- A Taylor Swift fan account, LegitTayUpdates on Twitter, went inactive for 2 months in 2019, as they were in a prison in Israel. Once the Swiftie made a returning tweet explaining their lack of parody updates, the Taylor Swift Updates account went viral on stan twitter. From sneaking in One Direction fanfiction to punching a guard in the face, legittayupdates managed to update their followers of their prison antics, through letters given to a friend. After a series of news articles and a podcast interview that allowed they to educate others, N, the account owner, disappeared after their accounts were removed.

I was mutuals with her on both of her accounts before she deactivated! I would like to clear up a couple of things on her whereabouts (but take my info with a grain of salt since I have no sources) - she was living in the States but for some reason had to go back to Israel to be with her immediate family around the time the pandemic hit.
The Australia thing... is something different. She's talked about how she used to be neighbors with Felix from Stray Kids while her family lived in Australia as a kid (her father nearly ran him over, apparently). I won't debate the validity of that anecdote, but I didn't realize rumors that the whole thing was fake have become so widespread until this year. People even think she isn't Israeli even though she's spoken/written Hebrew before? It's sad that she isn't here to defend herself, but it does appear that she deleted her remaining socials for her mental health (she was radio silent a month before deactivating). I can only say that I hope she's doing okay now, she helped bring awareness to a good cause regardless.

Thanks for the update! You were mutuals with a legend! There isn't much online about what happened to her post prison, so thank you for this! I also saw some recent rumours on Twitter while researching that the BBC had done a report on a girl, who like N, also refused and was imprisoned. But there wasn't much evidence of the girl being N and it's why I blurred the girls face in the recent tweet I showed towards the end of the video, as people have been sharing it saying its her, but I couldn't find any concrete proof of it. It seems like there is a lot of misinformation going around about her! I hope she's doing well now too!

I find it quite funny that people think ‘stans’ are unintelligent, especially admins for update accounts. if they’re from a country different than the artist, they speak more than one language, are proficient in photoshopping and video editing and even coding and are able to organise entire events from their phones. All of that while maintaining a normal ‘real’ life with jobs, school/university.

Definitely one of the more admirable reasons to do jail time! It reminds me of stories I heard about Americans during the Vietnam war getting into legal trouble for dodging the draft or trying to move to Canada because of moral opposition to the war. Back then a lot of people tried to make it sound shameful or cowardly to do that, but it’s actually extremely brave and strong to know your beliefs and fight against the pressure to contribute to something you know is wrong. I admire those people and this mysterious N person a lot. True legends!

i was mutuals with N both before and after this happened. she is genuinely hilarious and i would frequently give her suggestions for fake updates. i have a very distinct memory of her tweeting about being a bisexual communist. she and i don't keep in touch anymore because we never exchanged instagram usernames and neither of us use twitter nowadays, but she was a great friend. i do sincerely hope she's doing ok, i think about her fairly regularly. to this day i am still spreading her gospel about thug story being taylor's best song. because she's right.

funnily enough, the “there were five holes in the fence” tweet was likely referencing an inside joke that was created among swifties during those couple months. swifties were convinced that taylor was posting some sort of countdown to a single/album/something and then, she posted a picture of her looking through a fence. there were five holes in the fence. it essentially sealed the deal for swifties that something was coming, it obviously meant only five days until we got an announcement. alas, it meant nothing, and now whenever someone comes up with a stupid fucking theory, someone will say “ah yes, there’s five holes in the fence” or something along those lines. so they likely saw that that had happened and made a joke about it haha.
im not sure if u knew that and were just making a joke but im sure most people outside of the fandom didn’t know so figured id share :)
