I love how the explosion preset is literally just the femur breaker sound effect
Bahahahahahaha
4:15 Sounds like a bowling alley.
HELLO? SOMEBODY
*agonizing scream*
I whant a comp, a fuzz, chorus nothing elle what is my choices
Dude! This pedal replaced my whole pedalboard. I used compression, eq, and the occasional chorus. Now I use this unit to practice everyday. It baffles me how complete it is for 60 bucks (got it on sale). It has one of the best tuners I've tried and the amp modeling is amazing.
For the money it's great, I might snap one
Same for me, in the day i use it with batteries and phones, and in rig with usb. Also, nice desktop software
@@axelvalderramavalderrama5826 True! I am still using it daily. Plug in the bass, the headphones and you're golden. Only thing you need to get are some rechargeable batteries. Love this little thing!
Zoom seems to always have the biggest bang for the bux ! And also the easiest instructions ...
@@axelvalderramavalderrama5826 ?
Ok
One of the BEST reviews I've seen. The right amount of talk...the right amount of sound examples. Great job. Thank you.
True words
This kinda just proves that the quality of your effects is usually not nearly as important as your skill. That said this is also a great unit. It's crazy how far digital processing has come in the last 10 years.
I really feel like this B1 Four is something a beginner or even long time player could benefit from, you can learn a lot of effects with this unit and the different parameters you can change settings on effects too. I wish I had something that sounded THIS good when I started playing, especially for such a low price!
@@patrickhunter Me too dude my first multi was a Digitech BP 200. Moving on to standalone effects changed my world. If I got in to effects now I could see myself sticking with the Zoom and just picking up something else for Synth tones and for dirt.
Also it helps if your whole band mix is just a bass and drums 😂
As I was trying to ascertain via GearFacts, it has everything that Zoom previously made available on the 3030 - and more. It’s compacted but obviously intended for a wide range of musicians.
5mins in heard something that hit me in my sac. Lovely. I play for a house of worship. My Array is a big loud bass amp pushing 2×15's and mid/tweeter. I only use one multimeter for my beloved bass which is fully active with piezoelectric bridge. A big heavy chunky 6 string. Off brand but fairly well made with some augmentation.
I only use a few effects but they must be the absolute best. Pitch chord effects, delay including reverse.ring mod, chorus, phlanger, envelope follower, defretter and a few others. A lot for church music. I had thought MIDI it tracks well using the organ IC stuffed therein to 4 notes.
It is not cheap no. It shouldn't be. It's as much for my pleasure as the congregation and other musicians.
The most important part of the rig is me of course. Tasteful playing. Judicious use of the effects. A tone that's deep substantial with Crystal high-end to bring out the effects. I don't go through the system. That level of low-end the FOH can't handle.
A reputation for professional snobbishness I've cultivated for years. No one touches my sweet one. They may play the back up per permission.
I think my bass would sound great through one of those little red corvettes provided it came through by system. I may get on as a back up. It'll do quite well. as for the distortion. I say here and for all to hear distortion on a bass is the most profane sort of blasphemy.
.
I had a zoom processor in the 90's that had the "explosion" preset and I thought it was just hilarious. I am waiting for a fart preset that's just as useful.
I made my own fart samples that I could put on my looper ... hmmmm
Thanks for this video. You inspired me to buy the B1 four and I love it. It’s like 20 pedals for the price of one! 40 effects and amp emulators, 68 rhythm patterns, 30 second looper, tuner, I can plug my headphones directly, I can plug in my phone so I can watch bass lessons while I can hear myself play. This thing is awesome.
I got one of these bassed on your review. Definitely don't regret it.
The update patches bringing in additional effects and refining the sounds are great.
For the money it is incredible - especially great for a beginner like me who wants to check out a variety of sounds and effecrs without dropping larges amouts of cash for each pedal - it's a good way to create and test a shopping list.
They have come a long way with these. Good price for what you get. I’m sold. Thanks for the demonstration!
My two month search is over! I've found my first pedal to invest in :) thanks for making this video and thanks youtube algorithm for finally force feeding it to me!
I’ve got one ordered and will be here tomorrow. I can’t wait.
You nailed this review! I believe that showing off presets needs great groove and dynamics, unlike many other reviews. Got me to get the pedal myself.
This is what I want in a bass related demo! Great!!! I get to know the sounds, and Patrick demos with integrity.
dude i love these pedals reviews keep it up!!
Thanks for putting this review together. I just bought my first Fender Bass, but have been playing for years. I can’t wait to put some different sounds with my new instrument.
"Talk to me" turns any song into dubstep.
