House of the Dragon - Episode 6 PREVIEW TRAILER | Game of Thrones Prequel (HBO)

- House of the Dragon” takes place almost 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones.” The series follows the Targaryen family - that would be the silver-haired, dragon-flying crew, the one that Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) made famous in the original series - just as it is about to rupture, with dire consequences for the realm.
Three years after the most popular show in HBO’s history bowed out, the hunt for a successor is finally over. It took a lot of effort to get here. Numerous “Thrones” prequels were put into development, and a pilot episode for another spinoff was filmed before it was canceled. Tens of millions of dollars have been poured into the winner of the bake-off, “House of the Dragon.”
The House of the Dragon Episode 5 teaser opens with ships sailing and Viserys (Paddy Considine) arriving somewhere that is most certainly not Kings Landing. In voice over, Viserys says, “I wish to propose a marriage…to my daughter and heir.” After a title card that says, “On the Next House of the Dragon,” we see a dwarf very spiritedly banging on a drum. Someone says, “A royal wedding,” as even more ships with the House Velaryon Seahorse take to the sea.
Then we’re back in Kings Landing. Viserys and Rhaenrya - all clad in white - rise from a feast table that’s been set up in front of the Iron Throne. People applaud as Viserys says in voice over, “I hope to herald in a second age of dragons.” We see two dragons fly over the water. Rhaenyra looks out over a sun set.
We cut to Rhaenys (Eve Best) telling her husband Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint), “Rhaenyra’s succession will be challenged.” Then there’s a quick montage of the Lannisters rolling into the royal wedding and a guilty looking Criston alone with Alicent. Rhaenys says, “Knives will come out.” Then there’s a montage of fighting at Rhaenyra and Laenor’s wedding feast.
There’s a shot of Alicent looking sad, Corlys looking like a badass, Daemon wearing a hood, and Otto says in voice over, “The king will die,” as we get a shot of Viserys looking half dead in front of his beloved model city of Old Valyria. There are some dramatic shots of Rhaenyra as Otto adds, “And if Rhaenyra succeeds him, war will follow.” Someone falls off a horse and Alicent shudders as she sees something happen in a courtyard below. Otto tells an upset Alicent, “Prepare Aegon to rule.”
The fifth episode opens with a visit to Runestone, the castle of House Royce where Daemon's wife Lady Rhea lives. This castle is in the Vale, where House Arryn rules. You'll remember them from "Game of Thrones" with Lysa Arryn and her son Robin, who were both manipulated by Littlefinger. Yohn Royce was one of the lords in the Vale who felt distrustful of Littlefinger in "Game of Thrones."
But here in "House of the Dragon," we get a clear picture of Prince Daemon's cruelty and intent to escape his assigned lot when we see him kill Lady Rhea and stage it to look like a "hunting accident."
In "Fire and Blood," Martin's fictional historical account of the incident says Rhea's death was "a tragic mishap."
"The 'bronze' of Runestone, Lady Rhea Royce, fell from her horse whilst hawking and cracked her head upon a stone," the book said, continuing on to say that she "lingered" for nine days before finally dying.
This is just one more example of how the "House of the Dragon" writing team is creating a new (and one could argue, more objective) account of the events in "Fire and Blood." While some fans had always suspected foul play in Rhea's death, the show makes it unambiguous that she was killed in order to further Daemon's personal desires.
Larys Strong makes important moves in this episode, and there may be a magical connection between his presence in the godswood and the events to come

Its not HDR. So i guess you got a TV thats in theory HDR capable (as in knows how to handle the HDR layer) but doesnt get bright enough to actually deliver a decent HDR image. I got a 1500 nits mini LED TV and it doesnt look dark at all with Dolby Vision enabled. The trailer only looks way more washed out and gresyish (obviously). Thats actually pretty common with early OLEDs and cheap HDR TVs, that dont even get 500 nits brightness, which is not even close to enough for actual HDR to look decent.
Or maybe the SDR master is shit if you dont watch in HDR? Dont know, it looks alright with Dolby Vision

