Johnson seemed to have thought that Holden and company had stolen the Roci. He was visibly surprised to learn that the Martians had fought to get them off the Donnager, and at that point he asked if there were any Martian bodies on board.
Amos would have been angry about Holden logging the distress call, except Naomi said it was the right thing to do. Amos was hurt, however, that Naomi was afraid of him...even though he would kill or die for her.
Amos was raised in brothels and has empathy and respect for sex workers.
If you remember, when Alex was hypoxic, he was mumbling a argument with someone that he'd come back home after one more run.
Mateo had been listening to an OPA propagandist talking about hurling rocks at Earth, which gave him the idea of tossing his rocks at the Martian patrol.
That guy at the end with the camera eye had earlier been posing as one of Johnson's techs on the Roci. He must have been doing something wrong, because Naomi angrily took his task from him and gave him a hard look.

People who are used to other sci fi shows sort of roll their eyes Mateo opening his helmet to remove the sparking wire. It's actually accurate based on accidents in a vacuum chamber, you can stay conscious for about 20 seconds, you don't flash freeze like seen in movies because your body retains heat and you have to exhale to remove air from your lungs. Rock Hoppers have a lot of experience with on the fly repairs since most have old and overused vacuum suits.

You may want to go back and listen to when Dawes is explaining the scar on his neck. Back when Dawes was a young rock hopper, they had some crappy space suits, and the part that connects the suit to the helmet at the neck, would short circuit, and heat up, causing the skin to scar (out in space, can't just take off the helmet). All young belters that have a tatoo around their neck, the tatoo represents the scars old belters got. The younger generation paying respect to the older generation.

Not sure if you noticed, but Diogo was the same guy robbing water on Ceres that Miller let go.
Hoss, is texan slang. From Wikitionary
(Southern US, slang) A big, strong and respected or dependable person, usually a man; one who is large like a horse. (Southern US, slang, often capitalized)
Basically Alex is using it like Sir.
The guy at the bar did have a camera in his eye, and was the spy that Avarsarala was commandeering at the beginning of the episode.
You were commenting on something else at the time, but you may have missed something that Naomi said to Johnson, she said that she'd do his mission, but in return at some point in the future, she would come to him with a name of someone she wants found, something worth filing away in your brain.
Loving your reactions, you are doing a great job picking up on the details. This will make the remaining episodes of this season extra enjoyable for you, as the last puzzle pieces fall into place and the bigger picture emerges.

I wouldn't so much say Texas slang as it was used in the old west quite a bit and even one of the sons on the TV Show Bonanza was called Hoss I assume because of his size.

@@evilvolts Basically Big Man... either figuratively or literally. The reason I mentioned Texas specifically was because of the Texan connection with Mars' colonisation within the Expanse universe.

Captain Yao of the Donager, RIP, handed Lt. Lopez that data card before ordering him to get Holden off the ship and safely transported to Mars. Lopez, once donning his vac suit/combat armor, put the chip in that storage pocket in his suit. Yao, if I recall correctly, said all the data regarding the attack on the Donager, including all the data, like drive signatures of the attacking ships, was on that chip. The former Col. Johnson could easily be educated as to the armament worn by Martian soldiers, so he went looking in what to him must have been the logical place to find something, and he found the chip Yao had entrusted to Lopez.

I think that was likely a combat recorder that Johnson would have fully expected to provide information (he'd have no reason to expect anything else), but Lopez would have likely put Yao's card into that same slot.

    Great reaction and analysis!
You're doing a good job following the story! Keep in mind this first season is a mystery. Answers are coming!
Also continue to be on alert for small fragments of backstory for our characters. For example Naomi told Fred that someday she will come to him with a name ( no questions asked). Couple that with something she has said in an earlier episode.
Can't wait for the next one!

Ich sage immer, wenn Alex Holden auf der Roci anspricht "The ship is ready. Are you?", dann ist das nicht nur an Holden gerichtet, sondern auch an den Zuschauer, denn ab jetzt geht die Fahrt ab! :)

I really have to compliment you on your close attention. I've watched many Expanse-reactors so far, but you are certainly the most attentive so far. Which is really very important for this show.
Du erinnerst dich nicht nur an Namen von kleinen Nebenfiguren wie Bosch (ok, you missed Octavia Muss, the former partner of Miller), but you're also catching many details and make lots of good connections.

    • @madux42
      @madux42 Před 2 lety

@@AngusSees Vergiss das "relativ unwichtig". 😉

You have a voice that would make a great Narrator voice lol when you are describing stuff it always sounds like you are doing it so positively. ]:P
