Another great review. Michael Neeves is arguably the best road tester of the lot. He's the real deal.
Him and Chris from Bike World. Absolute brute that dude is
He's in a league on his own. Brilliant reviews.
@@MMPAspergerian Michael Gilbert and Chris Ulrich are both top notch. Michael is young and races MotoAmerica and Chris is an ex racer/MotoAmerica team owner. Both are highly qualified to evaluate bikes.
Okay I’ll call when I
He has been for the past two plus decades. Back when print publications existed, the only US mag that held a flame to the UK motojournos was Sport Rider.
The only American motojournalist worth his salt nowadays is Adam Waheed.
It’s easy to watch one of his reviews because he lays it down straight forward and to the point all the while doing it with a pretty chill manner.
Released on Wheelie Wednesday.
The question is how all these thousands of people enjoy MT 10 and still buy them?
The answer is what you miss to understand. Yamaha made a bike that is all round fun to ride reliable monster!
You need to understand that a bike for everyday use must have a softer feel of brake in order to keep the rider relaxed. The European brand don't respect the user and put on off brakes that are heavy for every day use and tiring in the long run.
I will keep buying this bike because Yamaha gives me what I want to have, a usable power not numbers on the paper.
Akra racing exhaust, Woolich racing ECU flash and DNA air filter. A healthy 165bhp ready to blast. 👍👍🇯🇵
Always look forward to a Neevsey review 👌
Great review thanks Neevsey. I like the tidy up of the rear section and reduction of all the little fiddly plastic bits, but I much prefer the look and character of my re-flashed 2018 SP. Such a versatile machine, and never fails to put a grin on my face. Don't think I'll be looking to replace it with the new model any time soon.
Your vocabulary of description of this bike it’s absolutely beautiful 💯
Great review, just got a 23 MT10 SP and can honestly say it the best all around street bike I have owned😎
I have ridden them all, the MT-10 still puts the biggest grin on yer face on the road, daym that engine rocks! forget the figures, just fit decent pads, job done imao
Interesting vid, michael. Ride safe, god bless u.
Im feeling great when MCN finally add subtitle!
What wonderful camera work, love it
YES! more neeves please.
I absolutely adore the sound of that motor
CP4
CP3
CP2
They all sound pretty awesome with an aftermarket system.
I have a street bike and now I'm in love with this one , need to get one
Please mcn, can you add subtitles, I’m a huge fan, but I can’t hear very well cause of a pathological issue I have with my ears 🙏🙏
Keep the great work, love your reviews 🔥🔥
You may wanna watch it again, there are subtitles!
One of the real goat in youtube reviewer performance oriented guy very skillful
Great review. I still think it’s more worth it to get the old model at half price and fix all the issues it comes with stock. It’s a hell of a machine. Honestly my favorite bike.
Great review.
The mt-09 is also remarkable so for the price difference....it's a hard choice!!
The MT10 4 cylinder is much smoother - less vibration than the triple
I also purchased a new 2022 MT10 (in blue) several days ago. I am expecting a delivery in a few days. Can't wait to start riding it.
I like its minimal tech and relatively affordable price point. I’d definitely like to add one to my garage in the near future.
minimal tech lol!
Interesting comments regarding the front end and brakes. I own previous gen and did pads and now i trail brake hard all the time - loads of feel. And for the front end, I love it, loads of feel...
pads make a huge difference ebc sintered
@@ScottyRocket222 yep that's what I have.
@@lachlancrutchfield1916 I did them on a 2021 Mt-09 SP transformed the brakes. I had 1290 super duke an s1000r so initially was disappointed with the Yamaha brakes. just needed better pads transformed the feel,. brakes are good its the pads.
I find the front brakes on 23 MT10 work just fine for the streets
@@jimpanzer07 they work fine, not as good as others but agree totally fine- it's feel that I was lacking on stock pads.
Sir Michael Neeves your choice of words is as excellent as your wheelies! More of those close up action shots please!
