This music makes you smile uncontrollably
I was born in1953 and the Twist dance craze came out in 1962 and let me tell you it was huge at the time. I remember girls dancing in the aisles of the local movie theater when ever a twist movie with Chubby Checker in it was shown. Blackie Marsalis, the floor man/projectionist armed with his flashlight, shooing them back into their seats. Great times.
Im 78 years old, when i heard this mu hips auromatically started moving. Thank you for the memory.

It's unfortunate that Hank Ballard and the Midnighters never got the acclaim, nor the fame they deserved, for being the originators of this song.
Chubby Checker's version is a near perfect cover of Ballard's version.
An interesting aside anecdote I heard from one of Checker's band members, when he was doing retro revival, years later:
he was known, whimsically, as cheapie checker by his backing band, at that time, for sending the band on a bus to their next gig with him, while he himself traveled by air. [lol]
The band genuinely liked him, but could not resist using that little nickname dig, among themselves. This the first time I've even shared it.
It was an amusing enough behind the scenes comment that should not pass into history without being noted in writing.
This is May 2024 and this version of LET'S TWIST AGAIN, continues to be exceedingly entertaining, exceptionally electrifying, enormously exciting and exclusively elating. ❤❤❤

😄👍Those days were wonderful I can tell you because we went to the local dances every Saturday and dressed just like that. The girls with their brightly coloured gathered dresses & skirts and cancans with flat heeled rock & roll shoes. We twisted & shimmied our shoulders, did the monkey, through our partners over our backs or slid them through our legs. Oh my oh my! 😁😃 🤼♀️ It was so much fun. I feel so nostalgic when I see these old videos. Those were the good old days in my teens and early twenties in Africa. ☺

It was wonderful! At my Catholic School the nuns were not happy with us "Twisting". They'd die w/ 2016's "dancing" though.

Great Edition of the 1960's Dancing !!!!!
I Love this, it clearly shows our true character as teenagers way back then growing up! The twist is what started it along with all of his other hits. I saw Chuby a few times a few years back and he still had it. He definitely needs to be in The Rock& Roll Hall of Famer. He taught us how to Dance when we were kids with the Opposite sex. It was pure Fun and Pleasurable. A revolution in Rock & Roll occurred which was like a freight train! The best times of my life and all others who truly experienced it! Loved it all!

Such a beautiful sight. I miss music like this so much. It's before my time, but there is such celebration and joy in the music. You just don't hear music much like that anymore. Music that's made for the fun of it, to celebrate life instead of protest it or hate it. It's so nice to see a new generation go back to basics and get lost in the happiness of music and dance.

2022 and this is still better then most of todays music. The times when people would actually sing and create their own music, people had to work at their craft. Times when music was a true art form unlike today.

Steve and Chanzie are my 2 favorite dancers, they really remind me of my parents who were awesome dancers back in the 50's,(many dance contests won back in Brooklyn,NY) anyway, thanks so much of reminding me of them, and seeing the joy of dancing in the 2 of you!
