Thanks for the video! While my install was slightly different your tips and tricks worked perfectly.
Great video. Thanks for making it. For the lazy asses like me, I was able to easily get an allen wrench in without popping the tank off 😉👍
yes sir its doable for sure ...glad to help!
As always, great video, very informative. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge!
Thank you for checking it out Doug. Much appreciated.
Thank Steve you are really good at the videos and i do appreciate the freeness!
Thank you Jeff! And thank you for checking it out. Be safe brother!
Awsome job steve!!!
Missed it this year. Started a new job. Plan on Sturgis ty and both next. Glad you had a good time. Hopefully I’ll see you in Sturgis!
Another great video Steve. Thanks. I especially like the fact that you reply to most of the comments with sound advice. The advice/reply to the “your favorite tuner” was very informative. Your opinion holds weight with those of us that watch/subscribe. Keep ‘em comin brother!
Hey Kevin...thanks man...just got back from Daytona so im playing catch up on comments. had a great timedown there but im glad to be home.
Good stuff, thank you.
Nice!! Thank you ! I guess I have to remove my fuel tank to remove the throttle bracket.. Thanks again!
I really appreciate how simple and straight forward you make your videos. I feel like I could tackle these projects myself and not send everything to the shop, since I don't sometimes know the difference between lefty-loosey and righty-tighty
Thank you Brett and im glad these vids help out man...I know watching someone lese do it always helps me on jobs Im not to sure about. HD has made it pretty easy these days to work on these bikes ...im thankful for that
Love the videos!
Thank you JD!
Boy oh Boy Sik Baggers is going to teach me how to rebuild my own bike Thank you guys for these videos!!!!
Yes sir...glad to help and thank you for checking them out! Much appreciated.
best video on youtube. very nice video work.
Many many thanks
Steve, you've done the best job of explaining -both visually & veebally-how to that it makes complete sense, even for us "newb"s! I will be considering the Arlen Ness air cleaner for my ride upgrade! Now it's just "what pipes do I want to put on to go with the complete "upgrade" package. Doug🏍️👍😁🤓
Seriously take a look at the TAB Performance 4.5 or 50 cal here is my video on the 50 cal's czcams.com/video/9-Ba3wk1yQ4/video.html and here it is on the 4.5 bam sticks czcams.com/video/EqIDlMfIdSg/video.htmlsi=63XfRyyIQNI8liGK
love the videos. Im going to be wrenching on mine soon.
grateful that they are helping sir...be safe!
Looks nice.
Thank you David.
I used a A/N big sucker,Rush 7017 H/O header with Big Louies and a V/H tuner , with their recommend auto tune the bike ran great
Yeah man thats a great set up..I love my big Louie pipes!
Excellent vid as usual. Only thing I didn't get is why that exposed filter doesn't need a rain sock. Seems that any exposed filter like that would need protection if riding in the rain.
Hi Steve, love your videos and explanations! Big Fan. I ordered myself a new air cleaner and I can't wait to install it.
In this video however I have noticed your passenger floorboards, could you tell me which ones they are? Also Ciro?
Thanks for everything you share, and happy rides
You da man. Another great video brother super informative like always I am fan keep up the good work brother take care
Thank you Ben! Almost riding season man! Im ready! May sneak one in today
Yup I am right there with you it's not a bad day for a short ride out here in south west Missouri take care my brother
Love the your video, one question? You said when you wash the filter let it dry over night, but yet again its ok to drive in the rain without a rain sock. I do like this setup and looks great!
Thats a good looking air cleaner
I have the arlen ness on both touring models..love them!
@sikbaggers What about this 'no rain sock needed talk from AN'?You probably don't get much chance to test it am I right?
one question would it not be better to use an external breather system with that setup.
Hello, could you tell me what kind of grease you use for the o-rings ? Thanks !
Thanks for doing this great explanation.
Thank you Kevin! Much appreciated.
I always use my wife's best towels, it's usually a month or so before she realizes it, LoL 😂, great install and great choice of air breather 💯✌️😎
hahha man ive been down that road before...it didnt work out good for me LOL thanks for checking it out!!
@@sikbaggersI always enjoy your videos brother 💯
I have converted 2009 electra glide ultra classic(to Hannigan Trike). If i wanted to do 2into 1 with dummie pipe what brand would be your recommendation? I have Arlenn Ness air filter to install also.. Love the videos
You VIDEOS are awesome because of you I got a air ride and center stand you did a great job 👏. BROVO ZULU
Thank you Sir...much appreciated! Glad they helped..love my air and center stand set up
Is the Powervision better than the FP3? I have a 2017 Street Glide CVO 117 Stage 4. Currently using FP3.
Do you have a engine blackout kit for the bolts?
I have a 2000 Road King fuel injected. Can you recommend a tuner for my bike ?
is it worth swapping this air cleaner with the stock 90 degree on the road glide St? 90 degree bothers me cause of the leg room. You dont to remap if you have slip ons only as well right? i got the rhinehrt dbx 4.5 on there right now.
Steve, thanks for all these great videos that you put out, they are much appreciated and enjoyed. Really silly question, but what type of red grease are you using in this Arlen Ness air cleaner install video. Thanks for all you do.
thank you sir and its just lucas oil red n tacky....and man it lasts forever if you are just doing simple stuff like this..had that tube for about 4 years lol
Advan black tank cover ? Great video Steve!