Can they just make a XSR1000 yet!? That’s what I want. That style with the CP4 would be to die for.... 👊🏼✊🏼💀
And under 200kg would be nice
You could swap a round headlight on an mt10 and be halfway there.
@@Flatule Where do you get one that fits?
Brilliant review..
Great review from an expert rider.
Nice review. I like this a lot & I can live with the looks despite not loving them. Compariitively good value & if I was in the market for a super naked I'd be choosing between this & the GSXS1000 in terms of bang for your buck. The hyper naked's are fun & all but they're just too much of everything in terms of cost & power imo.
Go Suzuki. Bigger fuel capacity, probably another 10 mpg, better suspension and chassis feel (Suzuki is great at this). Just wish Suzuki hadn't left cruise control for the GT model.
@@exothermal.sprocket where did you hear that the Suzuki had better chassis and suspension? The MT10 outperforms the Suzuki in almost all regards. Better engine, more torque, better sound, more power, more modern R1 chassis, better handling, IMU, cruise control, etc.
Suzuki is cheaper and more practical though.
@@FadilKarim Engine and electronics, sure, if you like the crossplane noise and the thirsty nature of that uneven firing interval. Electronics, sure. If you need them.
Otherwise, prior to the latest updates to the MT-10, it's been traditionally lacking on suspension action and quality, terrible brake performance, and boat loads of nanny restrictions in the stock ECU. Suzuki isn't much different on that last factor either, yet no matter what Suzuki chooses in suspension parts, they make the most of what they use. Yamaha has had glaring problems with suspension systems on the FZ/MT line since 2014. Not entirely corporate Yamaha's fault either, as the suspension is from another manufacturer set up to a specification, and poorly so.
@@exothermal.sprocket The suspension has never been an issue with the MT10. What MCN highlights in this video can be easily remedied with a quick adjustment as the stock settings aren't great from the factory. The MT07 has poor suspension but so does the SV650. They're built to a price point. The MT09 is the only one that has bad suspension up until 2021 so I'll give you that.
And all Japanese bikes have poor brake feel because of their ABS units. A quick pad swap does help a ton to get more bite out of them. And deleting the ABS altogether for track use is even better.
@@FadilKarim Until you've actually sampled good, quality suspension, you couldn't understand. I've had bikes for decades, 10 different Japanese bikes now, from 3 of the brands, ridden well over 60 models from Japan and other brands in demos. Personal experience matches up to what I've seen in publications from professional riders, people who know what they are referring to and articulate it well. If you have a brand bias, that'll just stop you from realizing things.
Would love to see a comparison vid with the BMW S1000R - very comparable power and featurewise.
The S100R has big power - but it is also quite linear in delivery. I wouldn't call it 'boring', but it lacks that 'torque monster' feeling.
Michael Neeves....Respect! The guy we want to be mates with. MCN....Respect! You know who your main stakeholders are........us lot out there.
Would love to see a MCN review on the Diavel 1260s. Please?
Hey guy, I just recently purchased a 21 mt10 in CA, I'm a active duty service member so purchasing another motorcycle from a different state wasn't an option for me. With that being said I went for my first oil change and the mechanic told me that I have a restricted motorcycle and since I bought the motorcycle in Cali, and I am no longer there. I could unlock more CC from my bike (Not by Mods but by possibility rewiring). Idk how much this is true but I would love for some extra option on the matter. Thank you!
beautiful looker , love the black and turquoise !!
I'd take the previous gen over this new one any day.
Why is that? Just curious
@@vwgti303 I just don't like the looks of it compared to the last gen. Missing small fairings, different front piece, air scoops too high, etc..
@@sp33d3r1 I'd agree the last gen looks better (still out there though) but the electronics on this model swing it for me. I'll be heading to my local dealer as soon as I have a few more pennies!
I don't like the new styling of mt09 but it will grow on you and appreciate it
the mt10 can be the best or what ever bike on the planet i cant spend my money on that design
I'm from Canada so I'm just curious when you give the MPG rating are you guys using 3.78 liter gallons or 4.54?