The King shouldn’t have remarried, or he could have avoided having more children, or he could have made sure all the children grew up caring for each other. I would hate it, but he could have made Aegon the heir and marry Rhaenyra to him or keep her as heir and still get them to marry. As a father he needed to protect his children against the influences of instigators and made sure the kids would support each other. Heck, make Damond the heir again. Pass that burden to him.
He should have never named his daughter heir.
Alicent was right in suggesting aegon marrying rhaenyra. The king set all his kids for failure.
Viserys is kind man but didnt suit as a king. Even if Alicent and Aegon II didnt want the throne, the civil war will always happen because at the time man chose burn the throne rather see woman rule (Even the war could start from Rhaenyra kids if for example she have first daughter as heir, and her second son want throne, and this things gonna happen over and over again). And he must know that, he even being king because of that rule (he chosen as king stepped over Princess Rhaneys). The only way to avoid the war is married Rhaenyra and Aegon II (idk why he didnt want that idea). And after that, he go blind see Rhaenyra having bastard kids as heir (not only one but 3). Rhaenyra already in danger position, and she having bastard kids just show how irresponsibility of her. I mean i also didnt support the Green Queen but all this mess up start from Viserys short term reckless decision
The king failed to make many decisions and the ones he made seem to have always been the wrong ones. Good intentions bad execution type of guy.

It's going to get worse for the rest of the season, then the time jumps will stop. But they'll go from Alicent having toddlers in Episode 5 to her being a grandmother by Episode 8.

Feels fast paced, I hope they don't go in the steps of their forefathers to flesh out 3 seasons in like few episodes where the Night King just goes yolo mode.
Well this is context, most of these events are just mentioned in the books. Next season would be the one starting with the main storyline

But the tension in EP 1-5 felt so super important, like the world peace is at the stakes and with dragons it's similar to preventing nuclear war somewhat, perfectly fitting in modern days. So I thought this was it, the game of thrones, therefore next episodes would be even faster with this speed as baseline. But if it's the other way around then okay thanks.
@@TrooperJet Yeah, basically the first 5 eps was like a prologue to the main story, setting up all the animosity and drama that will unfold in the main story. Even the next few eps seem like they will sort of continue this prologue, until the Dance of the Dragons truly begins either late this season or start of season 2. Good way to set it up imo. If they just skipped this everyone would be super confused.
Also several people that have been introduced already and seemed not important will pop up again older and with more to do. For example, the Blackwood kid that killed the Bracken when people were trying to get Rhaenyra's favour - he'll be an adult now.

This show made me like/feel for Alicent, something I didn’t do for the book version. Well done because now I’m going to be conflicted as hell with what’s comes next.
They did the same with Cersei Lannister. Though show Cersei is still pretty bad she's nowhere near as bad as her book counterpart.
With that being said I absolutely cannot stand Alicent in the book.
They made Alicent more sympathethic in the show, in one part, you are feeling sorry for her who tried her best to please Viserys and even had a hard time to take care of Rhaenyra who rebelled against her being his wife. But, after see her entrance of her wearing a Green Dress as part as she's done with Targaryen's bullshits as what I've seen on internet, she's wearing Green to represent her family, House Hightower as Targaryen likes to wear red and black, she tried to show her villainous side. Because later we see in the next preview, she tried to stab Rhaenyra.
I felt very sympathetic to Alicent but after the last episode and the preview she has lost all sympathy for me. Getting mad at rhyneara for "lying" (which technically she only lied a little of at all lol) when she saw her father for 6 months without telling her friend anything. While she's consoling her over her mother's death, she's secretly dating her dad basically. Fecked up

When she found out Rhaenyra lied n Viserys knew about it as well but they still send her father off along with her father's warning about the future n safety of Alicent's children ...I think that's when she knew she will always be an outsider no matter what. Maybe dts y she wore the colour green thus embracing fully of being a hightower. I haven't read the book tho but I feel like people just love to hate Alicent. Adult her may become evil but I do like n feel bad for the younger one.

No, it'll keep skipping until the end of season 1. In episode 6 Prince Aegon is in his early teens, by the time the war starts he'll be in his early twenties and have children of his own.
At 0:55, is that Ser Criston Cole, is that a new actor playing the role now? They look similar but yet different, I don't know it's the makeup or different actors.