To me it has a cool cliff burton sound
Also is the tone of "Plug in Baby" by Muse lol
I bought the zoom 506 back in 1999 and loved it I just started playing again after 15yr of not playing and I can't wait till mine gets her..cool video
This price range is perfect because you always only end up using only like two or three sounds anyway.
facts lol
Or get frustrated deciding from so many choices which setting goes best with which song !
True to da bone. I concur
And the drum machine
i just bought this a week ago! cool that you review this!
This and the G1X for guitar have made practice and demo recording so much better. Surprisingly great sound for the price. The looper is intuitive and the basic beats great to practice to.
Very good review!! I just got one and I'm very happy with all you can do with it.
Just bought one for 70 bucks. Can't wait. More than enough for a beginner like me.
So I got it today, been using it for like 3 hours. For the price its fuckin amazing.
It got so much stuff, tuner, looper, backing drumtracks of SO many styles with adjustable volume and BPM.
So many cool effects.
This is worth every penny. SO awesome to practice on it.
Hey, do you need anything else to set it up to your bass or just the pedal it self? Sorry I’m new
@@adalmendez6442 pedal, two cables and an amp is what I use
@@FreeformRock thank you
Thank you so much for the comprehensive demo and review. I've been contemplating much more expensive multi-FX, but for my situation I honestly think this is all I really need right now.
I was just looking at getting this but with the expression pedal version! Perfect timing
Cool muti-pedal! Kind of wish I discovered this before I built my monstrosity! I revisited my digitech bp80 from 2006 recently, and found some really cool sounds inside. These pedals are seriously underrated for home players! They touch on everything you may need, plus tweak-ability! Thanks for what you do! Keep the videos coming !
Best review ever! Thanks for uour time and effort is playing all the effects. At that price, this is definitely worth the purchase, dor practice sessions.
Best bass Demos on your channel, thanx for that! 🤘
Ive had this for over a year now and I still use it on a daily basis. Its well worth the $90 price tag. Especially if you're on a budget
Has this for a few weeks, I think the most pleasant surprise for me is the octave, best tracking on one of these type of units, the drum loops are great too
gonna buy one of these next month (well, i'll probably stump up the extra for the model with the expression pedal) based on the strength of this review. it is *exactly* what i'm looking for
Awesome demo, Patrick. \m/ I have this multi-effects processor and it sounds pretty cool.
Thanks so much for posting this video, I’ve probably watched it 10 times by now lol. Just bought one today! 👍
I have the guitar version of this. Several useless sounds but others that are really good. Thanks for going through all the sounds. That helps a lot. I will probably get this thing.
Great video!
Giving you a thumbs up simply for running through the presets using similar lines for all of them. So much better to do that than the videos where they hit 4-5 presets that they like and when you check it out yourself, you find the reason was that all the others suck massively. So good job for that alone.
Overall Zoom makes pretty nice stuff. I'm sitting on a 503 and a 506. For a quick simple setup they work well. Nice sound range and good manipulation. I use them for Bass, Guitar, my son even uses them with his keyboards, for FX and sound enhancement. The noise reduction, compression, EQs options work out quite well. Bought them together used 20 years ago, totally worth the $15.
Great review Patrick. I own the B1X4 and love to practice with it.
EXCELLENT DEMO VIDEO!!
thank you!
Thanks to your review I ordered one.
Getting it today...thank you
I have the Zoom B3n, and I'm glad I bought it. A little tweaking and I found the sound I was after. Multi effects have improved these years. No regrets at all that I sold my pedalboard. Less weight to carry around 😅
Hi, is the B3n better than the B1 four IYO?
@@Bassaddicted4ever Def is. Pretty sure b3n has even more memory so you could add stuff from like g3n pedals.
It isn't that big of loss If you go with b1 four but b3n is def a good upgrade. Specially since it has metal casing
Man, I regret selling my b3n ;_;
@@boogie3718 Thank you, I appreciate the info!
Sir do you think having a cheap bass will sound great if you have this? I have a tagima PJ bass. Thanks for the information sir.
Great Review! I bought this one week ago, with the expression pedal and I couldn't find any good reviews like this one. I just learned a lot watching this video, thanks!!!
Hey curious how you're liking it after a month or so? Was just looking at the same one
@@darthcreepio it's really good, it has a nice loop, once you use it like this video it changes everything. At least for me that don't use too much effects.
It sounds really nice! I might get one of these.
I still love using this pedal when practicing at home. Thanks after years of use
I have the Zoom B1on, think this model use the same firmware and software. Man, the sound is fantastic, and has all kind of known effects, Amp simulators ( also classic Amps ), Cabinets, Looper and a drum machine that really sounds great with 64 different patterns. I also have the G1on for my guitars. They are amazing stuff for that price ! Thanks for your great videos !!!
