The twist really does give the film replay value. Like here, when Lucius is questioning the need for a board meeting; you realize that she called for the meeting to allow Bane to kidnap them all.
No one asked chump
@@JF-ix2pc But the fact makes the movie better asshole.
@Rudraksh Tiwari really? *sigh*
The twist completely works. Is it the most earth-shattering Sixth Sense twist in the world? No, but it does in how it serves the story and characters. Their dynamic is also inspired by the villains of the classic novel A Tale of Two Cities which inspired the film. It also adds to Bane's arc and gives him humanity, it doesn't detract from his character at all. Talia works in her own right as well.
Lucius Fox would be a clever enough man to immediately start putting 2 and 2 together though. That's how your brain works when you get defensive. He'd immediately be suspicious as to why he and the board were gathered... for her meeting.
If you noticed throughout the film, every time Bane had to get up from kneeling down, he grunts in pain from his back injury. Clever acting, showing the characters appearance.
What happened to his back?
@@punkrockdavid He lost his spider powers and jumped from a building
@@SteamGrace I understood that reference.
@@SteamGrace “ow, my back”
@@punkrockdavid in the prison fight defending talia "they" injured his back permanently, at the time ras al ghul made the mask to pump his body full of anesthesia
Taking the mask off would be extremely painful is his own words
Bane's eyes betray his emotions, though no one is noticing. His tone of voice is all business but the way he looks at "Miranda" (who he had not seen for some time) tells a different story.
why would he not have seen her? weren't they working together
They were working together, but aside from that I agree.
nice catch!!!
It's why Hardy was chosen for the role.
He can convey SO MUCH emotion just using his eyes.
@@estoylaroca and his swift motion during the battle for Gotham
By going first, Talia showed Bane what Lucius would be doing to turn it on. As soon as he tried to do anything different to what she did, he would be stopped.
@LordKellthe1st Damn that's cool
He also realized after she went that all he had to do was cut off there hands to turn it on. I’m sure she had told them that before.
This is a great observation
Yep if they let Lucius first he would have done something to stop them from taking control of the energy source
I love that the fusion reactor that Bane is stealing here doesn't become a dirty bomb. While it was intended to destroy Gotham City it wouldn't leave behind radioactive waste, which fits with Ra's al Ghul's intentions to restore balance to civilization.
Thank you I thought I was the only one who thought that
But what if Bane had other plans and decided NOT to use the fusion reactor as a dirty bomb, but rather an actual nuke?
What's a dirty bomb? Aren't all bombs dirty in that they destroy things?
@@sha11235 the bomb in the movie is a fusion bomb (how the sun creates energy) which is clean. The nuclear power that we use is fission which is dirty energy. So basically if the bomb the the movie blew up it wouldn't leave radioactive waste in the area for the next 100 years like the ones that were dropped on japan.
@@JohnSmith-sd4mneven in hiroshima, there was only like a few pounds or so of uranium dispersed across the radius of an entire city, meaning it’s still habitable. A place like chernobyl remains uninhabitable due to tons of radioactive material being dispersed.
A “dirty” bomb doesnt even have to be a fission bomb. But really any explosive surrounded by lots of radioactive material that can spread out by the explosion.
LOVE IT how bane says, " pull the core out of the reactor"!!!!!!!!!
As a born islander, it was the strongest I've heard an island accent out of him.
Lukman Younis to me it’s scary. Because not only he kills people. He has a understanding for nuclear science
Man even calculated the time the bomb will explode. If he went to college he must have a bright future, what a waste.
Nguyễn Hải it’s not hard to calculate the half life of something. At most its 8th grade level math
@@kael7953 For all we know, Miranda or someone else could have done the calculations for him.
if you look carefully, you can see the slight smile and excitement on mirandas face behind that scared impression when she sees bane...this is why i love this movie, so much tiny detail!

Laura !, that’s true, on my opinion I couldn’t imagine how „The dark Knight Rises“ had look like if he had not become the role of Bane. His performance of Bane was incredible.
I highly recommend "The Drop"
Tom Hardy has some kind of weird talent at playing masked characters .

Got to love Banes voice.
Bane is strong, strategic, and very intelligent. No wonder he's Gotham's best villain.
Reckoning
0:23 this old dude a real hero
The board member that defended Thomas Wayne's honor was the one that ultimately volunteers to face banes wrath, a man of good will and dignity , reminds me of my dad, a man I will never measure up to
That’s Chris Nolan’s uncle
Someone not shitting on their Dad, well done.
He was a character from Batman Begins, and appeared in a Gotham Tonight video before The Dark Knight was released.
Hunter Smith He was also in Nolan’s first movie the following. He plays the cop interviewing the main character.
@@maciek8159 That as well. It's very cool how Nolan re-uses actors and small characters like that like Tarantino.
Bane
Brutal - smart - lethal & funny.
Such an apex villain.
He has some funny remarks but he isn't that funny.
I feel sorry for Dr.pavel when has pleading with bane about removing the bomb from the reactor... "Wait!! No.. If you move it Will go off!!" Poor guy has no idea what bane is planning to do.
He says it won't go off
2:43 bane is thinking "Damn I squatted too much last night."
Probably because the night before he was fighting and kicking Batman's ass in the sewer room where they passed to get to the bomb.
2:43
Because the prisoner hurt his back very badly in Lazarus Pit
Always love when Miranda looks back at Bane at 2:11. Once we are aware of the story you might wonder how much is in that look.
Man bane is so intelligent in education lol
While I was attending Stanford a while back, I took a few graduate level courses _"Topological Quantum Computation"_ and _"Stochastic and Nonlinear Dynamics"_ ... and it just so happened that my professor was none other than the masked man himself, Bane!!! I had to drop out of one of the courses bc I had a D. But, I sure as hell learned lot!

