Today I will show you why I think the Xbox Series S could be the ultimate console to buy right now when factoring in the cost and availability. Plus I will cover the features it’s missing and do a side-by-side comparison against the Xbox Series X (games and resolution).

Great review! One note though: the games can render and output 4K on the Series S. They are not limited to 1440p. See Ori and the Will of the Wisps and The Touryst for examples. The box advertises "1440p" to set your expectations that games will generally not be 4K, whereas the Series X can frequently hit native 4K. I'd say that most AAA games are closer to 1080p @ 60Hz on Series S, but they look phenomenal with modern antialiasing, a high quality video scaler, and HDR. There are also many games that can run at 120Hz on Series S, which is no joke.

I think there is more dynamic discussion that could have been given on the storage. As you can get a really cheap 2-4tb hard drive that can store your Xbox 360 and XB one games on leaving the internal storage just for the Series S/X. You can also store your series S/X games on there and jusy transfer them over to the internal drive when you want to play them and it’s a much quicker way than re-downloading them off the store.

Just a reminder that you can buy an external Hard Drive for storage on your Series S. Last gen games will run just fine on the external drive, but for current gen, you could just do what i do and leave a bit of room on the HDD to transfer games between both storages. This way you can keep all your current gen games downloaded. You'll just have to transfer them between storages to play which takes 5-10 minutes depending on the game size. But it's cheaper than buying an official SSD.

For someone who doesn't get into the nitty gritty of tech specs, games look plenty good enough for me right now. The Series S is plain amazing, especially with GamePass and if you are into backward compatibility gaming. I've just completed the entire Gears series on 360 because I never got to play them back in the day (Gears 1 to Judgment) and it's been a pure blast. You can also find an online list of all the games who received an FPS boost (including Xbox and Xbox 360 games) so there's that too. Some are now locked at 60 and some are even at 120 FPS. I think it's a great deal :) you're getting ray tracing, 120fps, and a next gen experience for a budget price. It's especially good for people like me who live in countries where the new consoles are really overpriced (the series x and ps5 disc are 678 dollars, and the ps5 digital is 557, while the series s is 412) and gamepass makes it an even better console. Only problem is the storage. I also find it really cool that you can use retroarch on it. I'll still try and save up for a series x, but I definitely won't complain if I end up getting the s. @@blueberrypie8757 Nah I'm still considering it, for now I'll still with the PS4 Pro

Idk if I can recommend it as your primary console, I bought one since I just needed a next gen Xbox for Halo infinite. Otherwise I usually just play my PS5. Great video though 👍🏽

I just got one of these last week when my brother upgraded to the X. I feel I might do the same in a couple of years. For now, It is a lot of fun and it rocks to play RDR2 with Quick Resume, practically no loading screens.
Forgot to mention I take it in a small backpack when I'm at my girl's and I love the portability factor in it.

Thinking of buying and was pleased to hear you say it’s a good second console 🥳 as I have a PS5 for the main bulk of my gaming. However with Halo Infinity and Forza 5 (Elder Scrolls 6) I’m considering the S 🍻

I’ve been using the series s since it got released and it’s a pretty decent console for the price and if you have game pass it’s amazing and games load really fast my only problem is the storage

  • @JonesBrothersProductionsiac

I'm thinking about getting one in my bedroom. I've got a 1080p TV in there and I think it would be a good purchase.

Yeah I keep thinking whether those slick 4k graphics are worth it or not. I am not sure. Better graphics does increase immersion in the game. I've currently got the S, but upgrading would mean also getting a 4k monitor, as mine is 1440p at the moment. It all gets very costly.

Got the Xbox SS for Christmas from my brother who is in the navy. At first, I wasn’t too excited for it and hated that the design of the console lacked a hole that disks were supposed to go in and how uncomfortable the controller felt and how I always get the controls confused with Nintendo Switch (I barely use but remember the buttons) and PS4 (My usual console that I always use.) But I gave it a chance to try out some games like Halo Infinite and Dying Light, it worked out very well but I still need to get the hang of the controls and the games. Other than that, I’m glad my brother got me this.
