  • There are different approaches to voice training and they all have particular areas of focus. I have always taken the perspective that good voice is all about openness and that openness starts in your body. That idea is so intuitive for me that I often assume it makes perfect sense to everyone else, but I know from experience that it doesn’t. Here’s my attempt to explain one of the underlying assumptions at the bottom of my approach to voice training.

Jay, thanks for the idea of thinking of our entire body - not just our mouth and chest - as contributing to great speaking. Science has confirmed can train our brains to gradually change our behaviour (through neuroplasticity). We can certainly use our imagination and our bodies to enhance our voice and speech .

Jay, this is awesome! I love your illustration with the guitar. I am going to try this. I need to get back to doing your "Favorite Voice Exercise" video. I would love to continue working with you again at some point because I think your teaching is very valuable. It would help for speaking (never been a great speaker) and singing (which I love). Thanks.
