@@MrTech2three Honestly, I've gone full blown into console ever since this Series S. Don't get me wrong I love PC, but between being a new dad, with full time work, and CZcams hobby, it's just easier for me to dive into my gaming console with a more "relaxing" vibe. I still play my PC but not nearly as often now, the new gen systems tick a lot of boxes for me, and the freedom of PS+ and gamepass really do it for me.

Xbox legitimately knocked it out of the park this gen. The Xbox Series X|S is the first gaming console I would say is a must have.

The Series S is actually my first ever Microsoft console. Truth be told I didn't know much about the game pass service. It was the Series S and it's pricepoint that got my attention. Once I looked into the service and the Microsoft strategy this generation, it was a wrap for me personally. I opted not to pursue a PS5 and go for the Series S. About 9 months in at this point and without question I know I made the right choice this generation. I own a Seagate 4tb external drive prior to getting the Series S which allowed me to play a majority of gamepass games and buy some time until the external ssd price goes down. Plus I'm able to use quick resume and play enhanced games off the drive as well which was a pleasant surprise. The Series S was a genius move by Microsoft and a beast of a machine for its price.

@@thelotus8285 Same here. It looked really good on my smaller 1080p TV intially. I recently bought a 4k TV but I messed up by not paying attention to the fact that it was a 60hz as opposed to 120hz, so I'm not quite able to get the max capabilities of the Series S that I was shooting for. But that's my fault for not knowing at the time. With that said I'm very pleased with what this little console is able to pull off.

As an Xbox Series S owner you’ve hit all the pros & cons. However, I appreciate all the options the Xbox controller allows i.e. standard AA, rechargeable AA or the recharge packs. I use rechargeable AA’s and have them lined up and ready to hot swap at a moment’s notice. I can’t do that with PS3, PS4 or PS5. Best part I haven’t had to replace a single Xbox controller. Can’t say the same for built in battery controller that no longer holds a charge. I can even use my Xbox One S controller on the Series S! I believe the Xbox elite series 2 controller has built in rechargeable.

My ps5 controller typically goes 14-16 hours on a single charge, so usually I tell myself if I get on at full charge (which obviously I do since it charges through the night) and I'm playing long enough to actually get a low battery alert, I need to just get off and go outside or go to bed lmao

I've had my ps5 for almost a full month now and I've only ever gotten "low battery" alert once, whereas on ps4 it seemed to die all the time. I know the triggers and haptic feedback can drain battery life but they're not even on ps4 games so if I'm playing a ps4 game my controller lasts the entire day with still some juice left in it. Even on miles Morales, where you're constantly using the adaptive triggers, it lasts a good amount of time.

I quite enjoyed this perspective and I love how clean and tasteful looking all of your setups are. Personally, most people won't be too concerned about this but I don't mind having to use AA batteries because as the controller gets older, I don't have to worry about an internal battery failing and having to deal with that. Overall though, despite a few shortcomings, the Series S is a lot of bang for the buck and an even better option for those who just want Game Pass. Plus it is readily available at retail like you say. For the price of the Series S, the best you could do for a PC would be a used office machine with integrated graphics or some old outdated gaming computer.

Facts thats what people don't understand about rechargeable controller. If the charging system malfunctions you are screwed and need a brand new controller. Sony players had so many issues with that through ps3 even now to ps5. That's why I love that microsoft hasn't gone that route because they are smart in that regard.

You are on the right track with the IKEA LADDA batteries! I have an official Battery pack, but I don't use it. Rechargeable AA are much more convenient! I never worry about recharging the controller. I just put it down when I'm done and don't worry about it. When I get a low battery waring it take seconds to swap them out to
for a fresh set stored in a wall charger. Having to plug in your controller when you are not playing makes it semi-wireless. I prefer fully wireless.

I'm playing Halo Infinite on my Series S and it felt great, some things just look natural and detailed. I'm playing on a 1080p screen so anything that the console runs at 1440p whether is Native or Dynamic just gets downsampled and the image looks better, the internet connection is just WAY better, went from 30 to 50mbps to 140 to 200mbps, filled the whole SSD in like 9 or 10 hours, the SSD makes anything run faster. This console may run everything at 30fps in the future but the loading times, download speed, graphics and space because it's a mini console, I can take it anywhere with his little cable and console. All that is a major upgrade.

I got a PS 5 last year but decided to get a Series S to go along with it and I’m glad I did. This is an amazing little system and Game Pass is the best value in gaming. Graphically…it might not be as powerful but it still looks great. I really don’t have anything negative to say about it as it’s worth every bit of $299. You really can’t go wrong with this system.

I heavily doubt that game developers are going to stick with disc drive for much longer. The push for buying all digital saves costs on materials for the console and for the disc makers. I agree that the storage capacity for this console is severely lacking and that's my only complaint. I wanted the Series X but with demand far outpacing supply, there just isn't a way for me to get a Series X without dropping close to $1,000 is next to impossible. I will stick with this one until the X is more readily available at MSRP cost. The first thing I plan to upgrade is the controller, having a battery pack in 2022 is just insulting so that was a big oversight for Microsoft.

And some of the games like Forza 5, Halo Infinite or co-op games aren't something you can just finish and move on. So you will have few games that will always be downloaded on a console making that tiny storage even smaller.
So if you are a gamer that likes to only play one or two games a time, than Series S may work for you. For me, I am not like that and I do not constantly want to download/delete games as I would like to keep decent amount games on drive for me to cycle between games.
