- A classic 1940’s noir set almost entirely aboard an ominous freighter travelling from Central America to Galveston, Texas, this film revolves around the ill-fated Joe Beck (portrayed by none other than the original Batman, Robert Lowery) as he attempts to retrieve his deceased grandfather’s fortune. With a cast filled out by B-movie royalty like Phyllis Brooks (In Old New York) and Jack LaRue (A Farewell to Arms), this little-known Golden Era gem packs a surprising amount of twists and turns into its 60-minute runtime.

I adore this neglected noir. Solid entertainment stuffed inside an hour, and I’m a sucker for the ominous, fog-drenched atmosphere aboard that rickety cargo vessel.
Wish all movies were like this
These wonderful old smoky noirs ought to be rated by number of cozy tugs under the blankets. ... Out of five I give this one 5 'Cozies'!
Keeps you interested thanks for posting.
Love these in the dark and fog.
Noir
A lot of action packed into only 1 hr. With all this intrigue happening on the ship, I would just stay in my cabin!
This was a good movie especially with the fog scenes
What an unexpected treat...to stumble on such a nice little film by pure chance!
Thanks, you detect quite enjoyable films! Appreciate your uploads. :)
thank you for this enjoyable movie.
I enjoy classic film from yesteryear.

Finally, movies I haven’t seen over and over again on other youtube channels! New subscriber! Thanks
Nice work ... ❤
Really enjoyed this - thank you
For cinephiles, this print is a bit choppy and scratchy but serviceable….
If lowerys hat git’s any bigger, it can be the urban sombrero
ENJOYED IT, THANKS A MILL. UPLOADER!!!!!!!!!!!
Robert Lowry played Batman in 1949 serial " Batman and Robin"
Good movie I have never heard of these movie stars
They were B movie actors, though I think Phyllis Brooks should have gotten a lot better roles.
Produced by William Pine and William Thomas and made by Paramount. Visual effects by an uncredited Howard Anderson and Alex Weldon.
ROBERT LOWERY LOOKS A BIT LIKE JOHNNY WEISMULLER.
Robert Lowery was the second actor to play Batman on film. U can see it here on You Tube "Batman and Robin" from (1949)
Pretty good movie.
DID NOT LIKED IT
Good short movie. Robert Lowery seems a lot like Ray Milland to me.
Do they call the grub spots on modern cruise ships, 'dining salons' still??
OK. Not the best but watchable. Thanks for uploading.
Blodwyn, that's quite the W.C Fieldsian handle....
"Cheers, Blodwyn!"
Just when did he have a chance to go to the post office?
That little bloke with the chat and horrible laugh modeled his character on Sydney Greenstreet, it was like Maltese Falcon all over again.
Just hope the lights don't go out.
On the plus side, Ben Berk was in charge of set decorations, so I reckon it all evens out.🤔
Not bad. The film had a lot of "jump" scenes in it. Joe was a bit arrogant and foolish in my opinion. Still, a good watch.
grub spots are called gastro stops:)
Gaza G....
I've also heard the name "Gastro Pub" & "Gastro Stop".
That was it for Jack La Rue? eliminated at the beginning in the skirmish with Lowery?
@remmymafia3889 You'd have preferred it if he'd risen from the dead as a zombie so he had a larger part?
0:50. Must have been made back before
California was a state.
BTW, I jumped ship at
8:20.
👍😀
Poor copy but at least it is the full movie. Pizzaflix has a better copy but missing the first part of the movie up to the first fight scene.
Greedy CZcamsrs.. to many adverts 👎
