  • Payless, a low-cost shoe retailer, opened a fake luxury shoe store called "Palessi" and filled it with the brand's inexpensive footwear. Consumers paid up to $600 for shoes that retail for $20-$40. Does this experiment prove that designer brands are just perceived as being luxurious rather than actually being luxurious?

This doesn’t prove Payless shoes are good. It just proves luxury shoppers are idiots. Which we already knew 😂

Luxury brands are basically doing this "prank" since forever

I don’t think I was so close to die from cringe ever when people were talking about shoes like they know the brand for 50 years lmao. What an amazing video.

The real joke is if Payless kept the lie going, they wouldn’t be bankrupt

  • @estacaotech

This is honestly a genius marketing idea, shows how much people care about social status than the product itself.

The biggest clown was "For me to experience this as an Italian designer " 😂

I'd like to think that a lot of Luxury brands started like this. Gucci, Versace, Loui Vuitton prob told their prices as a joke, and when they realized people where actually willing to pay that much they just rolled with it.

It's just pure snobbery. Most of the clothing we wear is made en masse in sweatshops all around the world, just because it has a designer name on it doesn't make it designer or exclusive.