I remember when the Zoom 505 came out for guitar. I was in my senior year of high school and although it had bugs to be worked out, it was a decent little multi effects unit. It had some nice pre sets but the distortion was horrendous. I used the 505 for all the effects and my Boss Turbo Distortion II for my distorted tone. This bass effects unit seems to have a bunch of great presets. I just recently started playing bass and have a Fender Tony Franklin fretless bass that I am running through a Fender Rumble LT25. While that combination sounds great, I’m seriously considering getting this for the looper and the drum patterns as well as just the patches themselves. Thank you for giving such a good demo of this unit
I unironically use a Zoom 506 for live shows. I use it as a tuner, gate and compressor. It gets the job done. The fuzz is also surprisingly good!
Thanks for the hard rock and punk tone demo sections, it was exactly what i was looking for
Getting one for my upcoming b-day! So exited! My first ‘real’ pedal! Oooh I’m gonna enjoy this one!
I'm surprised you didn't cover what I consider it's most useful feature: the pitch shifter. While the tone is hideous, the value of being able to practice in the key your singer needs along with the original in a different key can't be overstated. I'd buy it for that alone.
I have a decade old zoom G2 & it still works perfectly.
Great review. Informative and no waffle. Thanks man
The visuals on this video are great!
Your demo was so good I’m going to buy three of them. Ok I kid, but I’m gonna get one
It is a great tool and practice when I don't want to bother with my Spectracomp, Le Bass, and CAB M. Occasionally I will use it for it's effects in the chain.
great review! gonna have to cop one soon. thanks
Best optical presentation and a nice arrangement with cable and picks. Das Auge hört mit. :-)
Getting it for sure! I recently bought another amazing pedal from zoom for my synth setup! The multi stomp ms70, very versatile!
Thanks for the overview video! Would have loved to hear your experience with the drum loops though.
I've played guitar and bass since the '70s and am buying a bass this year. I need this pedal. Great review and honest.
Great review. nice playing, too. Thanks bro.
Nice vid, i own this pedal (B1XFour) and i love it, it has helped me a lot to find "my sound" totally recommended
The explosion preset is better to use with the "press mode" to give a explosive end to the songs and to mix with other fx to experiment.
I have one of these sitting on my computer speaker, haven't used it yet! Great vid as always!
Oh forgive me Pat, excellent demo as usual. I’ve really enjoyed your contributions here and check it out:
I always try to see if a certain piece of gear I’m interested in has been reviewed by you, and prior to purchasing.
Why? Beyond your solid bass playing skills, sunny disposition or superb recording method (plz run that down!)
It is the fact that I know I can hear whatever I’m looking at played convincingly with a pick. That’s huge bro and not common/downright overlooked. Well the value of this hasn’t escaped me.
I play with whatever technique delivers what the song begs so I really appreciate that cherry on top.
Keep up the great work and Be Safe, E
I've been considering getting this but there weren't any good reviews on it! Thank you!
Just bought the B1X can’t wait to try it
Awesome demo.
You forgot about the metronome! It really is a great pedal for the basic stuff which is why I purchased one and that little metronome/backing track feature is excellent for at-home practice sessions.
Hi - do you know if you can plug headphones in please? Thanks.
@@TheJazzyG21 I've sold the unit a few years ago... but if memory severs, no it didn't have a dedicated headphone jack. If you looking for that, there are many good options out there now~
Thanks.
Great Patrick, bought it after I saw your video.
Dude, such a great video. Thanks
Super video!!! Thanks! I'll buy one.
When I first started playing bass, like 10 years ago, I had a Digitech BP-whateverthehell and it was great to figure out what kind of effects I would even get a use out of, but it didn't sound great at all. It's good to know that digital amp/effect technology has advanced enough to where we can buy a decent multi effect pedal without spending $300-400 dollars, or even more. I'd love to see other pedals or effects you can get your hands on.
Thank you Patrick for doing justice to this multi-effects pedals. I own a Vox Stomplab 2b and I can tell you that the reason you might want to buy a single effect pedal is for more fine tunning options. Nothing else.
Hey👋 what do you think is better? The vox or this zoom?
If only all bass gear reviews were as good as this! Thanks👌
The Dark Crunch groove in the intro basically sold it for me. Looking to get a Squier CV 60’s jazz bass and this (primarily guitarist). Also really loved the Fat Tube groove!
That thing has some damn good sounds!
TYVM! Looks perfect to me, I'm just a beginner
Outstanding!!
Zoom's Tonelab actually works pretty well and their libraries are HUGE.
Wow, that Dark Crunch is awesome. I will look for this patch on my MS60B
I own one of these. Great for getting lots of different amp tones. Pretty easy to use, too. Great for practicing & rehearsals or small jams. Fits in the pocket of my gig bag. Built in tuner is a good feature. You can can run it into an amp or use headphones (1/4 inch jack).
