- Only 100 very wealthy people will ever have the chance to spec a brand-new Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 V12 hypercar. Each and every chassis is now sold. But today, Gordon’s invited Top Gear to be the 101st to enjoy the T50 speccing treatment, with a guiding hand from the company founder and car designer himself. Plus, stay tuned for guest appearances from GMA development driver and IndyCar legend Dario Franchitti, and shrieking T50 prototype XP5 itself…

Our T.50 makes everyone jump! 😂
Is there somewhere a photo of the dashboard where you could see all the screens and the central rev counter as if you were sitting in the driver's seat?
@@tamasszabo8824 yea there is one in the press kit on their website
Casually... u need to see 12k revs..
It's the bespoke where the challenge (and the money) is. Get that lightweight gemstone embedded analog watch ready to accompany the car in the same color.
You guys really should have Tiff do another review just as he did with the F1. Same locations, everything.
I love the way the "configurator" isn't actually a configurator, it's a guy swapping materials around in a 3d modelling package.
I've noticed it's done by a lot of car companies now, I think it's used for the Valkyrie configurator as well.
Unreal engine is really the perfect tool to allow real time, photorealistic configuration of an animated object. Particularly since unreal have created an open to use car configuration template, so it's far easier to create your own from that, than to hire a Dev to build a tool for only 100 end users.
@@supersnail5000 I'm assuming it's a temporary "ghetto" solution. Companies usually package it into a build application with a user interface to allow customers to swap colors themselves.
Good ol George
it looks like a clean average classroom lol
"I want it matt painted and flat shaded using the default textures from SketchUp, thanks"
I like the fact there's not really an options list and that everything is included in the price. Nice touch that.
Well for GBP2.5mil, I’d expect the clothes off of Gordon’s back too
@@neilk22 and not one of the hundred customers would take up that offer because only murray and that guy from Cosworth can wear a floral shirt and pull it off.
We are talking about 3.6 million. More than bugattis and it is half of the weight 😂 which I know is a good thing, but the amount of car, materials, development and craftsmanship is not THAT much. It SHOULDN'T have mark ups for yellow calipers
@@comeberza to be completely fair, asking for a special paint or having the roof line trimmed in leather means that the car needs to be taken out of the production line, which requires dedicated people to do the job and more time consuming labor. That's one of the downside of a production line - you're limited by what can be done quickly.
It's not a problem you'd have if you're building 100 cars individually by hand, so long as you have the material required.
With that being said, charging to paint brake calipers to a different color that 1000 other customers will probably also want is a bit ridiculous, that's something that could've been integrated to the process. It's a different story if the color is bright pink with purple dots in 24 specific spots.
@@damncritics What about James May?
If I had millions and could only buy one supercar/hypercar, this one would be it. It doesnt matter that it's not the fastest by any benchmark. How many times in life could you get in a central driving position with a manual gearbox?
I agree completely. Remember though this car will have no problem getting out of it's own way. The power to weight ratio is unbelievable and the sound at 12k rpms will be EPIC
@@CanIbeFrank For sure! It's by no means going to be a slow car and only going to be dwarfed by the most extreme cars around like the Valkyrie for aerodynamics, the Bugattis in straight line speed, or the Koenigseggs with their insane horsepower. But this car is likely to be more fun than any of them because it's meant for that and not about setting records.
Buy a gearbox kart, at around 4000 to 10000 UKP, then it's possible to get in a central driving position with a manual gearbox every day. Go 250cc superkart and it's probably faster, rawer, more grip too. Just saying.
@@131Beda I’d be scared to death driving 200mph in a freaking cart haha
@@AmperahGaming In all fairness, it wouldn't do 200, I meant faster in acceleration to around 120-130 mark, gearing depending that is, and faster in laptimes in circuit driving.
I love the fact that you buy the car of your dreams at one price and not charged a fortune over the base price to get exactly what you won’t.
*want
Well, consider that the car is already marked up so much.