UK gallon is 4.54
It must be said that this bike is wheelie good. 👍😎
What jacket are you wearing in this Nevesy?
When’s the 2022 Tmax video review due?
I'm hoping the new xsr900 delivers
This mt10 has the front lamp design like the face of a bee and sting the opponent painfully, it is really really marvelous. The Streetfighter and Z1000 have the front lamps just like the head of a red ant fears the opponents.
Sounds like an Aprilia V4 with Japanese reliability. Wheelie monster, might be my next bike
Tuono is very reliable.
@@TheTiddy1234 and eats any other naked for breakfast in performance and looks stunning from every angle.Japan (excluding kawasaki) is lucky prejudice exist, that and price is the only reason theyre still around
@@TheTiddy1234 mine wasn’t, but I ride a lot harder and spend a lot more time on the bike wheel than you average guys. No issues with my mt10 though
I just sold my 2020 Tuono Factory 1100 to get 2023 MT10 SP, no regrets and I like the cross plane4 even better than Tuono V4
So my question is with steel braided brake lines and better brake pads. Will the brakes feel less woody?
If its any like like the previous model a new set of good brake pads will be a big improvement for minimal cost.
Someone over at Yamaha design headquarters thought that adding eyebrows on a bike would be a great idea!
Who would have thought Yamaha would base their MT10 on Johnny 5 from the 1986 classic Short Circuit
every time i want a review on a bike i look for michael neeves thoughts first
what about taller gearing.....maybe 1 tooth up front on the countershaft?.....should mellow it out, give bigger spread in each gear and calm the hit down a lil bit and more top speed (not that it needs more MPH, lol)
My MT-10 has a decat...now thats loud. Speaking of loud i also have a 1997 Suzuki TL1000S with carbon scorpion cans, im about 6 months off a hearing aid.
your narration put me in a very relaxing mindset.
Awesome bike
It’s a good year for Yamaha.
Anybody have any thoughts between the MT10sp and the Ducati Monster 1200S? I'm on the fence between these. Help! ;
Would you rather get a MT-10SP or a base model 2021/22 Tuono?
Tuono. Much more style imo. MT10 is a tacky designed freak compared to the Italians
@@bhok1971 Yeah, but the MT-10 is a more comfortable street bike. It's a touch choice.
@@bhok1971 Shiite
MT10 is still the best naked for 2up riding which is one of the main reasons I will buy one. It's a blast riding alone or 2up with a lovely damsel. Can't say the same for a lot of its rivals.
@@peterfallows6802 Hi Peter, how's things? Not heard from you in a while, all the best...Michael
@@peterfallows6802 A little 5ft 110lb pillion is perfect.

It must be amazing to ride, but it looks absolutely terrible
Whith a taller windscreen it looks A BIT better
It is amazing to ride, thankfully don't see the face when riding....No No No to a taller windscreen thanks!
@@chr11sf no, I'm serious, Google 2022 mt10 windscreen, makes it look a bit like an r1, and not a bug with eyebrows

1:42 jesus, Neevesy can ride
BMW S1000R -VS- Yamaha MT10.? Which would you pick?
Maybe not the “cheapest “.. I’d say the least expensive 👌
"... booms like Barry White!"
Best line in a motorcycle review this year 👍
He said the same thing about the MT09
@@dannygernaat9961 I will go look for it. 😁
@@shaneelson czcams.com/video/MmSsv24uFKI/video.html
I still miss my 08' Raven R1 and just sold my 12' RC8. Unfortunately, I'll be going with the 1290 SuperDuke R. ;)
The mt10 is a better bike by far than the 1290..
What are the benefits of steel over titanium connecting rods?
probably done to save $$.
The gen.1 is altso a 190-55 rear tyre
It did not seem to be that stable through some of those corners, and the rider looked a bit hesitant
Decent wheelie though
Test the SP next.
