- Bill Haley was an American rock and roll musician (1925 - 1981). For many he has been the first who popularized rock and roll music in the early 1950s and million-selling hits such as "Rock Around the Clock", "See You Later, Alligator", "Shake, Rattle and Roll".
Spotlight was a music show for the youth, which was aired between 1968 and 1978 by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF). It was the counterpart to the shows "Beat Club" or "Musikladen" in Germany. - Hudba
Bill seemed like a really kind, humble man. He suffered from depression and ultimately caused his early demise from what I've read. His legacy is secured....one of the great Rock and Roll pioneers!
@Rick O'Shea Yes VERY SPECIAL MAN GONE TO SOON
@Rick O'Shea No, he did not. The brain tumor story was just a rumor started by his creepy British manager--the guy just lied through his teeth all the time. It was an excuse he used, to make a last minute cancellation of another tour....
Bill Hayley and his Comets were a great talent
That is Wayne Stephen on the drums. He was best friends with both of my parents and was like a father to me. I have never known a funnier person than Wayne - he always had people rolling on the floor laughing with his quirky way of telling stories. He was from Riverside, NJ. He passed away in 2000. He was one of a kind and is still sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
Bill Haley was vastly underrated by the powers that back in the day, he all but invented Rock 'n roll!
A real class act and one of the best in the business, in addition to the fact that he's one of the true pioneers! I'll always love BILL HALEY and his Comets.
A grand performance from the legendary Bill Haley..the Godfather of rock n roll..Bill Haley and Elvis Presley go down on my list as being the best looking 1950s singers of all time... its sad that bill Haley deteriorated quickly over the next few years after this performance..dying at the age of 56 from a heart attack..
It's amazing how good his voice is after more than 20 years
He was about 50 - hardly an old man. Why shouldn't his voice still be good? Listen to Mick Jagger at 78 years of age. Still sounds like Mick (and still commanding a huge stage.) Back in the 70s, there was a belief amongst the young that once you hit 40 you couldn't rock anymore - like some excitement gene would just shut off and you could only play mellow after that... They were wrong.
@@cameroncooper4175 I guess we are used to rock stars at 50 being shells of themselves due to drugs,
Bill Haley is my favorit artists
Bill Halley was a Class act !
I remember when I first heard this song. It opened the 70's tv show Happy Days. Great song still!!
I❤️ this song 👍👍😊👍👍👍😊❤️💗☺️❣️💗☺️❤️👍😊
I love those Sennheiser 416 microphones!
Rock Around the Clock sollte zum besten Lied aller Zeiten gewählt werden.
beautiful first rocker ✨👍thank you so much Bill💌RIP
thank you Comets
The King
Ringo Starr said the thing that triggered his burning desire to play rock n roll was when he was a little kid, he was very sick. He'd been in the hospital and just got released, was back home, and when he had the strength to get out of the house and go somewhere his Aunt took him to the movies to see Blackboard Jungle. The opening credits are put to Rock Around The Clock. At the theater they were at, the kids literally tore the place apart when the song came on. This was 1954, so he would have been about 11. He said that watching the kids tear up the place was "very good for me"..... because watching that made him feel like a million bucks!
If A Person From Now Listens To This They Are Epic
ROCKING 1976 ROCKING NOW ROCKING FOREVER..🕺❤ 🎼
La chanson qui a tout déclenché
2017年12月13日~~Still young so Great~!!
Much needed
That guitar is huge!! :D
My thoughts exactly
That Gibson Super 400 was given to him by Gibson for the movie "Blackboard Jungle", and Franny Beecher was given the then-new Les Paul custom. Beecher was the one who brought the solid body guitar into Rock WAY before anybody else--including Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins, Chuck Berry and Mickey Baker!
This is the old theme song for Happy Days
Muito bom!
The fucking legend!!!😍😍😍
bill haley yo de grande voy ser una fabrica de autos clasicos deacuerdo a tu epoca
❤❤❤❤ good morning Worldwide See you later sabsi usw ❤
lindo rok
Bill Haley is well liked on earth but he used to live in LA.
No--he never lived in LA. He lived in Vera Cruz Mexico, then relocated back to the USA in Harlingen Texas....
Come on, Austria! Two and four, TWO AND FOUR.
They're clapping to the kick drum, rather than the backbeat--that's all!
@@Pickinbuddy, from the city which gave us Mozart. Rolling over in his grave.
This was the rock that caused the rock and invasion in the world❤❤❤❤❤❤
This was filmed in November 1976.
How do you know? Please tell us your source.
I'm the young lead guitar player on the band! I was 25 when we filmed this--and I sang "Johnny B. Goode"!
Great to have you here! We've changed the date.
@@Pickinbuddy what was Bill Haley like at this stage of his life? Did he still enjoy singing the old hits or did he feel like an oldies act? I'm often curious about these things. He certainly still had great form.
@@dgtwo3724 Well, at that point he had only recently lost his main friend and business partner Rudy Pompilli, who was also in charge of the band. Bill Haley was lost without him, and frankly, retired at the end of this tour. He stayed inactive for 3 years--none of us heard anything from him! When Sonet Records (his label) was ready to drop him, he suddenly accepted a tour where he reluctantly HAD to do new songs. He had a creepy British manager who had gotten rid of all the American Comets members and replaced them with a British pub band in 1979. It just continued downhill from there, sad to say.
Show.
Is this the original lead guitarist that played this song on the record? Curious to know.
No--that was Danny Cedrone, who died before the song ever became a hit, sad to say.
It's hilarious that when this came out in the mid 50s it was considered "filth" and "corrupting the youth" LOL
If only they saw what music would become
Listen to Mouzakis 1965 version of this song and it makes a little sense tbh
like
The crowd is clapping hella off beat
Great performance ruined by the audience clapping on 1 and 3
Sorry but that was not a tight performance, I was expecting better
This performance was very early in the tour--with 3 new members no less; the rhythm guitarist, the sax player and the drummer!
@@Pickinbuddy The drummer here was Wayne Stephen, a very dear person in my life. He passed away in 2000.
Yes--I knew about that. @@ruinsane100
