    Using this video tomorrow… I will wash it good with the Dawn/Super-clean mix and dry… I will go with chop top and heavy cut 50-50 for the top side toe rail with my DA and wool pad… then polish it up with a foam pad and Jescar… wipe everything down… I will do the interior with Jescar and find a drill detail brush to save time and energy with the seats… Thanks Drake…

    Very nice job.
    You can get to perfection without wetsanding. A dude up in Chelan WA is absolutely killing it with 3M Super Duty, 3M Heavy Cut, and 3M Perfect-It EX AC. Executives from 3M spent a whole day with him last week being shown how to use their own products more effectively. Lee has done 150 boats per year for the last 15 years.

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  Před 2 lety

      You may need to heavy cut several times to equate to wet sanding. I would say do whatever they told you, it is there product after all!

    • @terryhillyer529
      @terryhillyer529 Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Drake, thanks for the reply.
      This is the interesting part. 3M did not go to see Lee in Chelan to show him how to use the 3M products. 3M went to see Lee so that Lee could show 3M how to use Super Duty and Heavy Cut compounds differently. See the video from May 6 from “Local boydidgood”.

      @@tannerhendricks8132 Hello Tanner. Lee used to be with Deckhand Detail in Seattle, which is/was the second largest boat detailing company in the US. He is now with Chelan Shine. He is doing miracles with only compounding and no wetsanding. He has a 300 videos on his YT channel, but only 1400 subscribers.
      He has this crazy nasty red Bayliner that they use for a before/after demonstration and also for training. The boat sat in the desert for 20 years and is trashed and gross.
      I have a lot of respect for what Drake has done with his business and YT channel. My sincerest hope would be to see Drake get some free lessons on compounding from Lee in exchange with helping Lee gain more CZcams traction. Win-Win for everybody. Redding CA isn’t that far from Chelan WA.

      Here’s a link to the products I love ! if it has heavy oxidation and scratches, he will need more than two steps. Heavy, cut compound, medium, cut compound, then polish, then seal. I’d recommend shine supply heavy, cut on a white wall pad with a rotary, then shine supply chop top on a yellow wool pad on a rotary. A polish shine supply wake up, then seal it up with Jescar power lock. All of the products can be found in my link above. At checkout, feel free to use my discount code: DRAKE15

    What speed did you have the wool pad at ?

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  Před 4 měsíci

      We typically run wool pads at lower speeds to allow a better and deeper cut. Anywhere from 600-1800rpm. 600 being on the heavier cut side, 1000-1800 being closer to the medium cut compound side of things.

    24ft cabin cruiser planning on doing wet sand process 4 step. Wet sand, heavy cut, med cut, polish…do you recommend 32oz for the compounds or should I grab the gallons…also aside from the wet sanding should I be buffing and polishing my boat every year or should a maintenance polish keep me where I need to be. I live in NY where we only have about 5 months of boating season

    • @allaboutdetails3356
      @allaboutdetails3356 Před 2 lety +2

      No You won’t need to wet sand and buff it out again for awahile. Remember there’s only so much gelcoat layer on there to begin With . Then you hit the primer underneath… so no won’t need to go in heavy unless you leave it in direct sun and don’t wax then oxidation will be back in 5 years or less . just keep adding wax and touching up the areas as needed.

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey bro! Try out some light compounds or a polish from shine supply! There’s a few to choose from in that category!shinesupply.com/

    Do you wax under the boat? Every section? Thanks

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  Před 2 lety

      I usually wax all gelcoat from the bottom line and up. Wax on the bottom is an option, but it’s extra and not too many people do it.

    Why does everyone fast forward and blank out the audio when using the polisher??? This is the most important part of HOW to do this! How much compound do you put on? How fast do you run the polisher? What does it sound like, RPM? You waste so much time talking about nothing, and then the most important parts are fast forwarded and basically skipped. Crazy