Anyone compared this to the gsxs1000?
It's been about 17 years since Yamaha made beautiful sports motorcycles. I estimate it has to do with management and a younger design studio team, WHO HAVE NO IDEA WHAT ETERNAL BEAUTY LOOKS LIKE.
I have Mt09 2018. I would realy like to buy MT10. But i want less than 200kg WET, and with enough range for 250km. More HP would be nice, and i dont like the look. Maybe next gen..
🤙
M C N number one for know
👍👍👍
Wish i didn’t have to turn off tcs every time i hop on and i wish i can turn off abs but i guess theres a reason for that because this is an amazingly powerful bike ;)
From my own research, a cross-plane engine just isn’t fuel efficient. Awesome but thirsty.
This bike is seriously faster than my Honda Benly....
A bit slower than your ZZR though, how's the Valkyrie doing? My ZZR's had its first service so I'm begging to unleash the beast. Hope your getting out this good weather.
Awesome review. But click bait title- MT was never the maddest Super Naked to begin with. Half the vid backs this up as being apologist to the Actual Maddest Euro Nakeds.
Why do these reviews never have a pov shot
Considering buying one should I I'm sick of Harleys but I don't want a rocket.
👍🍻
Somehow they managed to make this one look even worse than the previous one.
Someone should make a naked bike instead of the manufacturers competing to see how weird they can make flat-bar bikes look.
Why the Miami Vise colors from 1989? Looks bad.
How is £10,302 exactly cheap?
I think old one look more beautiful and aggressive
so going from titanium to steel connecting rods doesn't sound like much of an upgrade
I miss the sharp angular looks of the old one…
Great review but I honestly believe the super Duke 1290 GT is the meanest super naked
I wish the steering stabilizer was not visible but it is what it is 🥲
The zh2 is 200hp...
you'd think with Rossi riding their Yamaha bikes, that they'd be able to get some of his input on design of the headlights area.. ugliest of the lot, not even close to any of the european rivals.. a waste really
Great bike, but i hope they fixed this blow up engine.
Great review. But no. This thing is not on par with the speedy or SD 1290 or the tuono, much less the duc streetfighter, zh2, etc
The price also not on par.
Especially the streetfighter is 50% more expensive.
@@nikos-giorgos true but you also get more. The flagship of the MT line is the 09
@@jace2wheel762
If you mean price wise yes, you're right.
@@nikos-giorgos lol price aside, its got less power less torque cant carve as well and its overall range sucks. So while yeah price matters? You get what you pay for
@@jace2wheel762
You must understand that what you're saying now, contradicts your original comment...
Well there is no doubt in my mind that if Yamaha wanted to do a true SUPER Naked it would not be the MT-10. It would be the MT-12 or MT-13 or Mt-14. Most of the best SUPER Nakeds are higher CC than 1000.
Not what I want to hear after buying a 21 last year.
Dual headlights but only one lights up, that's rubbish.
Prefer the front of my 2018, really hate that front. And only 6 more hp which is just due to stock tuning, my ECU is flashed so I'm making like 15-20hp over that anyway.
Who is worried about fuel consumption on a bike? Really
I thought the rods were always steel? It’s more R1s than a r1. They should have made it a 1100. 😈
Thanks for the good info. I still don't get why fuel economy is even in the discussion with this bike. Buy a Honda Rebel if that's what you care about.
Nah its lackluster compaired to the competition
No, I think not.
I rode this bike and i gotta say it is not really a daily rider bike 😂 it’s a comfy track bike. Aggressive fueling is an understatement. It is absolutely an R1 with straight bars. Coming from an average rider who used to daily a 1000
SH*T-CAN THE HIDEOUS NOSE and I'll BUY one.
"Switch off the electronics" come on m8! If they do that would mean that gen xy & millenials would have to multi task - think and learn to ride at the same time😂🤣 it's a great bike, wish I had gone that way and not Ducati!
