I am 76 years old and I saw this film in the local cinema; I think I was ten years old. I was dazzled by the music, its performance and the wonderful dancers. I thought I was dreaming; it was great. From Belgium.

I was 15 years old, at school , and a friend brought his recordplayer with the record of "Rock around the clock" no-one could believe this sound. we played it nonstop the whole lunch break,. It was the day rock n roll hanged our world. I think it was 1954, I've been twisting ever since, haha
My sister purchased his record lp when he visited Australia. SHE GAVE IT TO ME & IT STILL PLAYS.
Born in Goulburn NSW. Was only a toddler when this song hit the airwaves. My Mum said when this song was played on Nan and Pop's radiogram, I would jive up and down to it. Still love it now.

At any rate, it’s always nice to come across a fellow washboard player! Like you, I happen to be a Bill Haley fan. I’m only 50, though. The best music comes from your generation and older! My Dad is 76. My Mom is 73. They like 60s and 70s music. Bob Seger is a fine example of a 70s Rock Star. My Dad really likes him. Seger’s Old Time Rock And Roll will always sum up a good many things.

That got me thinking about who l saw live at my local cinema in East Ham. Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly and Gene Vincent. Saw Bill Haley at (l think) Hammersmith Palais but not sure.

I remember going to see this in 1956 in New Milford, CT with my cousin.
A candle was lit with this one song. Later a torch was lit. It eventually turned into a wide spread forest fire which ran it's course for several decades. That my friends is the story of Rock 'n roll music. 😎
And so it was the born of rock and roll ladies and gentlemen!

I saw Blackboard Jungle in the late 50s and this was the lead song. Still is a powerful part of R and R history.

Before this it was dowap. Late at night we'd listen to WLAC out of Nashville. Ernie's. Buckley's, Randy's (radio shops) - mostly black music but the music we grew up listening to. THEN came Rock & Roll.

Ele é creditado por muitos o primeiro a popularizar este tipo de música no início dos anos 1950 com seu grupo Bill Haley & His Comets e a canção "Rock Around the Clock".
Halley nasceu em Highland Park, Michigan e foi criado na Pensilvânia. Em 1946, ele formou seu primeiro grupo profissional, uma banda country chamada Down Homers, depois da qual ele passou a seguir carreira solo. Haley lançou inúmeros compactos country nos anos 40, sem sucesso, enquanto trabalhava de músico itinerante e DJ. Nice job! One thing, Haley's Gibson guitar is what would be called a "blonde" or "natural" finish...basically, tan colored wood with a clear lacquer finish on it; that finish would turn the color yellow with time.

It was Haley's music, the Platters and its leading lady Lisa Gaye who propelled this film to the greatest heights ever. Its truly timeless!!!
