"No, come on, what is it?
With cream...
I'm afraid to eat it.
No, this isn't carbonara.
This is overcooked pasta with cream."
"No, dai, ma che cos'è?
Ma con la panna...
Ma poi ho paura di mangiarlo.
No, questa non è la carbonara.
Questa è pasta scotta con la panna."

He really looked like he needed a hug after trying that "carbonara."
Ne avrei avuto molto bisogno 🤣🤣

A hug? It looked he needed a scotch!
Matteo's gentle disgust at everything was hilarious, thanks for posting.
SO funny!!! I remember telling colleagues in Milano how the English ate tinned spaghetti on white toast and I don't think I have ever provoked such horror in a workplace before or since.
Tell them about baked bean pizza that should trigger them
So much of it is about exposure! ..I mean if he was presented with some Asian( Indian or Tai) Dishes would he still complain? And Italians swear their Espesso( Coffee in general) is the best, but Colombians( and other South& Central American countries) might beg to differ! It's the same with Beef..Now canned Spaghetti and the real thing are ' Poles apart'
Thanks so much for making this Sicilian-American laugh so hard on a rainy, gloomy day in Brooklyn, NY. Your expressions of disgust, Matteo, were worthy of a film award.
I am laughing so hard at this. I love how Italians are so faithful to their traditions! This was absolutely hilarious though....
Well, some food combinations just don't go well with each other, it's outside of culture/tradition.
@Bryan Robb Ahah, it's true that we italians are not very "open minded" about food (at least in our majority), but you english-speaking friends don't have to feel embarassed!
As the son of an English father (Southampton) and an Italian mother (Bologna!) I grew up with affection for both places. For example, we always referred to food in England, very affectionately, as "una cosa schifosa" and even Dad described a British pub, very affectionately, to the family in Italy, as "a very nice place to have a beer, glance briefly at the food, and have another beer". Sto scherzando, ovviamente... più o meno. Mi mancano tanto.. and all the beautiful food...and all the laughs. You do a brilliant job with these episodes. Complimenti! I hope to jump in when time allows.
Ma dai! Do you ever come to Bologna? 😊
This honestly was the funniest video I've seen from a language learning video. Please more "cross cultural" videos like this!
That was great. Love how Matteo was holding back laughing when some of the food was presented to him. Molto Bene!!!!
Oh, my God - "Here is mozzarella from the Lombardy region of Italy." Matteo: "You can't do this." This is hilarious, bravissimo!
Me encanta el italiano
I'm really in love with this language
I've never laughed so hard at a language video in my life. As an American who grew up eating carbonara with eggs and (American-style) bacon, I was pretty thrown when I ordered carbonara in the UK and got a bowl of noodles in cream with ham, onions, and peas. Really wanted to see Matteo's reaction to the canned ravioli though!
My Italian husband and I can't stop laughing!
Matteo is your husband?
The last savoury dish is chicken parmo - it hails from Middlesbrough but is popular throughout the North East of England and generally eaten after a night out - i.e. when absolutely sh*it faced. Traditionally it's deep fried breadcrumbed chicken fillet, with bechamel sauce and melted cheese on top. Basically a heart attack in a box 😂
Wonderful video, I am just a beginner in Italian, so I had to read English subtitles, but your face expressions and gestures said more than words
Parmo, the national dish of my home town, Middlesbrough
I love watching Matteo's face after each tasting. So expressive and says more than words can in English or Italian. I really like Chicken with Pesto, when I told an Italian work colleague this she had the same bemusement that Matteo has with the Chicken and Pasta mixture. I made fun of her with her food rules but I guess us Brits need to bow to the Italians on this subject as they have on of the World's great cuisine.
Matteo, you should be a comedian! You are a natural!
This is top tier content. Bravi!
Loved this! More of Matteo being politely confused/disgusted by non-italian things!
I am usually laughing to Matteo but i have never laughed this much as in this section, Matteo was fantastic😂😂😂
10 months later and I'm commenting because I love this so much!! I'm not even learning Italian, I am here from Easy Spanish. Starbucks names are hilarious! So funny how Matteo became Matto (crazy). Great video!
Thank you so much!
🤣🤣🤣 Mi dispiace tanto, Matteo! Ho sofferto con te. 😭😭😭 Comunque il video è molto divertente. Grazie, ragà!
as an american that recently moved to rome: these videos have been super helpful for language learning. this one makes me feel much better about my italian cooking
(also i don't know whose house this was filmed at, but their book collection is 12/10! love that there's a noma "cookbook" AND uzumaki)
Non ridevo cosi' tanto da anni! Povero Matteo!
This had me in stitches!!
Very funny! As an English man I recognise all of those terrible concoctions. Although.. it should be stressed that they really worked hard to find the very worst examples available 😂 As a side note.. while 'Neapolitan' ice cream in the UK has always confused me, I find it equally ironic that in Napoli one can purchase 'English Soup' flavour ice cream.. what is that?!
I don't know why it is called zuppa inglese but it is a dessert with custard and sponge cake. It is really good. My mother used to make it. I would imagine it is like an English triffle.
@@frankbranchini1698 i can't believe it!! This is the very first time i find someone with my mother's surname👏👏👏. Welcome into the family Frank😊😊. By the way, where are you from? My mother's family emigrated from Italy to Argentina. Nice to meet you🖐
I suppose “zuppa inglese” is what you call custard in English as it comes from England, maybe?
