I heard Bill Haley play this song a long time ago with many, many versions since. This is the best version I've heard and with the original Comets makes it special too.

No one can put the magic into Rock Around The Clock like Bill Haley. The Comets were great, unfortunately the singer wasn't for that song that I've been listening for nearly 50 years. No offence to the singer though.
Er wurde zum deutschen Elvis hochstilisiert, dabei war er stets nur ein zur Klampfe trällernder Internatsschüler aus besserem Hause, dazu mit linkischen Bewegungen ! Aber das falsche Image hat er bis heute sehr lange durchgehalten !

Kraus fehlt halt einfach das Rebellische am Rock'n'Roll. Das fehlte Bill Haley auch. Also war es in gewisser Hinsicht besser, den "schwächeren" Sänger für den Song einzuladen. Ted Herold entspricht da eher dem hüftschwingenden Elvis Presley.
Dreadful rendition - far too Muddy. One thing I liked about Bill Haley through watching CZcams, was that for many years he did not appear to care about mimicking his original version, just as long as the tempo was there, and of course an upright bass. When he did allow an electric bass into the mix, and electric piano, the whole song turned to shite.
I was 9 years old when Bill Haley did that. 1954 Loved it and still do!

I Agree, you can't really sing that song if you aren't Bill Haley, and the way he was trying to show off and look cool just ruined it for me.
