  • Fairfax was a cinderella team who met up with the Giant Killer WestPo Wolverines a year ago in week 7. They made the playoffs for the first time in a decade and then lost game one. This year, they faced three of the top teams in the Region in their final three games. They won all three decisively and became elite, finishing 10 and 0 in the regular season. They have no weak spots. This is a complete team with athletes at all positions. If there is one thing to take note of, almost all of their starters are going both ways. Tonight they faced a team with immense history that has in recent years been washed away by activists who are bent on removing all mentions of anything relating to the civil war period in the U.S. from public sphere. A full size "Remember the Titans" movie billboard hangs in the trophy case at Alexandria City high school. The team's nickname remains the Titans, but T.C. Williams high school is no more. The football team has struggled to find an identify in the last decade as well. Legendary head football coach of their 1971 state championship team passed away almost three years ago and the Titans tho one of the winningest teams in Virginia history has not been beyond the early stages of playoffs in over a decade. Tonight, the Alexandria City Titans faced off with the Perfect 10-0 Fairfax Lions in this first week of the Virginia football playoffs. Don't miss it. Future Penn State star Tony Rojas, led his team against the mighty Titans.
