I remember when I was a kid and this movie would come on TV my old man would just roll his eyes. My dad wasn't into Elvis at all but he could definitely see the power of Elvis's performance and the influence he had on the younger generation. Elvis was a force of life. 🙏

Elvis never knew how to dance. He doesn't know how to dance. In this film, he couldn't keep up with the other dancers, they tried lots of takes for nothing, zero, he couldn't do it. So they let him do his leg shaking routine to finish it. And in all his other films he does the same thing.

You don't have to write a song when your the King. Ask King Charles.
Why should that be the standard for greatness? Many of the greatest song writers never performed, does that mean their songs aren't worth hearing? I would include Elvis among the greats because he took a song to heart, in much the same way that a great actor creates a character using someone else's words. Peace 💚

But Elvis was above all a great singer and never a dancer or an actor. **** Remember Elvis was asked to play " Tony " in the 1961 movie of " West Side Story" and the colonel rejected the offer saying it's impossible because Elvis was always the only star in his films. It seems that Elvis would have liked to play in a big production with real actors and a real story but how could he have played in West Side Story when it was a musical and all the actors were dancers except Elvis? It would have been embarrassing for Elvis to shake his leg during the 2 hours of the film. **** Sorry, a mistake.. Tony was the only non-dancing role in W.S. Story. He's the one who sang "Maria, Maria...".