We are talking about 3.6 million. More than bugattis and it is half of the weight 😂 which I know is a good thing, but the amount of car, materials, development and craftsmanship is not THAT much. It SHOULDN'T have mark ups for yellow calipers
comeberza Yup, the original F1 would’ve cost $1.6m today. But this is a car for oil rich dictators and investors, they’d be willing to pay much more, since it has GM’s name attached to it.
Your already paying a fortune up front for the car !
The sound of the car at the very end.
Amazing, Gordon Murray deserves a Nobel prize for this car👌 lol
That’s a bit far. Don’t think designing a car is ever worthy of a Nobel price prize.
@@Emira_75 that is why I added the “lol”
Still great achievement. A truely remarkable design.
Sounds like a dog 🐶🐕 barking.
Too far. This is kit car. Get great eng, designer, motor. Wala. You done it.
If you want it more grunt, just take Lexus LFA. F1 sound
There's something amusing about the experience centre being just a bare warehouse office yet still probably a more special experience than being at a Ferrari one.
It’s a shame that they don’t have a configurator online so us mere mortals could dream....
It’s probably an exclusivity thing, I can see why they don’t want to make the configuration public
@@salvi1398 It was a joke
Someone should make one
just learn Unreal Engine, redo the model, and set up the materials, that's basically what they've done :)
Poor Zach, under close supervision of the boss.
In all seriousness, even though I'm not in the market for such a car, I do really appreciate the ethos of the experience that Gordon and his team have created.
Imagine getting to sit beside Gordon Murray and specing a T-50 - wow off the charts!!
I've been waiting for this episode. That start up at the end is savage
Ok
the sound of this car on the move is just phenomenal, never heard anything like it on a "street worthy car"

@@Neale78 because the F1 and the likes are more on the road car side yeah? Road legal it had to adhere to road regulations. It doesn’t sound the same as the race car.
@@Gaudine Even so, it was designed primarily as a race car and doesn't sound like the T50, which is a road car, just like the F1.
I agree, but the Lexus LFA has a special place in my heart. Not to speak about the sound it makes
Drinking coffee ☕ watching 👀 this and owning a accord and s10..a guy can dream
So much beautiful and finest things about T50 I do fall in love with, but the most beautiful thing of T50 is undeniable the professor Murray ‘s vision.
Absolutely mind blowing design and craftmanship.
Gordon your design is timeless, your passion is on display on every angle of the T50.
Bravo....bravo!!
Don't come to this channel often enough. Moved away from Top Gear like so many others, but this is brilliant, proper car nut stuff.
That car sounds amazing!!!!! I wish I could afford one because I got a feeling they are going to be worth a lot more than 3 million dollars in the future.
Agreed, it is not 3 million dollars, its 3 million pounds sterling, 5.17 million US dollars and i would not be surprised if they doubled that after 5 years 👍
It's cool to see the concept of a racecar being a racers 'suit of armour' taken to the street. Straight oldschool Brabham and Murray.
I have to say the Mr Murray is a genius that we should behold in the Arena of pure Car design without compromise.
As for the " everything is included " statement , I bet Bugatti are cringing into there breakfast pain au chocolate, given the utterly ridiculous prices for options on Chiron derivatives. This car must be on target to obliterate any Nurburgring lap times set to date for a road legal car.
Gordon Murray, I salute you Sir.
It’s not lol
Dude, this thing is 3 million and has barely any customizations options. Bugatti, MSO, or even Porsche lets you change and chose every detail. What are they going to do, charge you 1000 for a different color over the already impressive price, like bmw does for a 70 thousand pound car? They don't charge because they dont really offer anything 😂
@@comeberza look at the cost of different coloured wheels on a Chiron. Really my friend, you need to get with the programme , €57,500 for Black or coloured wheel finish, €60,000 for diamond cut on a Chiron.
