Hi Mystie, I am 72 and still rock n roll.three times a week. and help instruct. Usually take the ones with two left feet and after a couple of months have them up and running. makes me feel good to see them on the dance floor.
just as I remember it and the first showing of rock around the clock we were all dancing in the cinema Isles. Those were great days we never got bored there were always friends cafes and dance halls and of course cinema .
Hi, I am a 72 yrs young Australian female and have been doing rocknroll and swing for 12 yrs' Only trouble I have is i cannot get a regular partner around my age who can keep up. and the young ones do not want to dance with an old chick, I now help instruct at my local dance studio and will keep doing it till either my legs/heart give out ..LOVE It
I knew Frannie beecher bills guitar player very well. I also had a band and Fanny would sit in and play with quite a few times. Fannie is a world class guitar player.and the nicest guy in the world.let’s remember in the early days,Elvis opened for bill Haley.frannie told me he was just a very nice guy.I have many more stories from.but I,m gonna close.the best paul?
I'm not a professional dancer, but I dance rock and roll like that, since was a child. Great Bill Haley. CZcams search DISCO 45 and VIVA EL ROCK AND ROLL (Manuel Vargas) and you will see an honoring from Chile to the best music of all times.
for me, the saddest part of modern dance is that it's rare to find partner dancing anymore. people aren't connected on the dance floor, everyone is doing their own thing (unless they're grinding). a greater percentage of the poplation danced when partner dancing was big because when you have a partner you're not selfconcious of how you look, you're too busy making sure your partner is having a good time
Its hard to be connected to the dance floor with the rubbish that passes for music today. Back in the 50s we loved our music, wanted to dance all night....and....note there are no fat people in this clip! I wonder why?
Not true. Not as many as today though. Height is not connected to health by the way. Humans over six foot are prone to spinal problems and this will only get worse as humans become more un-naturally tall.
Bill Haley covered Little Richard's song. I often consciously think, "I don't blame the Little Richards, Fats Domino and the other original black R&B performers who watched Haley, Pat Boone and the others for covering their tunes and making bigger hits out of them than the originals."
Oh, here we go again. Do you understand the word chronology? Bill Haley and Elvis were both doing R'n'R before Little Richard, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry etc. Oh, and those black performers had no issues at the time with whites doing their version of black music. It is only in todays sad revisionist world that such things are even mentioned. If you want to know the real reason why white had more success...well the blacks only made up 12% of the population. Do you expect 12% to dominate? Please stop with the black v white stuff and simply enjoy teh music as EVERYBODY did back then. I certainly did and the subject of skin shade was never an issue.
To indigoBlu736. Come to Ingleburn RSL on Monday night s if you live in Sydney and in 8 weeks you could be on your way . The dancers you saw probably learnt all that in 12months Rock and roll moves are all made with hand signals. Give the signal and the girl knows what to do next, Go and learn somewhere and then report back here You will love it.
Let me tell you, call it what you want but that's swing changed up some. The foot work in the dancing got better. I'm a guitar plyer in a string swing band and I know swing when I hear it. It don't mean a thing if it aint got that swing, and this has it.
You think you have something rare, only in Audio but what about Bill Haley choosing his Favorite 12 records..........Some suprises in this..... But cannot remember them at present as I have it recorded on an old Reel to Reel tape recorder.. Would guess this must have been 1962...the forever teddyboy
The Anglo-Saxons adopted the music and dances of those years from African Americans...And at the same time they were engaged in racial segregation...This is savagery and shame.
Not another revisionist. You do not know what you are talking about. Racial segregation was only in some areas in the south. It was R'n'R music that ended it. Where do you get this Anglo-Saxon rubbish from? Are you calling all whites Anglo-Saxons? If you are, that is an insult.
Also, there is more segregation today and it is self run. Back then any white could walk into a black neighborhood and be ok. Try that today and you will get a gun up your back. Young revisionists like you really havnt a clue.
Yep - us 50s people were all pretty good movers. And no drugs or narcotics in those days - the music alone was all we needed.
Well said my fellow 50s dancer!
In top of that, no suggestive clothing from the women.

Thank you to those of you in this age group. I'm only fifty. To the twenty yr. olds of today, take heed and learn something here.