@@frankbranchini1698 trifle. Yum.😋
It's worth mentioning that not only is "Italian" food outside of Italy often originating with Italian descendants who left Italy, but some foods made in the past at some point and have since fallen out of fashion. For example, Matteo mentions that they don't cook with creme anymore. Also, things like Vodka sauces were popular for a time in the 80s, but persist in popularity outside of Italy.
Wonderful! I loved this!
Grazie Ragazzi,
Mi piace questo video molto. Ho riso ad alta voce !
Povero Matteo, era molto coraggioso. 🤣
Loved this video! 😂 Hilarious!
When Matteo says something like didn't drink the cappuccino but instead I drank Prosecco di Kylie Minogue" was so funny 😆
Loving your videos ragazzi! Watching every day to learn 🇮🇹 Grazie mille 😁
Brilliant! Haven't laughed so much at "British/Italian cuisine." A video just on British food specialties like pickled eggs, and black pudding would be just as funny imo.
Questo episodio e multo bene...continue the good work!
È molto divertente. Matteo ha un talento recitativo perfetto..
Haha this really made me laugh, poor Matteo! I wonder if you could do the same in Italy with Katie trying “British” food 😆
Hilarious! Poor Matteo!🤣
I loved this video, I can't wait to show this to my Australian husband. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Video divertentissimo, ho sorriso tanto. Bravissimi
I laughed so much during this video because of how sincerely horrified he was of the food but still gave it his best shot. It was absolutely hilarious!! It made my day 😂
Veramente divertente!
Ciao raggazzi! Grazie mille! No ho riso tanto negli ultimi tempi🌞😂
I literally cried laughing but everything is true! I remember it all! 😂😂😅😅
- Sì, come no.
😂 Povero Matteo. Questo video è molto divertente.
Thanks for my laugh of the day!
Haha glad you enjoyed it! 😀
Great episode 👏 👍
ma che divertente questo video¡
Love Matteo and Katie. They’re a great duo…like coffe and cream. 😛
'Porcata' translated as 'concoction' mi ha fatto troppo ridere! 😂
Cheers to Josh for introducing the Dronny accent to all your followers :D
Mi hai fatto ridere Matteo, un grande !!!
Priceless! Funny as hell!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! 😀
Bravo Matteo, sei sopravvissuto!
This felt a bit like watching a puppy get hit with a pool noodle repeatedly, but I couldn't stop giggling.
🤣😂è stato così divertente 😜 povero Matteo !
This was hilarious..Great content. Love your channel! Aloha from Hawaii
How can you even think of eating toasts with spagetti or pasta on top? 🤯 Who got that idea?
I'm not Italian and I'm horrified just by the look of it 😳
Ma dai, what you guys put poor Matteo through! Cavolo! Poverino! Scommetto che abbia davvero bisogno di un bel pasto dalla sua mamma appunto ora (come me da mia dopo che ho guardato questo video!)(but thanks un sacco for making me laugh out loud 😂)
Dio, salvaci!
His reaction to neapolitan ice cream was indescribable but truly a res apta!
This was great
bel lavoro katie e matteo / matto 😄
(Bah, I give up! I can't conjugate well yet.)
In Milano, we found a 12 oz. Coffee shop, and walked a half mile there every morning for a "real" (siamo americani) cup of coffee! This was a great video.
This is so funny! Tbh I would like to see Pineapple Pizza😂
No…..
@@christopherlupone9941 Assolutamente!
La convenzione di Ginevra
vieta assolutamente la tortura 😂😂😂😂😂
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Matteo you’ve been brave to have tried all those 😅😘😘
"Matto", sei molto coraggioso; hai assaggiato tutto. Io non l'avrei fatto.
Il signore Matto è molto divertente 😝
Poor man, it was supposed to be a food tasting episode, but it ended up being a torture section 😂
That was so funny 😂and I learnt some language 🎉
Matteo: I have no fear.
Alphabetti Spaghetti: *Exists*
Matteo: I have one fear.
Matteo pur vivendo a Milano, sembra conoscere e riconoscere solo le ricette del sud come cucina italiana (lo so che ci giochi su, tranquillo). 😉
So mean of you to make him eat that rubbish!! LOL. The pasta I had in Firenze was so good.
Great video. Im actually learning Italian from your videos but maybe he doesn’t know that there’s so called pollo pizzaiola in Italy.
Oh dear!!!!! This was hilarious…Matteo will be scarred for life!!!
Povero “Matto”! 😂 😂 😂
Compra Sud! Buy Southern. There is wonderful artisanal food to be had from Southern manufacturers but they are forced out of the Supermarkets by the big industrial companies.
🤣Grazie mille!!! 😂
"Matto" 😂😂😂
Buon episodio
Troppo forte! 😂😅😂😅
Hilarious.
Era il più divertente puntata finche ora. Mi ha fatto ridere ogni volta Matteo ha provato qualcosa. Bravo.
Hahahaha!
Hilarious! The best
The starbucks « cappuccino » is empty 🤣
The "cotoletta alla pizza" is an Argentinian recipe, we call it "milanesa napolitana", and we know that has nothing to do with Napole but that´s only the name!!
😂🤣😂 Forte!