Zero on the T50

Getting to configure a car this magnificent ought to be on my bucket list
I’m truly jealous of anyone who gets to have one of these. This is what perfection looks like
you are one of the luckiest top gear staff, to sit and be 101st owner to spec a car of dreams , to have this surreal experience, albeit only a fabrication, it is still the absolute what any real owner will experience in the feature when their time comes, and Dario Franchitti is an absolute pleasure to listen to explain in detail what takes place with GMA T50 testing and a job that few have the calibre to perform as he does, the blend , the balance, the comprehension to communicate with the engineering team, this is all just a pleasure to see people that are passionate about what they do, very gratifying , well done Top Gear staff ❤
Best sound ever in a road car!! Wow! Gordon, you've done it again, sir. Bravo!
The members meeting was so good. That NA engine is pure perfection.
HOLY SHIT that thing sounds even more incredible than I imagined! Cannot wait for the first drive videos!
For years i struggled to answer the question ''money no object what car would you buy'' i no longer struggle.
amazing car, even more amazing than how the presenter rudely cuts in while people are explaining things
When he said the line reminds him of Bugatti I cringed.
If I had the money I would buy this car and a Pagani, the passion the designers put into the cars is amazing.
Wow….I used to work with Gordon Murray and amazing to see his achievements.
My IQ went up a few points watching this and listening to Gordon.
Thank you.
Assembled a great team to build the car and help customers
Dario Franchitti was a real joy to listen to
I expected an Italian acsent
Imagine the thrill of getting to configure one of these to YOUR spec. Bugger everyone else, this is your baby.
It would be like every birthday and Xmas rolled into one, 10-fold.
It's the touches they add to the whole bespoke car-making process - it's YOUR design, and I'd not only be excited to get something like this, but so chuffed to have millions to throw around in the first place.
Dark Metallic Purple with Orange Interior and Calipers and all of the exposed gloss Carbon. Black Wheels, Glass Roof.
My neighbour works there on the front suspension 😁 he's a good guy .
I like how they want the customers to really take their time in choosing their preferences. They realized that despite the fact that the customer could afford the car, it is still a lot of money and it should worth the price at the end.
Edit: those engines, my word. That's what paradise sounds like.
So refreshing that GMA is not going to nickel and dime their customers on options. Looking at you Porsche!
Yes, I get you, but Porsche doesn't charge $5 million for a car.
@@davidhunternyc1 True
I love how the British politely ball
The Blue final configurator version (which works) looks a lot like McLaren F1 #069 in its current Ferrari inspired colourway!
What a sound at the end!
I get goosebumps every time I hear that engine rev 👍😀
There's something incredibly cruel about being allowed to configure a T.50 along with Gordon, knowing you'll never ever own one.
ooof
Great video. Everything about this makes me happy that this car will exist, even though it's extremely unlikely i will ever have one, or drive one, or maybe even see one.
I swear my eyes welled up when the test car started revving. I want one so badly.
It's a nice gesture to show everyone this incredible process when they were already ALL spoken for. 😂
Brilliant. That ending was SUPERB!
For all of you mates with headphones, DO MIND the start up at 30:09. It's an immense SHOUT.
Steering wheel would of looked good with an orange 12 o'clock marker to tie into the orange stripe..
this car needs to be in gran turismo 7
Or in Forza Motorsport
Gordon nearly died when he related the car to a Bugatti
Why? The Chiron is one absolute masterpiece, just like the T50.
@@utuberme1 While the Chiron is an impressive piece of engineering, the goals of the Chiron are a night and day difference with the T.50, and represent everything that's wrong according to Gordon. The Chiron chases numbers (such as horsepower and top speed) rather than a driver-centric experience. It's also an immensely heavy car, weighting easily 2x as much as the T.50. This negatively affects the car's potential in acceleration, braking and especially cornering (which is reflected in Bugatti's poor lap times despite the big numbers and price). it's also hugely impractical as a road car, and has tons of features that are fun and/or bling but don't add anything to the pure driving experience. All of this amounts to not being what a road car should be if you ask Gordon, and I fully agree.
