & it has to be put back together a special way with special tools? Looking forward to next video on it! Thanks!

      I thought all of these trucks had the g80, guess its just an option. Whoever optioned yours without the g80 didnt know what they were doing. However, you can easily add an aftermarket option. My 05 burb z71 4x4 has the g80, but i was unsure how much it worked due to it having 350k miles when i bought it. I found some mud and tried it out and it’s actually still working to my surprise. GM built these trucks very well before the bailout. After the bailout, not so much. Hence the AFM/DOD lawsuit, which baffles me that it doesn’t include the early years of AFM. Makes no sense to me. As an owner of an 07 Yukon 5.3 with 230k miles that has AFM, my butt cheeks are clinched from nervousness 😂

      @Wicked_RotF30 I wish it did have the locker in it.... they're easy to find locally and run pretty cheap. There's a guy selling one for 50 bucks right now near me. I might eventually pick one up and have a shop install it.

    Glad you are back on the Tahoe. Question for me is I don’t have any problems with noise in the back end, mine is noise from the front driver side , creeping sound from the front end.Did you ever encounter a creeping sound? Could it be shock,torsion bar or what. Only in slow speed and bouncing around over bumps and turning the wheels.same year as yours and 4x4

    • @lsXmatt
      @lsXmatt  Před 8 měsíci

      Usually ball joints will make a creaking noise if they’re really bad. Did you try shaking the front wheel to see if the suspension feels loose?

    Im currently at the end of 85 t/a resto do you have any info on computer removal the drivetrain is stock 305 carb and 700r4 tranny i had no use for the cat and the air pump so it was removed along with egr . and will this affect anything if done?

    • @lsXmatt
      @lsXmatt  Před 8 měsíci

      Not really if you’re trying to keep the factory stuff. If you’re doing an ls swap you can rip the old computer and harness for it out.

    Wheres the Old Tahoe matt? I know it’s there…..
    I have a hard time believing you went 100% stock on the current one literally makes 0 sense. Suspension I could maybe see but taillights and headlights and the front end?
    No way thats way too much work to go back to stock
    So either you sold the one we all know and love that you built and got this one hoping we wouldn’t notice or you got another one…
    Literally makes no sense otherwise.
