House of the Dragon - Episode 8: TEASER TRAILER (4K) | Game of Thrones Prequel (HBO)

- We have one more new set of actors to get to know on House of the Dragon. Yes, the show is jumping forward in time yet again in “The Lord of the Tides.” That said, this will be the last time the show will swap out actors because of a time jump! There shouldn’t be any more significant time jumps for the remainder of the show, however long it lasts.
On Rhaenyra’s side of things, Jacaerys Velaryon is now played by Harry Collett and Lucerys Velaryon is now played by Elliot Grihault. We’re not sure who’s playing Joffrey, who’s a baby during Episode 7. Finally, Daemon’s kids Baela and Rhaena will now be played by Bethany Antonia and Phoebe Campbell. Again, these are the characters assuming their final forms. They won’t change out again, or if they do, it won’t be because of a time jump.
As for the plot of the episode itself, Alicent and her team are tightening their grip on King’s Landing. We don’t see Viserys in the trailer, but apparently he’s too weak to sit the Iron Throne, which shouldn’t be surprising given his condition. The fact that he’s even alive is kind of a miracle. Otto takes his place, and I think we all know where his loyalties lie.
For reference, Aegon Targaryen is now played by Tom Glynn-Carney, Aemond is played by Ewan Mitchell, and Helaena is played by Phia Saban. We get a clear shot of the three of them in the trailer.
Viserys is sicker than ever, it seems, while the Sea Snake has suffered an injury in the Stepstones. The Iron Throne and the Driftwood Throne appear to be up for grabs, and a big battle is presumably coming. Otto Hightower himself, the Hand of the King, alludes to this, saying, "The threat of war looms."

@@francoisfournier30 I rewatched the entirety of GOT in preparation for HOTD, I watched the long night in a dark room, full brightness and you can see fuckall, especially during the dragon fight scenes. Not to mention the editing is shite too, if you play it in 25% speed, you can even see they threw in shots that were rotated 180° to make it even more disorientating. This was done most likely due to budget reasons.
@@jackthompson1544 I don't know what to tell you brother, lol I have no problem with dark scene... you might need some glasses?? lol really like dark scene are supposed to be dark lol, you wont see it as well as day light, but its the plan, to make it more dark, what ever the reason (budget ok lol) that does not matter what ever the choice they took, dark scene look great as mysterious feel and ambiance it creates... I don't know what to tell you because, I saw everything without any issues, just sitting in front of my tv, shutting curtains and light around me so to set me up for success on watching a tv show.
Unless you are talking about a specific scene in the episode, like when they send the dotraki in the darkness and the torches extinguished, yup you cant see what's happening but its not something they wanted to show case, obviously, and it was a directive choice. Unless I have special eyes that can see better dark radian of colors, I don't know what to tell you lol, it was fine to me.

I honestly don't think everything is the same as the books, especially since they made a lot of changes to the ages of the characters and the casting. They will likely change a lot of the deaths and leave out characters. At this point, Aegon II should already be married to Helaena and have 3 children, and it does not seem that they are already in the series after the last time jump, in addition to the fact that Rhaenyra should already have Ageon III and Viserys II, and she is only recently pregnant with Aegon III in the promotional photos, and Joffrey would have to be like 13 and they show him as 6 years old.
They might already be born. Rhaenyra grows stout after her pregnancies, never losing her baby weight.
Though I could be wrong. Hollywood has a bad habit with heavy female leads.
In the promo she is expecting her daughter since the Aegon the young and Viserys will appear in the episode.
The fact that Laenor is alive is a big change. I hope they will stop doing this.
that s not true, aegon and viserys are already born, She is pregnant with visenya. I believe haelena also had her children. Just because You dont see them in the trailer it doesnt mean they are not included. Joffrey is supposede to be 11-12 when viserys dies, and he seems a Little younger, maybe hes 10 or smth, but its not that much of a difference. Aemond is 19, aegon 22, jace 15 and Luke 14, and thats exatcly how they look in the next episode. So they didnt change a lot of things.

The books are not being retcon as the books are written from the maesters point of view and only tells these stories from accounts. The show portray the events as they truly happen.
So in this show we probably going to seer Jacaerys Velaryon, Rhaenerys' first born son and heir apparent to her throne, marrying Sara Snow in secret in front of the Godswood before they have sex and her pregnancy being the missing link that makes Arya Stark a direct descendant of Aegon Targaryen through her mother's lineage.
We all know Viserys dies, but I’m getting the distinct feeling that in the show they are going to have the greens pretend he isn’t dead and use Otto as hand to make sure Aegon seamlessly becomes king. (I know that’s not what happened in the books, I read them. I’m thinking the show is going to do things differently.)
In the books they pretend he is not dead for like 10 days, before it actually start smelling real bad in his chamber, just to have more time than the black to gather people around before the blacks.

What I meant by my OP is I feel like they are really going to make Otto a central fifure of the incident. You can see they are really, really pushing him to be one of the "villians" of the series(depending on who's side you choose)

You realize the Dance was over 2 years. The time jumps in the show are there to bring us up to when the Dance starts. I wanna see all the battles and not rushed bullshit like we got at the end of Thrones. There's rumor that House of the Dragon will have more seasons but set in different eras of the Targaryens.

D&D did say that Martin told them in general how the major characters and things were going to end. That's why as early as Season 2, they included images of Dany walking through the falling ashes of King's Landing in her dream. They dumped Martin's a$$ because the guy stopped writing ASOIAF and instead became more infatuated with the Targaryens' past characters than all the current Lannisters and Starks combined. He left them hanging without much material to go on and they had to come up with the dialogue and interconnecting threads themselves to deliver the ending that GRRM drew up. Now that it's over and got such bad reviews, Martin is now just trying to salvage his future books while cashing in more on the Targaryen name because that's where all the big $ is: Blond wigs, incest, and dragons.

In the book Cole kills Joffrey in tournament, not in the midst of a wedding feast, so it's a lot less outrageous. In the show it's simply a plothole. I don't know what the writers were thinking.

The King is sick (dying) so the hand takes on his duties and sits on the throne while he is not well.
Of course in the setting of the story means that Otto will no doubt use that power for his own gains
It is because he is the hand of the king and the king is sick so he is the acting king.
