    Zack. you are one half of my favorite duo of moto jurno's. The reason that motorcycles have shorter mirrors that look at your elbows, As far as I have deduced as a commuter that rides a lot at night, is so you don't get the lights of following traffics lights in your eyes all the time. I personally love this feature and struggle on bikes that direct the light at you, especially as the new cars have crazy bright lights. Love to here your feedback. Keep up the great reviews.

Make motorcycle lane-filtering legal everywhere in the USA, please! People on motorcycles are getting rear-ended and crushed to death by massive vehicles! Took MT-10 for demo ride last year only because it was the only one available at the moment. I really didn't care about it but, wow, what great bike it was. @@TK-cl1jm Well, MT-10 is naked while Ninja sx is sport touring. As such, I definitely prefer ninja in sx trim. It has more features and looks more finished and cool. Both engines feel fantastc. I know it is utterly stupid but, I really liked that lean angle displayed on ninja. :-)
      The only thing that maybe I liked better on MT was that it maybe had little more leg room and little more natural bend. I wouldn't put money on it though as it has been while since I rode them.

      @@oknevals Hey, thanks for the thought-iut and quick reply!
      Yes, definitely different class bikes, but this Ninja has been SO surprisingly QUICK and NIMBLE that I wondered how it faired(haha) against a hyper naked. At least in the day-to-day fun to ride aspect. Motostatz has stats they have collected on a lot of bikes, ridden by same guy. Looks like they botched their "Leaderboard" and the 1000SX should be showing as fastest 0-60 mph time, at 2.50 seconds. They instead appear to have mistakenly used the 0-70 mph figure of 2.99 seconds. I'm amazed by this bike, off to hit 17 in Vermont this minute!

    I live in Victoria Australia, there are litterly unmarked mobile speed camera vechiles randomly set up everywhere in Melbourne, and unlike other states in Australia, they don't need to give any warning or signage and yes you will get a fine in the mail for just a few km over the speed limit. So features like a speed limiter for daily commuting in urban areas is definitely a good feature.

    I'm 100% the demo for the rider nannies. I'm not a massive fan of the dash (I have a 2018 GSXR1000, and I'm happy with that basic dash), but I like the rider aides. Essentially, I don't trust myself with that much power, but still enjoy experiencing it, so the extra peace of mind is crucial for me.
    I'm sorry that people like me are making these bikes less "pure", but I'm not sorry enough to stop demanding it.
    FWIW, I also have a 2019 MT09 and I would agree that the new MT09 electronics are perhaps an unnecessary extra expense in that case. But, the MT10 is a different animal, and I specifically didn't buy the last model because of the rudimentary electronics.

    I've a 2018 I bought new and my fuel usage is so different from yours/this new model that it seems just crazy. I get in the 25's to 28's mpg in mixed riding situations. I spend so much time at a gas station compared to anything I've had in the past and, I've had many, many bikes. However, this is possibly my favorite to date having come off a 2017 Super Duke. I find the bike so comfortable with the addition of a sport windscreen and a Corbin saddle which gives both me and my grandsons additional leg room. I find the twitchy throttle much more progressive and predictable in lower gears compared to the Duke. I noticed they went for a jar instead of the lower profile metal front brake reservoir on this model (don't like) and got rid of some of the plastic embellishments giving the bike a cleaner appearance. I love my large black and white instrument screen and still have the stock mirrors for which I must pull in my elbows for a clear rear view. I found your last segment at the board just a hoot. It was as if a stand-up comic was holding back and presenting a well thought out summary . . . it was definitely so much fun to watch.

I’ve driven in Europe quite a bit and often you’ll find stretches of twisty residential roads with speed cameras along them- very unforgiving speed cameras. This feature would help if you know what’s coming and want to avoid getting a ticket in the mail, because without it it might be hard to keep the speed legal consistently

The Mt10 is not a tourer but goodness SUCH a fun bike to ride! I got 200 km between fuel stops not even on reserve and she has so much grunt from low revs......

    I owned a 2018 for 5 years....and I think this new one seems slightly more tamed. I rode mine from Los Angeles to Salinas and then back down through Big Sur, took it to the racetrack a ton of times, commuted almost daily for 80 miles a day and rode to coffee with my wife and 2 ups out of town from LA to Joshua Tree....seriously one hell of a great bike! It does a lot of stuff quite well...aaaand it will wheelie all day long, anywhere! IMHO not for beginners.

