    Rare Ferrari alert!
This week on TheCarGuys we’ve got the Superamerica - a limited edition variant of the 575M. You know - the one with the weird rotating glass roof.
CarGuys viewer, Tony has lent us this fabulous 1,800 mile example in Rosso Corsa, and that means a detailed episode of #DriveEveryFerrari, in which we cover all its special features, its history, quirks and of course what it’s like to drive, and to drive fast in such an expensive car.
The Ferrari Superamerica is one that we’ve been wanted to drive since we started the channel, so with the sun shining, this is going to be a great day, and we hope you enjoy the episode.
Drive Every Ferrari is a series within the main TheCarGuys.tv channel, which aims to get behind the wheel of every Ferrari road car from the company’s origins right up to present day. It’s going to be extremely tough to get them all, but with your help, we’ll get there.
If you have a Ferrari that hasn’t been covered yet, please get in touch and see if your car can be the star of a future episode. Email: Damian@thecarguys.tv

It always amazes me that people complain about the gearbox on the 575M cars. I have no problem with mine. If you drive it in manual mode the changes are fast..certainly not double clutch fast, but fast enough when pressing on hard. I rarely need to lift off for the change either. I've changed the paddles due a set of extended carbon fibre ones, and these transformed the drive experience. They can be used in any position and are finger tip action. I'm not a gab of the Superamerica. I just don't like the rear half of the car... and that roof. Heaven forbid you have a problem. Getting ordinary parts for a 575 can be an issue, but as Damien says the roof is unobtanium. The engine note is not raucous due to the over muffled exhaust. That can be fixed, but who wants a loud car all the time. Another great Drive Every Ferrari episode.

great video, of my favourite Ferrari, the look absolutely gorgeous, and your review is pretty much my opinion of the car also, but the F1 gearbox in sport mode is pretty quick, obviously not as quick as the double clutch ones, oh and on the subject of the roof, you dont need to replace all of the roof, as they can now replace it as individual parts. my car has the same interior but with a rosso scuderia exterior, believed to be one of only 2 in that colour, i think it looks so much more stylish than the 812GTS, I love it!

Another great and informative video and what a rare beauty. Amazing roof design well ahead of it's time and the F1 box takes some driving but remember it's a standard gearbox with an actuator that changes the gears it's not strictly an auto box that's why it takes some gettimg used to. I'm glad I have mine but we all know a manual in a Ferrari cannot be bettered. Well done again Damian, superb video. Look forward to more.

What a stunning machine! The 575 Superamerica has always been one of my favourite Ferraris. Absolutely love the look and it's also got plenty of power considering it was made 20 years ago. It's kind of sad that Ferrari makes so many great cars that some of them become inadvertently underrated over time, as is the case with the Superamerica. It's undoubtedly a fantastic GT car in its own right.

Well done Damian.Good presenting, you seem to have an engaging personality.Your easy to listen to.Some presenters begin to annoy me,because they spend so much time faffing about, and fiddling about with controls, and luggage compartments, that you begin to despair as to whether or not they are going to finally get around to testing the rare exotic. This is what they were actually designed for, high performance,And what do you get.A measly five seconds gazing at a side panel,or the bonnet, while the engine begins to Rev, and roar a little. After fiddling, and faffing about for the greater part of the video, and pontificating inordinately. It can be quite disappointing to finally get your five seconds, or three seconds of bonnet viewing when they finally ‘give it the beans.’No sweeping into bends,no accelerating out of corners,no surging on from idling speeds.,no pressing on to high speeds, and maintaining them effortlessly. And all from the exterior of the car. No,and they expect you to be content .Well Damian you seemed to pull it off,you remained interesting, informative, and even entertaining throughout the whole video, congratulations.Quite a feat.A lot,lot more of ‘the beans’ would be nice though.

The problem with these gearboxes is not that they are bad. It's just modern gearboxes have come so far to a degree that they feel you're playing a Playstation rather than driving a car. So it's difficult to shift your mindset back to a time where this was cutting edge tech. On a different note I just bought an FF which hopefully I'm taking delivery of in early August as long as Joe Macari's inspection doesn't find any horrors. If you've not got one of these lined up for a drive give me a shout and you can film mine.

Well, Damian, I entirely agree with you. This Superamerica is a work of art on wheels. It should have a manual gearbox (a definite glorious reminder of Ferrari’s past), and both engine and exhaust sound should be louder, more present.
What has drastically changed the musical quality of contemporary V12 Ferraris is that the Weber carburetors have disappeared ! They contributed greatly to the acoustic magic of those V12s back in the sixties and seventies. Still, this Superamerica is a beauty. 🙏

    Sorry.

Is that the engine sound of a Ferrari 458 in the opening?

Good video bar the cringe bit we get every episode with the use beans
I love the 550/575 but not the SA looks wise. The roof design is genius just not a car I’d lust after owning

My 458 has a 'sport exhaust' and it just means black tips. So maybe this one just looks different rather than sound different.

What a same it's not used more, so that more people can get to see it. With such minimal milage I doubt the new owner will take it out either.

£305k is daylight robbery. They won’t keep going up. Subpar Ferrari experience with a cool
roof that you won’t use much. 812 GTS everyday of the week and twice on a Sunday.