You obviously are not... Unless English is not your first language of course.
That moment when Bane steals your bomb.

*nuke
Bane's "How good of you to join us! Chair" gives me serious Darth Vader "We would be honored if you'd join us" vibes
Yeah it does.
It would have been noble of Fox to pull a gun and start blasting,
but unfortunately Bane's body guards would have shot Fox into a thousand pieces. 😳
Keep your cringe wars out of here, fkinng NPC loser

Love how bane says for the sake of your children because obviously he's going to kill him that's part of his plan. He never lies!!!!
The plot by Bane to take over Gotham city is so riveting and dramatic building to an incredible final act of the movie
Fox: I won't do it.
Bane: ... you know this is a hand biometric panel, right?
"go on then, do your work"
When bruce said “ one man’s tool is another man’s weapon”
Lol Bane looks like he did a heavy squat session few hours back, by the way he grunts a little before standing up at the end.
It adds character to him, due to various bodily injuries he's had in the past. Even some of his breaths are painful.
2:35 love that nod to Bane having genius level intellect
A city-wide spying device is "too much power for one person" but having a reactor that can be converted into a nuclear bomb in a matter of minutes is okay.
Donutchap any reactor can be turned into a bomb he’s can just be turned into a mobile one
Kep that what I said the only difference is his is mobile
Lucius Fox didn't foresee the threat of Bane, so he trusted that the fusion reactor would be used for good. They were trying to move on after the events of The Dark Knight anyways.
Bane and joker are both amazing
"for the sake of your children, dr pavel, indeed I hope it does"
badass
Bane is perhaps the most charasmatic villian in TDK trilogy
Hope they make an adaptation of it, just like the Joker.
I don't see how he's a great deal different from Ra's al Ghul. He's a hateful person who thinks he's better than everyone else. He wants to destroy Gotham so he can feel better about himself.
Fox seems like the type of person who would activate the fail-safe and just destroy the reactor right there. But whatever, the plot has to happen.
And be responsible for the deaths of all the board members?
He is noble but not heartless.
The death of a few is not heartless when used in the context of a few vs many.
Their deaths wouldnt rest on his conscience, as he would die with them. It probably was the best move at the time tho. Killing a few would have spared the city. He didnt know then that Bruce would be able to stop it all in time.
"Miranda" went first and showed Bane exactly what needed to be done. If Fox had tried something else, he would have been stopped. It would have been nice to see him try, though.
The music during this scene makes for about 60% of the intensity!
'Take them up to the surface. People of their status deserve to experience the next era of western civilization.'
The way he speaks 😘😘
2:34 grandpa Bane!
2:43 always cracks me up when he tries to stand up
He squatted to hard day before
My teacher today said "go on do your work" i immediately thought of Bane
Because a grenade to Bane is like a stress ball to everyone else.
0:17 mista fox love the way he says it 😂
“Go on then do you work”
Best line
So, Wayne Industries just went ahead and built an illegal nuclear reactor that could be turned into a bomb by a single person?
0:07 you can see bane standing on some sort of pedestal since Tom Hardy is short.
I love how the scientist is so panicked about the idea of the destruction the bomb will cause, in a matter of months, and Bane just replies "Five, by my count." Yes, scientists might think about the ethical implications of their work, but they work for evil, ruthless men who have no such concern.
Ironically, Nolan is now making a film about Oppenheimer who spent his life post- atom bomb development, trying to deter further development use of it while government officials did everything in their power to silence and get rid of him for good for not wanting them to continue to build and use more
Everyone is wondering how does he eat, brush his teeth or do his eyes blink, but BANE ponders over HOW TO DESTROY A CITY............. Respect..........
Christian bale as batman
Tom Hardy as Bane
Good vs Evil
It was great...both of them are a professional actor..👌
I miss those days I wish I could go back then in time and relive all these years again having my present conciousness 🤞🔙⏳🤞
The honorable thing to have done would have been for all the board members to sacrifice themselves...
By destroying their own hands?
Maybe it would've been more honorable if Lucius activated the flooding and all of them dying.
i like how bane is just holding a random grenade lol
bane is obviously evil, even in the movie he said "I'm necessary evil" & even all of his plans are practically evil
Yes but I don't think you know what necessarily evil means
Spider Man 2 and this movie. Are there any movies where a fusion reactor doesn’t almost destroy the world?
"Mr Fox would you like to nominate?"
So polite it makes him villainous
So apparently it takes 5 months for the bomb to actually turn into a bomb? That explains the long wait...
no, it'll just automatically detonate in 5 months.
Cliche much!
@@puma59graciefighter It's not that cliche.
Not exactly. Technically, the core became a bomb as soon as Dr. Pavell worked on it. If Bane wanted, he could have detonated the nuclear reactor right then. The protection around the core will take five months to decay which will blow up the reactor.
0:22 Anyone else thinks that George Fredericks should have been a closer ally of Batman?

I love how bane walks
What a genius idea to send literally all of the city’s cops to one location…
Dear Christopher Nolan, can we get a movie about Bane please???? It would be the first time in history that a movie is made about a villain, and it would be awesome! They could even put Raz Al Gul in it.

@@josejimtharayil1511no. Banes mystery keeps him interesting. No movie needed.

How good of you to join us..Mr Wayne..all we need now is one more ordinary member
”Pull the core out of reactor”
He says it so casually while just sitting there
Bane was watching the screen, he'd know if he was trying to do something else, other than turning it on
