It was almost compulsory in those days to keep cranking out the same tunes once a "hit song" was established. This is why a lot of blues and rock tunes can be played in your sleep without much cognitive effort. It's more about the feel than the technical prowess. In fact, the lead solo in Rock Around The Clock is identical to another one of their songs (can't remember the title at the moment).
