    That's my car! Thanks Quinn And Slip Angle Media crew for a nice run down, and review of her. She was not built for setting lap times. It is a daily street cruiser for me. My previous S2000's were track duty, but life take over, priorities, kids,...lol. Good to have a daily driver and your back in one piece, on a long trip, and a car that rips! I'll build a GR86 next for the track.. Maybe... Really eyeing it.

    Hey I just thought of something that could be cool if you know well enough ahead of time if someone's going to let you shoot their car, see if they can grab some kind of alignment spec information. It would be very interesting to see their alignment before you do the track impression because so often (even with the recent Corvette video & many more) I was thinking to myself, man.. I bet they just have a factory alignment and not enough negative front camber. Like if we knew ahead of time that the nd was on stock alignment specs, then we'd be able to imagine more of what it could be like compared to how it is or something like that.
    Not saying the Corvette would be a huge difference with more negative front camber but it would probably aid the audience in understanding to see alignment specs for each track impression. I know it wouldnt be possible for every car but it would be cool.
    Cuz for example say u drive another turbo NA and it has just -2 front camber but you're blown away by the front bite then I'd know it may not be totally necessary to run more than that if we don't track the car as much as we daily.
    Duno either way awesome 👍 content as always lol the recent white Corvette video was hilarious 😂 "just duce the gas and it whaaarrrmp" 'murica

    • @Nasonix2
      @Nasonix2 Před 2 lety

      But more importantly it would be better to know if the ND did already have added front negative camber and it still pushes out like that.

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  Před 2 lety +1

      He mentioned after he had it aligned, but with less front camber than rear which supports the handling characteristics I experienced.

    • @Nasonix2
      @Nasonix2 Před 2 lety

      @@TheSlipAngle yeah Mazdas OEM alignment is less negative front camber than rear so that the everyday newbie RWD driver doesn't have to deal with accidental oversteer. In their own words they said something along the lines of "the average driver can better handle an understeer event than oversteer. Plus it's a short wheel base car so I don't blame them. But that's why it's so important to get a more track oriented alignment!

  • @youcanrunnaked
    @youcanrunnaked Před 2 lety +1

    "Temperamental" when pushing it -- Looks like you were overpowering the chassis. The car is neutral at the limit on less power. With 240+ hp at the crank, I'd go with a more aggressive alignment, another 1/2 drop in the ride height, and better dampers. I think it would still be very streetable, while for track days, switching to stickier tires would also help.

    • @opmike343
      @opmike343 Před 2 lety +1

      He honestly needs a proper coilover setup like a set of Xidas, Fox, or Sakebomb Ohlins with that power. That car benefits from these even stock. Also, the ND1 Bilsteins are a bit much for the Progress Springs which are a better pair for something like the ND2 Bilsteins which have a different damping profile. Typically , you'd want the higher rate Flyin Miata springs for the ND1 Bilsteins assuming you don't just bite the bullet for a proper matched coilover setup.

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  Před 2 lety

      The car just needs more front camber. The owner admitted that the current alignment has less front camber than rear and that creates that understeer and edginess with big slip angles. It's fine for normal driving but not so fine if you want to play with the car and drift.

    Also it's just leaving horsepower and torque, not to mention driveability and mileage, on the table. Dyno tuning is worth it on any non-stock engine configuration.