Can have daisy chain several settings? For example a cab, noise gate, fuzz, and chorus?
Have you ever connected to a portable speaker with it?
@@darrielrivera-morales968 no because it's connected to a pedal board with a few other things. I also don't have a portable speaker lol
Darriel Rivera-Morales No, I haven’t tried that.

*_Zoom B1X Four + JBL PartyBox 100 = 🤘_*
Great demo ..amaxing
Nice review!
I’ve been well served by my B1Xfour (The same with a expression pedal) and really enjoy plugging it into my fretless bass ukulele.
Nice video. We could get a nice grasp of the pedal!
I bought the b1 four x with the pedal included. Totally awesome
I love this pedal, and bought it based on this video. One thing I noticed is that even though there is a single output, with my head phones, some effects are stereo, especially noticeable with ChoronaTri effect. Only one input, so in bypass mode, with mono pedals, still mono.
OK I'm gonna ask the family to get one for Father's day. Great review sold - I had an old zoom pedal in the 1990's never shoud have got rid of it. Used it on 2 records sound guys were always amazed with what I could do with it.
Outstanding, thank you so much
Getting one of these for xmas, can’t wait!
I thought this was going to be a review of some old zoom effect, cause it look's like it could be 20 years old. Damn, I was wrong..
I like it.
Thank you for this quality review. I don't know if it's been posted anywhere (or if I missed it in your review), but since it took me too many minutes to figure you, I'll share it here: I had to put my bass into passive mode for this to work.
Side note: I wasn't interested in any of the distortion effects, preferring a cleaner sound, but when I put on FAT TUBES and hit C on the A string, I giggled out loud. Music does weird things to us.
They are very smart in marketing. That is why they added the EXPLOSION patch. Seriously it was to make a buzz about it so they got more exposure
Thanks for this. Starting to solo more, and I need more sounds.
I have had the B1on version since December 2014, since that time I have given it regular use, and I have noticed that it works better than some "cheap" analog pedals. I think it will never come out of my gear, Although I plan to acquire another multi-effect, maybe a line 6 hx stomp. Greetings from Colombia
OK, it's in my Amazon shopping basket for October-just spent a load on a compressor and octave pedal so no more pocket money this month!
Great review, btw-new subscriber!
Not only this is a great review, you're a groovy player too! I had no idea this existed - considering the economy where I live and how I can't seem to keep my budget out of the red, this seems sweet!
I love my subtitles when you played the clean autowah.
"q q q uh yeah"!!!🤣
Hell, doesn't Victor Wooten use a Zoom pedal!?!?!?!
Hahahaha that subtitle!
And does he??
@@patrickhunter Victor uses a Zoom B3. He helped write the patches.
It works fine with two double AA Batteries or 9V AC outlet. The batter life is pretty good and using the battery option increases the portability of the unit. I bought this after my Digitech BP200 died on me. Dude is right about how most of the effects sound. I was surprised at how good the effects sound for the money. Even the ones he didn't like sound decent. The "talktome", Larry Jet, Funk Solo and of course the A-Wah are my favorites. It's great because you can use it in limited space and it will do in a pinch to gig with and it's travels really easy. Dude might work for the company but the review was pretty spot on. It's a great, relatively inexpensive intro to bass effects. Like he said it's great for practice and the price. The plastic casing feels sturdy to the touch but you may want to consider that if you want gig with it. it's perfect for the bedroom or basement bass player.
I am a new subscriber because of this pedal!! If you would have gotten the B2X with the expression pedal helps to smooth out some of the crazy sounding effects!! Also another AWESOME feature that the pedal has is hooking it up to 2 amps where you can have true stereo effects live!! My petal lasted for 4 years and sounded AWESOME the whole time!!! I had to pawn it last for the money and it was still playing fine!!
I was waiting for better players than me to figure this out as well. I have been using the predecessor B1on for home and band practice for quite some time and then got the new model just to see. The improvement is huge, especially in the distortions and the cab models! I used to like my real amp&cab sound (gk mb500 into 1x15) a lot better than my headphone practice sound, now I like the headphone sound better (with the BMAN Set patch). It is just the perfect headphone amp, with amp&cab models, tuner, metronome&rhythms, looper, aux in, and even every effect type you could wish for. My only wish would be a tempo tap function for the rhythms.
I have this pedal... really great (especially considering the price)!
Nice review
I just got one for £54 on ebay, can’t wait to try it and I already have the guitar version with the expression pedal(among another 6 or 7 multi effects pedals)
Thanks, very useful. Will buy :-)
