The 2017-2020 is a drop dead gorgeous bike. I wish they would have kept the headlight.
I must admit, I have been watching MT-09 reviews for the last 2 months but the in-depth commentary done here is top notch. Now I just can’t wait to ride it!
It's super fun! Testrode the SP version and was sold, now I own said bike.
Dude, I've been doing the same thing now for a week now.
I feel ya on that one man i go on my opens in a month thats when i get mine but im not gettin the sp just the 22mt09
Neevsy knows 👌🏼
Mt09 or mt10 ? Whats the best
Neeves sorts out the wish list in his usual brilliant and clear way!! MT09 SP it is
Picking up my SP in a few days, never laughed so much during a testride before. Absolutely bonkers.
update: it's still bonkers.
@@gtewewrrrrrr what have you ridden before?
You think this is more fun then a gsxs 1000 for example?
@@noahprestel5324 My previous bike was an K3 SV650. I've testridden a lot of different bikes, like ktm 790 duke, gsxr1000, MV agusta rivale to mention a few. It's been a few years since I rode a gsxs1000 - but to try and compare it I would say it's not as flickable or maybe enjoyable on tight narrow twisties. It did have a lot of power but not the same feel as the MT with its triple engine and low down grunt. The seating position is also more upright and more comfortable - if I remember correctly. What I do think is that the gsxs1000 is more of a stable bike at higher speeds, and will probably pull away from the MT but I haven't looked up any numbers. Testride and find out what makes you smile the most! The MT is offering hooligan giggles but at the same time can be very sensible. If Michael reads the comments maybe he can give you some better answers :)
@@gtewewrrrrrr , enjoy it. My recently purchased MT-10 is bonkers too, makes my VFR800 seem like a cruiser in the performance department.
Just got my regular mt 09 in the US last week. The SP isn't out yet here, and I personally admit I wouldn't get it here as it makes it more than the gsxs 1000 here. I had tried to get a hold over gsxs 1000 but the dealers weren't rest working with me or getting back to me and I actually preferred the mt 09 but thought if I could get a deal on the gsxs I was gonna go for it. They both seem like great bikes but considering where I ride the mt makes more sense (just back roads that are slower roads)
Really rate Neeves's reviews, always have done. He kind of sets the gold standard on this stuff....if I want an unbiased opinion, these are the ones I watch....keep em coming!
The first review that touches on the old bike's main problem, the funny handling. Thank you for the quality reviews, Mr. Neeves! I sometimes think you should have your own YT channel!
I have the first gen mt09 and I'm happy to hear they fixed what mine is missing, confidence in the corners.
As usual, your reviews are spot on, exactly what one needs to know, keep them coming. Thank you!
Glad I ordered mine last week. I test rode the standard and was hooked. Great review and confirmed what I found.
One of the absolute best reviewers out there. No bs. Great job!
Had the pleasure of owning a first gen MT 09 for about 14k kms and I have to say that at decent speeds and around town the bike was really fun and comfortable to ride, I even did 600km in a day and didn't feel too sore. But at a higher pace the stock suspension really fell apart which is a pity since that CP3 engine is a real gem. Really happy to hear they've finally fixed it.
Neevsey always coming in with the best reviews and telepathically answering all the questions I was asking in my head
i did order mine 2 months ago, now 2 weeks with the 2021 mt09 sp. i just love it so much. previous bike was a z750. the mt09sp is a whole new world for me!! just love it
Thank you Micheal for this brilliant rundown, all the info I could want on the MT 09 sp.👍
I love how Neevsey uses the term 'playful' when other reviewers call it a yobbish hooligan! ;)
Well it's Wednesday and I wheelie enjoyed watching that.
I saw what you did there...lol
Been watching reviews of bikes’s for a year now. No one comes close to MCN and Neeves. I bow
No ones doing better reviews than this guy. Give him a big fat juicy raise immediately!!! Simply the best in the industry, thanks for sharing. Cheers.
This is one of the best reviews I've seen, still unsure if im getting the sp or standard version. So excited for this bike to be available at my local dealers!!!!
His reviews are just getting better and better. Superb!
Thanks for the great video, very informative. I really appreciate your no nonsense style.
WOW! Great informative, knowledgeable, educational review. The kind of info/advice I need to buy a bike.
nice and to the point, appreciated the small comparison with a few of its rivals as well
I’ve been looking at both the MT10 and MT09 SP. In the US, the MT10 costs about $2,000 more than the MT09 SP. The specs and performance are interesting between the two bikes. The MT10 has 158.2 hp and 82 ft-lb of torques compared to the SP with 117 hp and 68.6 ft-lb of torque. The MT10 weighs 463lbs. compared to the SP at 419lbs. The MT10 gets 30 mpg and the SP gets 49 mpg. The MT10 is slightly slower 0-60 but slightly faster 0-100 according to most sites that report the stats. The MT10 has a top speed of 155 mph and the SP has a top speed of 147.9 mph. I really wanted the MT10, but it seems with the new modifications made to the MT09 SP it may be a more practical bike and almost as capable. The extra savings on the SP relative to the MT10 can go toward some of mods to customize the bike. I’m not getting very interested in the MT09 SP, whereas before I never really considered it as an option.
