Took the Spanish CLEP exam and boy was it difficult! I am strongly fluent in Spanish , speak it, write it, read it all day, however that listening portion was a nightmare. As a Spanish speaker I personally would say it probably is not going to be an easy exam for someone learning Spanish. Yes, I got nearly a perfect score, but it really did make me question for a second what was happening! 😊

I found the test easy. However, the story portions of the test are long; therefore, I was recommended to take notes during the exam. I am glad I did. It does not matter if Spanish is your first language. If you do not take notes during the stories, you will struggle. Once you go to the answer portion, you cannot go back to refresh your memory.

I did take AP Calc in HS, but I did not even pass the exam to get college credit. Review your degree plan to make sure you are taking the required classes and not spending money unnecessarily. This video is very misleading about the Spanish CLEP.
Spanish CLEP's pass rate is _HEAVILY_ skewed by the fact that so many people who take it speak Spanish as their first language. If you have a couple years of crappy Spanish instruction in high school, and that's it, it's not particularly easy -- especially if you're trying to get a 63 and test out of 2 years worth. Getting a 63 for non-native speakers without considerable exposure to Spanish is _NOT EASY._
Now, why it is that native Spanish speakers are allowed to get **foreign** language credit for taking a Spanish test, I can not say. Native English speakers sure can't take an English test for foreign language credit.

@@CollegeHacked - I will say that passing it (for 1 or 2 years credit) isn't as hard as it seems _during_ the test. _while_ taking it -- a lot of non-native Spanish speakers will be a bit shocked that you're quickly hit with subjunctive mood grammar and other sorts of relatively advanced constructions. It's apparently pretty common for people to feel like they absolutely bombed the test, only to find at the end that they got a 50+ score -- and the reason why is that they do some sort of curving on the raw score.
