Saw this in the flesh a couple of months ago. At first thought 'hmm that's a nice clean VT', then did a double take once we spotted the front runners and the fats on the back! Proper sleeper with the time slips to back it up - great build! Keep it going and keep it unique Jim!

Lol I'm already up for 10g just for a good turbo setup not to mention the 9 grand I spent on the bottom end and the 3 grand on the top end and I ain't even done or ready for the dyno yet not to mention making the drive line hold the power it is fucking expensive and jetv6 has a bullet block

Any real Holden diehard will know that the Series 1 Buick 3.8 holds the title of "Mang" not the ecotec! Impressive setup non the less.

This is extremely impressive considering this isnt the usual route for engine building, most people go for Barras, RB series, 2JZs, LS series and Coyote engines but for an ecotec V6 this is excellent, its great to see someone trying something different.

Converting from 3.8L to 4.2L is insane, along with a whopping 40PSI, has already made this horrid monster become the nightmare of V8 owners.

@@HKSMan05 vt commodores were released for sale the first week of September 97. I bought the first vt S pac off the truck in Brisbane. Bloody cost over $40,000 then, using an inflation calculator to convert into today's value that's near $70,000 for a v6 commodore with an S badge and alloy wheels.

@@Colt45hatchback - the S packs had FE2 but I think LSD was optional. I can't recall exact details about the diff when I ordered mine in 1997.

Well done, could some please confirm something for me, did holden make a VE Redline with a factory supercharger kit mounted and with brembos at the rear, i seen it for sale on car sales and also gumtree as well they wanted 45K which is about 2.5 years ago.
A lot of kits are available, Walkinshaw can do a supercharged VF "factory" kit, but ur looking at ridiculous cost for the upgrade ($30-$35k). Harrop do a kit for $11.5k, it's meant to be 400+ rwkw, not much different than a GTS LSA...
I'd find a mint SSV Redline VF (it'll have the 6.2 LS3 naturally aspirated) and go see Harrop Australia (they have a website with all the specs on the superchargers).
...if I had money to burn I'd buy the same car and get Walkinshaw to blow it, they also have upgrades for brakes and the like too, and fancy badges...
Redline was only available in the last of the VF SS's, with a LS3 6.2L same as the Clubsport... basically an SS with a Clubsport motor from factory...
A damn good basis for decent power and boost applications on a stock motor...
I believe the car but you saw on gum tree if it had brembos, it would have been done by Walkinshaw most likely as they offer such supercharger and brake packages... I do not remember the SSV Redline having brembos factory...
The VE SSV Redline was front brembos only. No factory blower but some dealers had agreements with some aftermarket tuners and offered them as dealer options.
The reply from Chris below is pretty accurate. The VF I SSV-Redline had silver Brembo’s on the front and was powered by the 6L 270/530. (260/517 Auto) The VF II SSV-Redline came with red Brembo’s front and back. Power was from the LS3 6.2L 304/570. (Traded my VF 1 after the VF II was released) Cheers

They're old pushrod iron head boat anchors which make about 200hp stock at the flywheel. 1080hp at the hubs is pretty damn impressive by any standards

I bet that has got one of the aftermarket TA blocks with 6 bolt mains etc . No way the standard block could handle constant power of that magnitude, Im reliably informed that 6-700 is about their limit. In any case, it's not just a wrecker engine with a slug and a tune slapped onto it and sent..
Pretty sure it's a series 2, not the pre 88 Buick 3.8. They have factory 6 bolt mains and can hold a lot of power with good pistons and rods.