@@h4x0y well said
@@utuberme1 If you understood at all what Gordon is all about, you wouldn't even have to ask.
@@utuberme1 The Chiron weighs as much as a herd of elephants and looks like an upside down bathtub bedazzled with rhinestones. The T.50 is a masterpiece. I know, because I saw God driving one.
11:55 "If some people wants family crests" so what he is saying is, Prince Jefri has ordered one then. 😂
What makes you say that?
Purchasing this utterly brilliant car and configuring it precisely to my specification would be an absolutely incredible, once in a lifetime experience.
I love how understated all of this is, it's very British. No pomp, just good taste.
Sounds amazing and looks phenomenal can't wait to see it shredding tracks and canyons.
Oh my goodness, this is something else. This is very special indeed.

I wonder what Gordon thinks about JayEmm's fabulous interview with Steve Nichols ?? 😁😁
That T50 sound tho - pure magic 👍👍👍
Yea i need that issue to be sorted but nonetheless this car is something else
Bespoking this car with the insane options like a Speedtail, a Pagani Or a Koenigsegg Or a Bugatti, each car's crazy story needs to be told. The craziest part of GMA's story is just beginning. Nothing is as mind blowing as some of the bespoke things the customers will want.
... but some bespoke cars are hideous. Remember the Porcelain Bugatti with the dancing circus elephant?
Seating config and steering wheel position and pedals are epics part of this video!
@ 25:45 is that Ollie casually leaning on a £4 million GMA T.50 Nicki Lauda😎
Astonishing attention to detail. What a car!
Great videos, experience of a lifetime to spec and follow the car being developed and built, if could afford one would be handing down to future generations of the family
“You get every spec option for one price.”
You hear that over there in Italy?
Given the jump at startup, maybe spec a brown seat option? 😁😎
Jaw-dropping process. I'm still coming to terms with the rear-on view, but everything about this car is revolutionary!! Where do I sign?
Really looks like an enjoyable experience and the car looks brilliant, I’d have one if I could. Not sure how this customer experience relates to other 2.5mil hypercars with the exception of the AMG one since there’s videos from Rosberg for that available and seems on a par, got to be for the price though right! And I hope Gordon is there for every one of the customers..!
Yes he is
When Gordon says oh, that's a no cost option, I can't help but chuckle;-)
It would be simply amazing to spec your own one of these.
I really like this style of video production the somewhat new Top Gear does, it fits well and it helps differentiate itself from the old TG in a lot of ways (not saying old TG was bad, because old TG was legit one of the best shows on television in the world, but I think sometimes the new-ish TG tries/tried to be a bit too much like the old version). Also that engine sound is astonishing. I can already imagine that being put into a car in a game like Forza Horizon or GTA and it just giving me a pump of adrenaline from listening to it.
Yeah old top gear or even TGT had a lot less online content it feels like - but with the new presenters and new TG, it feels a lot more ‘modern’ or it’s embraced the online content. Chris does a lot of his own stuff, there’s a lot of good other reviews or content on this channel, which was never really there with old Top Gear (although granted the Internet was fairly different even just 5/6 years ago)
Will be a superb car, but with only 100 examples, prices will soon appreciate quickly - cars will be too valuable to drive on the road (far greater than the purchase price), and stored away in collections like the F1.
Sadly true
Yea maybe but gordon said in the start that he met every customer and made sure he/she drives it ,now fingers crossed it actually turns out that way
@@prathameshpawaskar4136 maybe in the beginning but when the price of maintenance starts to increase as the car gets older then its just gonna become another McLaren F1. It might be worse because they don't have the money that McLaren has and to make it up they'll just overcharge the customers
@@olgaflores522 they actually have claimed that the first service is less than a m series bmw
Tell that to Leno or the many other owners of F1's out there that actually exercise them on a regular basis.
thankfully theres no Paddy in most of the youtube Topgear videos.
its good to see that when you are spending your 3mill that you dont need to spend even more for options, when your spending that obscene amount of money on a motor EVERYTHING should be included.
