BOOM Ave. is a multi-effects bass pedal. Yeah, for BASS! All about that bass! We know sometimes you would feel ignored by the other band members. But hey, at Sonicake, we always believe that bassists are way more crucial than those egomaniac guitarists. True story!
BOOM Ave. gives you 4 essentials for bass playing: a BOOST/COMP, a FUZZ, a PREAMP, and an OCTAVE.
BOOST/COMP is as straightforward as it is. It comes with a volume boost and a compressor. FUZZ is pretty standard. Think about Russian Muff with some additional EQ twist. PREAMP is a classic. We try to pay our tribute to the legendary Ampeg style tone. OCTAVE is dual sub octave. But you can blend the ratio of the original dry signal and the octaves.
What's more?
It has an FX LOOP after preamp section. You can add whatever you wanna add in that loop.
It also has an XLR OUT for you to send the balanced signal to your sound card or PA mixer.
BOOM, all about that bass! No treble :)
I tested it and it sounds really nice. I was close to keeping it has an easy light rig solution for rehearsals and avoid carrying my big pedalboard, but didn't for 3 reasons : no tuner (when most competitors in that format have one), no chorus, and no cab sim. And that totally defeat the all-in-one purpose... 48 phantom power via DI would have been a bonus too
I am absolutely loving this pedal and its build quality, especially considering the price!! The Preamp section alone is worth the price.
I bought one shortly after it was released. I use it as a preamp and do not use an amphead. I go direct to the board. I love it. it has never failed me. The equalizer is very good. The Octave has virtually no latency. The distortion has wide range. Replaced my MXR bass d.i.+ which was good but lacked the features and range the Sonic has.
Phrynje, Thanks for sharing your experience:)
If your Rockstage and Black Hammer had an fx loop i would get them in an instant.
I would really want to know if this unit contains some type of speaker/cabinet sim when connected through DI output...?
Plugged directly to PA or a active full range speaker, will overdriven sounds sound digitally (buzzy/harsh/fizzy)..?
i'd like to know that too
This has a D.I. so it is designed to go direct to the board. The sounds you hear in the demo will be the same sounds the board gets. Its perfect for being the only thing you take to a gig. There is the matter of monitors or stage volume. Hopefully the gig provides that if this is the only thing you take it. Theres no digital speaker or cab simulator.
Sorry if this is a dull question. With the Di out, can I run that into a XLR input on my focusrite interface or should I run it through a DI box first? Any help much appreciated.
Hey I think that any bass pedal should include a built in chorus, and reverb. I would like to see a bass pedal with
Boost/Compressor>Reverb>Chorus>Preamp>Octaver. But as it has an effects loop its ok.
I found on mine that the octaver does a weird modulation effect (like this guy shows in his demo). When onlt Oct1 is selected it jumps between the lower octave to one octave higher and back. 5his is not what an octaver should do. Other than that this is a great pedal. I add a chorus and reverb in the effects loop.
Bass>Comp>Preamp>Chorus>Reverb>Amp/Pa.
What is the output voltage of this unit?
I would be running this directly to a QSC gx5, which requires a 1.2 volt rms input sensitivity voltage to operate at full power bandwidth.
Thanks!
Just ordered one, will do a review after it shows up
wow, waiting for your review! pls feel free to contact us if you have any mind:)
@@SONICAKE well I have to say for the price point I am immediately impressed. The Preamp section is lively and responsive, though could use a touch more gain. The Fuzz section is good but could be dialed back just a smidge but def covers most muff territory, the compressor is great and super easy to dial in, the octave is ok but I would have preferred an SWR style octave. And the size of the unit is tiny! Overall, I'm pleased to have a fly rig and an easy to use preamp for my home studio (dialing in a good bass tone on a line 6 hd500 is a nightmare). My hope now is that you build a guitar flyrig based on a fender supersonic with trem, reverb and boost with an XLR out. I'd have use for one of those for sure.
@@SONICAKE also, build quality is overall good, solid metal case, buttons stay where you want them. Would be nice if the adapter was a tighter fit, raises some concerns for installing on a pedalboard (a longer barrel would do the trick)
@@idol2984 Great to hear that! Thanks for your suggestion, I will tell our R&D team to see if we can do this:)
@@SONICAKE one big thing for guitar players is having a clean tube amp that takes pedals well. If you can design a DI with an IR that responds like a tube amp but is XLR out, you'd have a massive winner on your hands
This is about $70 shipped. Should I go with it or get a Caline CP-60 DI Box for $33 shipped and get another cheap pedal to go along with it? Im looking mainly to use for recording in fl studio
Shared.😉 Love the stuff you put out. Looking at the 5th Dimension to round out my Effects section.. Scored a Trio of the Loft pedals a FET being THEE 1 of the 3 😉🤘😎🤘
p.s. still waiting for that Mini MetalZone 'tribute' pedal😉😅
Thanks for your shareing:) So.. You mean you have ordered the "BOOM"?
@@SONICAKE I shared it with my Bass player. I'm Rythm Leads😉
@@jeromea1659 Cool! Hope he like it!
@@SONICAKE P.S
Loft series might be finished with.. But, you didn't make any of the Boss Black pedals: Metal Zone's 1&2&2w 😅, MetalCore ,,Power Stack.the F.TwinRev😉..etc. Just popped into my head. 🥺 And Yes, I've asked about the Zone already😅
Was this recorded with a mic'd cab or direct into the sound card ? Thx.
Hey man, it's recorded with sm57 and e906.
@@SONICAKE Great, thanks. Considering this for my own private lil' Xmas gift to myself :)
@@cybrunel1016 Wow, Glad to hear that, enjoy yourself, enjoy music with SONICAKE:)
Worst impression of Forget Me Nots bassline ever ... Get Ready Freddie Washington would be laughing
That poor fretboard... covered in DNA and gunk... 🤢
