I would replaced the shell with a gm harden one and a transgo separator plate and the 1-2 Accumulator piston that is aluminum and not plastic,and install a .500 boost valve and you will need a special torx plus t-50 socket to get the bellhousing off.

The price is a steal, and I don’t want to pass up on the opportunity. But I don’t know too much about repairing transmissions.
When I was a kid, I had to do ALL my work in the parents gravel / dirt driveway. Pulled trans out on my chest and rolled it out. Also pulled and replaced rear pig on same car, my first one, 1968 Ford Galaxie 500.
Yes me and my buddy pulled the transfer case from his 03 explorer and we both pulled it the same way you did except were both crippled and so the cripples were benching the tcase almost dropped it on ourselves then got a much more capable friend to help put it in
I have that same Harbor Freight trans jack. I have used it many time but only once to take a trans out and put it back. It is great to use to hold up doors while changing hinges and so many other things. Keep up the good content.
I know the video is 3 years old but I’m new to the Chanel and starting the series from the beginning… anyways I may have done it in a sketchier way.. actually a very similar vehicle.. 2006 Yukon.. on 4 crappy axle stands as high as they would go. I didn’t take the extension thing apart. I took it off the trans the same way you did initially and just yanked and pried and twisted till it fell almost on my face 😊
I help take a transmission out of a van and by surprise the! The transmission sits in-between the two front seats we had to rebuild it. Not a bad job buddy and love the car👍

Did all thi and got it all back together and now have no speedometer and the shifting isn't quite right. Hooked up the blue driver and wasn't getting any obvious readings not sure what is going on but as far as I know the transmission was installed right and the torque converter is good on it.

Matt, that's not shady at all. A buddy and I in high school did a complete 4wd conversion on his 2wd Cherokee in the driveway. Go with what you got. Remember, it's only crazy if it doesn't work. 😁
It's odd that you complained about breaking the exhaust bolts, but you didn't use any penetrating fluid and you hit them with an impact wrench. No surprise they broke.

When I was in high school I had a '69 Z/28 that would eat throw out bearings. No money to take it to a shop so my moms driveway was it. And it was a hill! And the first time I changed it was winter in Connecticut! I probably changed at least 3 laying in that driveway - got it down to a science. No idea why it ate bearings. Seemed to be all stock.
My buddy and myself pulled his tremec transmission out of his newer GTO in between his driveway and the circle. What I mean is half the car was on the driveway and the other half was in the circle I used Jack stands to make that thing as high and flat as I could. Then I gave her a bunch of hard shakes and she was rock solid so we used the extra space from the curb drop off to give us a couple more inches of room to get that bad boy out. That is the most sketchy way I have pulled a big part off of a car.
While im thinking of it, i have a 2004 Chevy trailblazer with the 4L60E trans, i have an issue where if the trans and engine is cold the car shifts fine but whenever it gets hot( operating temp) it seems to slip out of gear, brought it to a auto body shop(not a transmission shop) and they say its the trans, but i cant help but not trust them, anyone know if it truly is the trans or if its just bad/old fluid

I've done it that way before. Saved a ton of cash by removing my trans myself then taking it to AAMCO for a rebuild.

While the transfer case is out, install a pump rub kit. Pretty easy and inexpensive to do to prevent removing it again.

About how long would you say this took? We have a 2006 Suburban 2wd. It lost all its drive gears except reverse. We don’t have power tools
