- Following the release of Taylor Swift's 8th studio album folklore, Swifties (Taylor Swift fans) started the campaign BuyCardigan to try and get the single 'Cardigan' to Number 1. The stans soon began to come up with some unusual ways to get additional streams and sales for the song and album, but one stan, called TayLucifer95 decided to take things a step further, beginning their criminal era, which eventually would land them in jail. This is the story of the crazy Swiftie campaign for folklore and its singles. AKA Swifties Wildin'.

As someone completely disconnected from popstar stan culture I really love these videos, hearing the lengths fans will go to is always crazy interesting. The 1 thing I don't understand at all is why do they care if their favourite artist gets to number 1? The music is already released and is therefor them to enjoy - why are they looking for external validation? idk, just seems mad to me.
I feel the exact same way, i watch this videos bc i find the phenomenon intriguing and fascinating. It's so funny to me how someone can be so incredibly invested in a random millionaire they'll never meet and that doesn't even know they exist. Like, I get liking someone's art/looks/personality, but spending so much time and money to get some song to be #1 is crazy to me

I'm on stan twitter and I can honestly say I do not give a shit. I don't know why others do. Some of us don't. I've seen people on stan twitter say they don't get it either. A common misconception about stan twitter is that its just younger people on it. There's actually a lot more older adults on stan twitter than people think. I'm 23 but I've seen some people in their 40s on stan twitter even. Especially in certain fandoms like Taylor's fandom.
They view it as almost like a sport, I think. Like, if they hit number one then they can collectively revel in being “the best”.