I think the mpg wins me over on the MT-09 SP
Love your concise reviews with comparisons to rival bikes in the class Michael. Shame the Tracer 9 reviews I’ve watched haven’t received such glowing reviews. Would love to hear your thoughts on the Tracer 9 GT, as you are someone who’s opinion I value and trust.
Incredibly competent, articulate, expert review! Well done!
One of the best reviews I have seen on CZcams.
I have to say you did a fantastic review mate💯
Great review, friend! My fav motorcycle channel.
A great review as always! Thank you. It’s only taken Yamaha 7+ years to finally make it handle properly. Nice one. 👍😎🇦🇺
Excellent presenter. I've been following since he reviewed the 2021 MT-07 : )
Great review, this is the info I was after, how it handles.
I've got a Brutale 800 that I bought new in 2016, because I love the handling so much.
It's getting a bit long in the tooth now, so I have to start thinking about what I want next.
I test rode one of the original MT09's before I bought the Brutale.
The agricultural handling of the MT was the big "No Thanks" for me.
If this new SP version is everything you say, then I'd better take one for a ride.
I always come back to watch this video. Suffice it to say…this is my dream bike lol. Can’t imagine anything else with more value. Enough power, reliability, looks, not super expensive. I think I’d just put a touring screen and I’d be good 👍 thanks for the review Mr. Neeves
Fantastic review as usual Neevsy ! Made me buy the bike 2021 MT-09 SP
Love to see sp vs standard.love the channel !
Finally the long waited words of the Neeves, Ordered one already!
How long will it take to get it? I’m in the U.S., and I’m hearing a few months. Same for you?
5 months
When Neeves says it's a 5/5 star motorcycle that really says it all! Can't wait for mine to arrive at the end of May!
How do you like yours, I got mine on June 2nd. I like it, but it definitely is different from the bikes I was used to.
@@ndperson1 can't say yet mate - Dealer said it got pushed to end of July now, cause of the factory in Japan. Glad you are enjoying yours!
@@lasserasmussen5522 in the first five days I got it broke in pretty good. Was on vacation by coincidence so put 1350 miles on it. It handles well in my opinion but it is deceptively fast compared to my other bike (that is I will think I am going just 45 mph when I am going 65, but I am getting used to that part now)
@@ndperson1 nice - looking so much forward to it
I really want to ride this new SP, great review as always 👍
If Neeves a rider we aspire to be like says they fixed it and he says its now a proper sports bike then it is ! Time for me to start saving for the SP MT 09 as it is Finally available in the US ! Thanks for a honest and proper review Neeves!✌👍
Great review thank you Michael, I am trying to decide between the SP M7-09 and Street Tripple RS ( more sensible option ) a tough call !
Neeves is the only man I listen to when buying a new bike. Always on point.
Great, comprehensive review. MT09 SP vs Street Triple RS really.
If you’re going to ride track(or track-like pace if you have the luxury of secluded and properly cambered mountain roads) and want the most communicative chassis, front end feel, immense brakes, and linear power with a top end rush for cutting effortless laps, then go STRS. If you want a performance bike that hucks mondo wheelies and begs to be thrashed at all times, turning you into a jackass on the road, then buy this or the Duke 890.
Thank you. Good review. Any reason you didn’t mention the new monster as a rival and I don’t think you mentioned the weight? A big factor for me. The Duc weighs in at an incredible 166kg dry
Big fan of Neeves the go to man if you wanna know , I bought the original Ducati street fighter s after watching his review which i still have twelve years later best bike I've ever owned
This guy Neevsey is just a pleasure to listen to
Great review 👍🏻
Neevesy is the best in the business .. love his reviews
fantastic review 👍🏻
Worth the wait for this review. 👌👍👍
Very nice review. Nice bike as well
100% agree about the front end issue in the old model. Thats exactly what it felt like...
Good introduction , nice video.
Neevsey is the best motorcycle reviewer in business. Perfectly analysed
What a great bike review !!
0:45 looked eerily familiar, 1:22 sold it. Inland roads above Omiš, Croatia.
Excellent routes for bikes, and location for filming :)
Great review as always. I had a 2014 FZ9 and ditched it after one season. The bike couldn't hold a constant speed and when leaned over and the throttle catches it was so scary for a non-expert rider like myself. The seat was also slanted forward so it kept sliding me into the tank while pulling my pants up my crotch. Hopefully that's been resolved as well. The new MT-09 SP is in my short list. Thanks again.
I’m so in love with my 2019 MT-09 but these videos make me second guess my decision of waiting for the 2022 MT-09 when Yamaha will hopefully polish the aesthetics (headlight and tail)....
Excellent - appreciated the detail of the prev MT09 flaws. More than just being a bit bouncy..
Back in 2012/early 2013, as well as the expensive R1 and worthy fjr, Yamaha had a load of 600 to 1 litre 4 cyls that barely stood out from each other and made Bandits look fun. TG for the MT09 and mt07.
