      Yes I've been experiencing anxiety and panic attacks for 15 yes now. It's very uncomfortable but I always knew I'm not gonna die. That's how my symptoms dissipate.

      @@nolicerrillo5494 Theoretically yes, but these doctors never really explain anything in detail, they just say well its not harmful, try telling that to a medical doctor in a hospital. If someone is suffering with panic disorder for years, you'll never cure it by giving some simple answer, never showing any studies to back it up, you'll never convince them, because everything else in health even what we eat, is all backed up by evidence and studies, and phycologist that treat panic never cite anything, its quite frankly astonishing, and very disappointing. I have probably done more research than these actual psychiatrists, if you can believe that, and I've seen mixed studies, they don't all come back as harmless. Unless they have access to something we don't, well then please show it, I mean people are suffering, and you could cure them if you would just show the evidence, were all waiting, please show the studies show the evidence. Please don't say well its like exercise so exercise isn't harmful, not that's wrong, intense exercise is actually harmful, and we have evidence showing that, so now we have to show if there's a difference between panic attacks and intense exercise, and again, the psychiatrists will never tell you, because quite frankly they don't care, they're just making money of their book, if they had panic disorder believe me, they'd care, and they'd actually do the research. So now I have to do it myself, apparently there's some strain with the cardiovascular system with marathon running over a prolonged period of time, this may be the stress on the system, which then stresses the heart. Where as with panic, the body is not strained the same, the heart is just pumping, a marathon runner pushed to the limit can collapse at the end of a run, taking the body to the absolute limits of what it can physically do, which is beyond a strain on the system, and yes could at some point scar the heart, and then thicken it, causing it to beat so slowly it no longer beats correctly, its called athletes heart. So lets hope the psychiatrists can tell us the difference between athletes heart, and a life time of panic disorder, I doubt they will. And because of this, they can never cure panic disorder until they do actual research.

    The way you have explained this has really struck a cord with me, im so happy to have found your videos ive tried all sorts of things over the years, read all kinds of books, but using your "glue to the spot " idea WORKED like you said short term discomfort for long term gain, i dont have to worry anymore , please Keep doing your work, its made a big, positive difference in my life.       Appreciate Video! Forgive me for butting in, I would love your thoughts. Have you ever tried - Patlarny Priceless minutes Principle (do a search on google)? It is a smashing one off guide for curing panic attacks minus the headache. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my work buddy after a lifetime of fighting got amazing results with it.

      I'm trying this for the first time tomorrow at work I've always gone for walks or "ran away" from the problem. I'm never able to sit still because I'm so terrified but I'm going to force myself next time it happens to me wish me luck. Hope you're feeling better

      @StretchMarkstheSpot I'm actually amazing now, I'm a fitness nut and health addict it's crazy how drastic of a change you feel mentally and physically when you take care of yourself. Holding down a full time job and making my rent no problem, have a girlfriend now and we just got a pitbull puppy! Hes.. been a handful lmao. I still live with anxiety but it no longer controls my life but it's still very much a part of it and always will be. Patience and hard work is what I recommend to anyone, it worked for me and I was at rock bottom, thanks for asking.

      @@froggythekid7715 I'm glad to read that man, in my case I'm starting to deal with this damm panic attacks and It's no easy to stay there standing in front of the panic when it starts. So I have had a long way of desensitization until I could restart my life and come back to my job, but now my life is so stresfull again and I'm absolutely terrified by the idea of having a new panic attack while working and run the hell out to my home so all this nightmare would begun again...

    I have never heard such a beautiful, gentle voice - apparently my mind was so interested in listening to 'the voice' that during an acute anxiety episode ( I have GAD and PTS) that it 'forgot to go into full anxiety mode' 😂 That says a lot doesn't it! What Dr Barry explained has been so helpful as I (like thousands of other folk) work my through a massive trauma episode and complicated grief. I am now learning how to deal with the aftershocks of a 'mental tsunami' and try to "re-train" my mind NOT to try and convince me that I am going to die any second as wave after wave of panic disrupts my days and nights. Obnoxious disorder! Thank You, Dr Barry.

      @@Alchemist523 Because he doesn't give enough information and proof, you'll start thinking panic is harmful at night, because rest is important for heart health, and what happens if you don't get that rest, will panic then still be harmless, again we have no answer, I honestly can't believe there is such limited info after all these years.

    Dr. Barry I've had anxiety for 6 yrs chronic to the point its hard for me to walk to the stop sign a few houses down, can't drive, go into wal Marts or grocery stores...whats your advice on chronic warriors?? It has swallowed 6 yrs of my life. Im 28 now. Was 22 when anxiety hit me like a brick

      @@solideroftheapocalypse4955 You have to do your own research, panic people will never get it till they see concrete proof, like from actual medical doctors, and Dr. Harry Barry will never show you that proof, he has none, its so sad, unless I'm mistaken and its in his book, but I doubt it. You can't cure anyone like that, just rehashing what Claire Weekes said a gazillion years ago, or what Dr. Barlow said, doesn't work, this is 2020.

    I would like to use this technique. My panic attacks come when I'm driving on the freeways / highway at speeds and when I don't have a immediate "safe" lane to get into. How can I practice?

      Survival first priority
      Way back threats were mostly physical.
      We developed lightning fast reflexes to detect and deal with dangers in the environment.
      The whole body had to in an instant gear up to face such threats.
      Evolution evolved our stress system to organise such response.
      Some threats would last for a longer time
      So our system had to be on high alert during such episodes.
      Also we had to have periods where we could switch it off so that we could eat and relax.
      Our ancestors probably dealt with these responses better.
      Enemy appears and threathens them or their
      Family then they stand and fight.
      They might find themselves fearful in an encounter so they flee.
      They might be wounden or have a hard time finding food so their stress respond had to be on for a longer period of time.
      In any case the brain had to give an appropriate respond for him/hers or his/hers families safety and survival.
      Even tough we don't live in such dangerous situations our stress response is still a vital part of our day to day survival and even tough our ancestors dangers where more obvious and visceral, this is no longer the case in the twenty first century.

      (LPC) Left: This is the part of the logical brain which creates all the worrying possibilities of what might happen in the future.       (RPC) Right: This is the part of the logical brain that creates the catastrophic visualizations so common in anxiety. A good example is when people with airplane phobias visualise what will happen when the plane doors close.

      These hormones are realese into the bloodstream and travel around the body to activate all the various organs - the heart, lungs, gut and so on - involved in the stress respond.
      It is the main cause of the chronic but equally distressing symptoms so prevalent in anxiety.

      Prolongs attack as long as you continue provoking it.

      No, absolutely not. Anxiety is your subconscious mind mistaking a calm situation for a dangerous situation. The fear of the bodily sensations that happen during the anxiety attack is what causes them to get worse. This is why he says not to fear them, but to ride the wave and understand that your body is safe and can manage the situation..
