The bios was on the desktop, but I didn't see where it was placed once all of the roms were imported

Just what i needed.
You can also go into the core options of the FBA core and set it to use the Unibios which are included in the bios file, in there you can set whether or not your games are in AES or MVS and change region.

What theme of big box is that or how do you get it to show the clear logos in big box while searching for games?
Check out their video "How to make your LaunchBox look like ours". That will give you a lot of info on making it look good. A quick answer to your question: BigBox>Options>Keyboard Mappings (or Controller Buttons)>Switch View. Set that to whatever key or button you want. Then, when viewing platforms or games in BigBox, hit that button. You can cycle all the different views using it. Hope this helps.

For some reason, I can't get Launchbox to recognize NeoGeo CD as an option in Retroarch.
It doesn't work for me. I tried running MVS roms in their zip files using the FB Neo core, but Retroarch can't recognize the rom set. I tried to download the document file too, but the link no longer works! What should I do?

I just installed it but for some reason this emulator has my Aladdin Bezel on all my Neo Games. The Bezel is from Aladdin the SNES game. And I got the Bezels from Bezel Project.
Alot of the roms I download always seem to be missing files, almost everyone on of them. What is a site that has all the proper rom files to run games?. I tried using every core and none of the game work

I'm using Retroarch 1.9.0 on My Mi S Android TV box. I'm having trouble importing NeoGeo games. I can play them just fine if I scan manually; however, I only get the filenames, not the actual games and the icons aren't those of the NeoGeo. Launchbox doesn't seem to be available in Android. Is it possible to do all of this only on Retroarch? Do I need to watch the video again? Thx in advance.

@@isruler search for fba fullset or mame fullset (or romset) in the archive.org. You don't need to download the entire library, just click "show all files" or "show all" and search in your browser for "neogeo", click and download it

Tried over and over again. I get to the point where the game shows up. I go to open it and nothing happens. Not even an error message. I have the Rom in the right place, the bios, the emulator and still not working. I've tried copying, I've tried leaving in same location as suggested here. Will not open :(

Place the NeoGeo bios file in the same location you placed the NeoGeo games.

I had problems with this, but I just found a solution. Some of the NeoGeo games wouldn't start. I tested with the game Andro Dunos, and it didn't work. So, insted of choosing the 'Arcade FB Alpha' core in RetroArch, I chose to use the core named 'Arcade Mame 2010'. As far as I know, it depends on the collection of roms you have. Some rom-sets works best with some cores. Now it runs perfectly. Hope this can help others.

Aren't ALL the neogeo game part of the MAME set?
I think that only the MVS or maybe i'm mistaken and both of them are included in the same cartridge.
Doing an updated video on this would be great. Because everything on launchbox is different now. I am using 13.1. I got ps1, dreamcast, atari, Nintendo, super nintendo, genius, turbo graphics, colecovision all working. But can't get neo geo. Now I do have neo geo on retroarch working good. But I rather have it on launchbox. Thank you n have a great day
These days a video like this is hardly needed for a system like SNK Neo Geo AES, as it's a fairly straight forward one. However, we will add it to our long list to update this one in the future. In the meantime, I'd recommend heading over to our community forums for any troubleshooting help you may require.

What does fbalpha_libretro.dll have over fbalpha2012_neogeo_libretro.dll?
2012 is just an old version. You should be matching the version with your romset version.
How come you didn't give us the location to the text file with the command line parameters?

Major updates to LaunchBox has made a lot of what was brought up in this video unnecessary. When we have the time we will try and release an updated tutorial for this, but until then you may want to ask over on our community forums. forums.launchbox-app.com/
You forgot to show us how to turn on blood. ;- ) I know you can enable blood in MVS, can you in AES? Also, there's no difference in game quality (MVS vs AES)?
The main difference between AES and MVS is that MVS is like the arcade machine, you throwin a credit and play, the only way to change options is via dipswitches, whereas the AES you get a screen between pressing start and the game start, that gives you the ability to change the options (and in KOF, the ability to choose the type of game you want to play)
Yeah, I know one is arcade and one is console. I just didn't see an option via console to turn on blood. Maybe I'll need to take a second look. Is there a way to do that? So there's no difference between playing games on MVS vs AES? They all play exactly the same in terms of graphics/gameplay/frame rate etc?
set the core to use Unibios, when unibios starts hold down the BCD buttons, this will setup the cabinet, then change the options.
Some AES games give you limited continues too.
Games don't boot for me.
It tells me the Core is missing but Retroarch downloaded the Cores like you did.

I know this reply is really late but if your still trying to get this working perhaps I can help. Do your games boot if you launch them directly from retro arch. Go to load content, select your game, load archive and then it’ll ask you which core to use, select fba 2012. If this works I think your problem is probably that launch box is looking for the wrong core. I can talk you through fixing this if needed. If they still don’t load you probably have a bad romset or your missing the bios file
Clint Caillouet I was the same neither worked for me. I can only assume something has changed in either retroarch or launch box since he made these videos. I’ve got it working myself though. Happy to try and help if I can?
@@jamiehicks8835 I just tried what you suggested and they do launch through FBA 2012 on retroarch, just not on LaunchBox. What was your fix?

This doesn't work in 2023 unfortunately. Followed this exactly. The only difference is that the fbalpha cores are now 2012 versions which have 2012 included in the core name.