Coming from the 2018 MT-09, wich was already a huge step up from the 2014 model, this version is really impressive. My dream bike is a R1 from 2016 ish and on but for the road this MT is just perfect! Hell, even the price is great. 2nd hand R1’s go for over 14k € with 25k miles + so yeah…
im sold .. thanks neevesy !!
Brilliant, honest review as always from Michael Neeves. Lovely looking bike, especially in SP trim.
Yes, he’s a professional isn’t he.
You mean, really really good!
"Barry White singing in the shower" LOL! Good one!
Neevsey great job I have a deposit on an R7 but I am now considering the MT 09 after reading your excellent in depth review. I own a GSXR 750 but I am concerned the R7 will feel under powered.
I can't wait for an XSR version.
Getting the 2024 SP version next year and I am excited ☺️
i bought a 2017 fz07 this year, i hope i will be able to find and buy a 2021 mt09sp next year!
Wow the clips you showed are from crostia, siiickk
When he didn't mentioned the Kawasaki Z900 at the end a tear drop down on my cheek
I've had both the Z and the MT. Currently the 2nd gen MT. I actually preferred the Z before, but now with the rash of improvements and the electronically festooned SP model, Yamaha it is.
I don't get why z900 is so popular.
@ Have you ridden the 2020 version ? Its the smoothest package you can ride by any comparison with one of the best engines in the group.
@@mathiashammar1 no, i only have ridden the previous version. It might be almost too smooth. Of course it has strong motor since it is 950cc four cylinder and it is compared to smaller and lesser cylinder machines.
After trying both the new MT-09 SP and a Z900, about a month ago, I actually ended up going Team Green.
I like that the Kawasaki has a more mellow nature with more neutral handling characteristics and a smooth engine with a more linear (and less manic) powerband.
Both of them are lovely bikes and have more than enough performance for road riding that’s for sure.
You can’t go wrong with either one in my mind.
I agree 100% about the lowering of the headstock, it felt Motard before, now more like a sport bike.
Love this guy
So if we look back at your reviews of the previous MT-09 over the years, how did you describe it then?
Mine will be here in june!!
Looking forward to a new xsr with some improvements to the styling.the first model has always looked cobled up compared to the z900rs
Nice vid
What about new ducati monster? Won't it be competitor for mt 09 and Duke 890 with its new 932 engine and reduced weight?
His description of the old bike handling is spot on.
Was excited for the modes until I got my regular mt 09. Never had a bike with modes and just felt the other modes just felt delayed. Put it in mode 1 and just left it there along with putting the other electronics to the minimum while still on basically
I find I need to test both MT09 SP and TST 765 RS in order to decide which one I'm buying. They seem quite different and quite good but can't manage to decide between one or another
Do these flaws and improvements thereof, apply for tracer 900 also.?
Greetings form Split and Makarska area , I recognized my riding area :)
Thanks.
Got a 2020 Z900. Contemplating one of these. Is it worth it?
Gr8 review
Anybody know if there are proper luggage accessories available for this in North America? Thanks
Can't wait to hear about new Tracer 9
Lol the thing is a wheelie machine right out of the box and little insider tip? R1 forks springs drop right in! And work well!
Is the front wheel optional?
I'm getting my forks redone, and rebuilt with upgraded parts on my 2021 MT-07. I cant to feel how it handles after its all said and done.
What about the standard model... non SP?
So what if I just drop my old MT09 front end 30 mils? Same effect?
Have a question for the bike NERDS MT-09 SP 2023 bike pricing its done 3k miles private sale £8400 ( Is that a good deal?)
Neevees is the best man in the industrie!
Question, Wheeling kneeling on the seat, how do they get the front down after overcooking it?
My guess, some trick rear brake button easily accessible to the thumb.
The real stunt guys have that, the bike in the vid (my guess not) just be carefull with the throttle.
Do you guys think they will bump the Street Triple RS displacement to compete with the likes of MT09, 890 DUKE, Z900 and the new DUCATI MONSTER??? I mean they did it to the Speed Triple, they need to do it to the Striple
Hi - Is there a Rear Rack + Pannier Kit available if I want to use this for work & getaways where I want to pack my camping gear...Well Done Yamaha designers & manufacturers after 7 years of "development" they have come up with a great package straight from the showroom...🔥👏🔥
Yea there is
what about the mt9 non-sp version? In my country it worth 2000 dollars cheaper than sp.
Im waiting for my YZF-R9... I know it will come...
10 to 17 seconds of this video is all I needed to go buy me one of these….. always wanted one and I got it now. I just wanted to see a proper wheelie and listen to the engine to know I want it or not
Last year I thought I wanted an mT09 so I went to a dealer and test road it. and to me the bikes front end never felt planted or stable. when I test road the Triumph Tripple RS I really liked it. but its to pricey where I live, anyway its nice to know that they made mt09 better. but where I live there is no SP model.
Wait he did not mention the kawasaki Z900, I guess it needs updating too???
This is 'merica... what's a shasi...😉
Great review... Yamaha doing solid work keeping people into 2 wheels!
