  • Yaki Udon is a Japanese stir fried noodles dish made with sliced vegetables, some meat (optional) and a savoury sauce made of soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar and sesame oil. It's a very quick and easy recipe that can be made within 20 minutes. This is fast, comfort food at its best!

    Try cooking the vegetables from the harder to the softer. First add the carrots and the onion after the garlic of course but don't let it burn and after these add the mushrooms and other things

    One of My favorite foods is Udon. Udon is a white noodle made from wheat flour. It is thick and soft. We can make noise when eating these noodles. Slurping when we eat hot Udon helps prevent us from burning our tongue

    Ohh! This is one of the finest recipes i have ever tried. It is so easy, quick and awsome. I make it once every week and impress my friends.

    It was delicious! I put the umami/Boemboe/sauce on the Udon and i put it in the fridge for 3 hours. The flavor of the sauce was all into the Udon! And I added some home made chili oil because I like spicy but awesome recipe! Thank you!

    I’m from Baltimore. This is a special dish we love to call Yat Gaw Mein ....you can get it at most Chinese carry outs in the city made this way it’s sooo delicious !

    Is this correct? Bec it didnt look like a tsp in the video
    1 tbsp oyster sauce
    1 tsp dark soy sauce NOT regular one
    1 tsp rice vinegar
    1 tsp brown sugar
    ⅓ tsp freshly crushed black pepper
    1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
    pinch salt

      You can use the regular/light soy sauce. It won't impart that deep brown colour to the noodles though.

    Question can I use any vinegar instead of rice vinegar?

      You can add sriracha sauce or red pepper. Whichever you prefer!

      I added a little bit of chili oil. You could also try adding just a tiny amount of chili paste depending on the level of spice you enjoy

    Don‘t put the garlic in first… it‘s the last ingredient. When garlic is long in a hot pan it just burns and the taste is gone

    Are udon noodles available in pakistan? If not, then can we use simple pasta noodles in this recipe?

      Yes you will find udon noodles in the bigger grocery stores of Pak. You can definitely use simple pasta noodles too but the dish will taste different. Udon noodles have a texture of its own.

      Yes you can! Season beef strips with some salt, pepper and soy sauce. Coat with a little bit of cornflour/cornstarch. Leave for 15 mins. And then flash fry on high heat. Remove from the pan. And toss in with the udon noodles at the end.

    You shouldn't be doing stir fry in nonstick. Really destroys the coating and is toxic at high temps.

    This is called stir fry shrimp noodle, not yaki udon
