      "Father" Bill became interested in the rock and roll sound, as heard in e.g. "Rock The Joint" by Chris Powell 1949, after that rock and roll sound already existed.

      Rock n Roll started way before Chris Powell's Rock the Joint. Hank Williams 1947 Move It On Over and the only true
      roots of Rock n Roll was from European Folk Music and the words Rock n Roll was first used in verbal and musical communication hundreds of years ago in England. Rhythm and Blues and similar words are all come from England and included in music for hundreds of years. Chris Powell is not the inventor of Rock n Roll music or his contemporaries in
      Rhythm and Blues. Bill Haley was the only man that experimented music and always had that element to his music way before his recording of Rock the Joint because country music is closer to Rock n Roll than Rhythm and Blues fact. Without country music and European Folk music there be no rhythm and Blues artist or them using those words to identify the music they played. Rhythm and Blues artists needed European music and words and storie words in rhythm and Blues songs and none of it originated from African source whether in America or Africa itself. Bill Haley had the relevant and ancestral background for the music of Rock n Roll as he is the only true and original father of Rock n Roll. Chris Powell on the other hand ancestors were of African origin a place that had no music to develop rhythm and Blues sound or it's words to name that music it all derived from the natives of England. Not a single Rhythm and Blues artist invented or created Rock n Roll 100% fact instead they emulated and copied there white counterparts fact.

    Little Richard always bragged that he was the true architect of rock', roll. I always laughed because Bill and his Comets were singing rock and roll before it was called by that name, and before Little Richard was famous.

    • @uthmaanpacsa7259
      @uthmaanpacsa7259 Před rokem

      Little Richard was never the architect of Rock n Roll fact. It's Bill Haley that created Rock n Roll as he experimented music and named it so. Little Richard was an arrogant jealous copycat. He was envious of Elvis fact. He knew Elvis was simply better than he and Elvis was a recording artist before that Richard phoney chap.

    No exaggeration here folks. I was there as a 15-17 year old male. Before Haley and Presley there was, in the UK here, a musical lassitude hangover from the death of King George IV in '53. There was American Forces Network in Germany and Radio Luxembourg, "Wonderful 2-0-8!'....and they played mostly crooners and big band stuff...nothing in the UK. Then it happened...Haley and the 'Blackboard Jungle' and 'Rock Around The Clock.'....that's when the modern age of pop began, and I can't convey to you how exciting it was. Presley followed hot on the heels of Haley to perpetuate the musical excitement.........but Haley started it, kiss curl and all!

    After World War 2 the USA progressed faster than any other country in the world since they entered the war late and didn't spend as much money. Rock and Roll music was one of them and Bill Haley was the first one to break big everywhere thanks to his song Rock Around the Clock being used in a movie!

    Two things made the music great. The music itself is rocking, which goes over many peoples heads because even remasters sound shabby. Anyone who listens to this stuff, myself included, we tune our ears to the recording or we wouldn't listen. Secondly, even bands doing this stuff live can let you down. What real brought the music to life is Bill Haley. It was Elvis Presley. Johnny Cash. Little Richard. In a time when this stuff could be as dull as a chalkboard, their energy and life and charisma made it great. I wasn't alive back but I was raised with a few good cover bands in my town who were real firecrackers. Good rock makes you feel like you're on stage with the guitar rocking out. If you don't feel that it ain't good rock.

    I heard a sad story that one time a couple decades later, Bill Haley was in a crowded bar or a club, and someone mentioned that he was Bill Haley, but literally nobody in the place knew who he was. He even started singing one of his hits, or he found it on the jukebox and played it, or something along those lines....and everyone just laughed at him. That must have been so heartbreaking for him to experience. I heard that once he realized that his accomplishments weren't really well known by the general public, he became very depressed and reclusive and also started drinking heavily. I can't say for sure that any of this is fact, but I remember hearing this story somewhere. Perhaps it's at least partly true.

      If I'm not mistaken, when Haley toured Europe in 1956 the Comets consisted of (what many consider there best and most talented lineup) Al Rex, Jonny Grande, Bill Williamson, Franny Beecher, Ralph Jones, and Rudy Pompilli. Marshall, Joey, and Dick Richards where long gone by then.