    Variable speed limiter...I'm from the UK and my car has it. I don't use it much as it seems a bit like an answer to yesterday's problem. I can't speak for wider Europe, but in the UK there are a lot of GATSO speed cameras: which use radar to detect a vehicle, then take 2 photos a set distance apart and record the speed - leading to a penalty if its over the posted limit. A while back, you'd see strings of these along prolonged stretches of motorway (highway) with construction, where the limit had dropped from 70 to 50 or 40. The feature works well there as it stops you day-dreaming or picking up speed down a gentle slope without realizing it and passing a GATSO.
    Now, these GATSO stings have been replaced by ANPR (auto number plate recognition) which picks us each vehicle along a route and works out the speed between those distant points. This means a slight creep-over can be corrected with a period of sitting under the limit, and there is no specific need to fear creeping over the limit on a set piece of road just because that is where the camera is. General cruise control works just fine here. I guess if you have a local road where traffic will mean non-radar cruise is a pain, this feature could stop you accidentally passing the camera over the limit....but seems a bit of a trade off for losing the ability to scoot past (for example a cyclist in a 30 or 40 zone) without having to deactivate something first

    Thanks for the Daily Ride Zack! As a big fan of low down torque I'm disappointed to hear that the grunt is a bit soft at the low revs. Hopefully we'll hear about a flash that can fix things. How is the steering angle (i.e. lock-to-lock)? After owning a 2nd gen S1000R I don't think I can own another bike with a shallow steering angle... hitting the lock-stops when man-handing the bike at home gets too frustrating!

    • @lacrossev
      @lacrossev Před rokem +1

      My guess is this is a Euro5 thing. I own a 2017 with a flash and it did improve the lower end response. It also got rid of some of the jankiness at low speed but i think the flash does this by keeping the throttle ever so slightly open even when its off at slow speeds.
      To the point about the mirrors, I have bar end mirrors but found if I had them hanging down they would hit the huge flares coming out of the sides of the tank at full lock. Flipped to be on the top though and they're fine. This is on the 2017 but it doesn't look like they did much to the tank shape so it might still be the same situation.

    I live in the UK. I wish all bikes had a speed limiter feature like this. It’s great.
    Most motorways (highways) around here are 70mph but they’re introducing all sorts of ways to catch you out including:
    * speed cameras every few miles
    * speed cameras during roadworks
    * average speed cameras during roadworks (usually 50mph and if you exceed that over, say, 10 miles, you get a ticket).
    Cruise control is great but our roads are too busy - ultimately you need adaptive cruise control otherwise you’ll be constantly turning it on/off/on/off as you ride.
    The speed limiter, therefore, is perfect, as it means I can set it to the legal limit of 70mph, ride normally with the throttle in traffic, and not going over the limit and worry about trigging a camera.
    That said, while I am generally in favour of speed cameras on smaller roads, I think it’s absolutely dangerous to put them on motorways as people keep speeding anyway but now just brake heavily for the cameras, and if there’s an accident and they drop the speed limit down to 40mph it means potentially I have to brake hard in heavy traffic to avoid getting a ticket. It’s dangerous, it’s stupid, and I feel extremely vulnerable in the car when I have to do that and it’s 100x worse on a bike.

    The imu is worth it imo. I have the MT-09 and it’s possible the slide control saved my butt a couple times. It might have been me. I’ve been riding for a while and have some experience with a bike getting sideways. But that’s on cruisers with bias ply tires. So cold sport tires were new to me when I bought it along with wheelies. I’m not good at them but the lift control gave me a safety wall to learn how to be confident doing them. The traction control does interfere with them sometimes if you’re doing clutch ups. But it’s also not 100% fool proof. Every now and then you will get past it’s safety limit. So definitely don’t rely on it to save your butt all the time. I’ve heard of one person looping it on a power wheelie. Overall it’s still nice they’re there if you need them. Not everyone is as skilled as Zack Courts lol

    • @derp195
      @derp195 Před rokem +1

      Agreed. As far as I’m concerned, safety features that only activate when you’ve already gone too far have no downside unless you’re stupid enough to pretend they make you invincible.