Thank you..yes this is the Advanblack cover
Will it fit on a 64 mm?
Hey Steve I just recently started following you and already appreciate the content you put out. It's very informative and to the point. I made a purchase on the Arlen Ness 15 Spoke inverted about an hour ago after watching your install video. I have a 2018 RG Special. After reading reviews on the om the Arlen Ness Air Cleaner I see some mention something about oil leaks and some oil reserves. Do you have any idea what this is in reference to and also will I have a problem putting it on my model Harley with the oil issue. One guy mentioned the oil leaked back to his saddlebags so I'm lost my guy. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
To add to what's above I found out it's called an oil catch can and I saw on some forums where guys added the can along with a hose. Some shortened the hose to sit behind the air cleaner and others ran it down to the bottom. Still concerned about oil spraying out. I believe one of the companies that sells the can is DK.
The oil they are seeing is called blow by and it is from the crank case..Oil migrates slowly up the breather tube and makes its way out through your air filter. With time, it accumulates and releases a drip at a time from the bottom of your breather cover Many relocate the breather tubes so that the oil drops to the ground. You can minimize this by not over filling your oil when doing oil changes. If you do over fill, it will breath the excess oil all over the side of your bike. You can get these oil cans and collect the oil...Ive had it on my sg for 3 years now and never had any oil blow by...I would say these guys are over filling the oil. Keep your oil level on the bottom end of the "safe" area. However your riding temps and altitude can effect this as well. If yours becomes an issue start with the oil level and if it persists then you can get a collector. Lots of companies make them.
Thank you for always creating great content. What electronic driver is that? I've been looking for it but am having a hard time finding it. Thanks!
well that drivewr is my GO TO tool...been using it for 3 years and its still going strong! Its the Milwaukee M12 3/8 variable speed ratchet...here is where I got it..but sometimes amazon has package deals where you can get the battery, charger and ratchet all in one..but I got these.. Ratchet - amzn.to/3N98Jgy Charger - amzn.to/3N7FSJu Battery - amzn.to/3SCgMDJ
Thank you for your informative videos! Thinking about purchasing this air cleaner kit. Does the oil reservoir included with this kit serve as a "catch can"?
Yes it does....works very well at it too.
@@sikbaggers I bought the Arlen Ness Drift air kit. It has holes in the backing plate that go from the banjo bolt to the sides of the throttle body opening and has a couple of short rubber tubes that feed blowback straight into the throttle body. It also has the oil reservoir. I can't see the reservoir doing any good at all with the blowback being fed into the throttle body. I've seen other videos where the Arlen Ness kit does not have these holes routing from the banjo bolts to the throttle body. If I want to install a catch can, I'll have to plug the holes leading into the throttle body. I can't figure out why Arlen Ness started to included the routed holes AND include the oil reservoir.
Question. I have a stage 1 tune downloaded at Harley years ago, SE air filter and full Python throwback exhaust on my 2015 Harley Iron 883. Im updating my bike and changing my air filter and exhaust system to Cobra 909s and air filter cleaner. Will that mess up my tune in any way and is there anything I should be concerned about? I wanna do it myself.
if you already had the SE air filter, changing it to another open air filter will not change anything. as long as it an get more air than the stock filter doesn your bike will adjust the little bit it needs to for filter size if there is a difference. Those 2 pipes look pretty much the same as far as length and being dual exhaust so I would say your current tune will be just fine.
Hi Steve, thanks for the rocking vids. Always appreciated and look forward to the next one. Do you have a favorite tuner? That topic has been done to death on forums but it all seems to be about personal opinions rather than facts. Your opinion would add lots of weight to this subject. For now, just headers, slip-ons and breather. Who knows what next. Cheers.
Agreed...This has been beat to death lol and I agree..it comes down to what guys where initially exposed to as a tuner, and that tuner will be the "best tuner on the market" (insert eye roll here) After using just about every tuner on the market I have came down to using the PowerVision and here is why....Almost every tuner I have used does the same thing...maps the bike to perform at its best with what you have. As you know all tuners once installed are married to the bike...and so is the powervision...however for a few hundred bucks I can purchase another license from powervision and tune another bike with the same tuner. In my instance that is great because I have 2 bikes...one tuner. The powervision also has the on board screen...no bluetoothing to phones tablets etc..it has a long enough cable I can run it to my handlebars and watch real time performance on the tuner itself. also it comes in chrome or black lol just a side note there. If you are really good at tuning and "know your shit" so to speak you can really fine tune with the powervision in great detail...on the otherr end of that it has a auto tune which is decent..about as decent as any auto tune on the market I guess..im not a fan of it. With this bike the tunes from powervision are about the same as the fp3... I selected high input air cleaner, high output slip ons and it let me choose Vance and Hines Dresser dual headers...the tune, once downloaded takes about a minute to install and you on the road.
@@sikbaggers thanks so much for the quick response. I don't know much about tuning but love to wrench on my bike. Will probably go with the Powervision and learn how to tune, lots of time for to do so before riding season. Cheers brother.
Did you ever tighten the 3 screws holding the air cleaner or did you leave them loose ?
My brother Steve I’m getting Harley Davison to do a stage two on my Triglide Trike. Do I need to change my air filter? I changed it to the stage one do I need to stage two?
Stage 1 is opening the exhaust, open air cleaner, open headers and a tune. Once that is done it is done...every stage after that is just other things like cams, heads etc. The only thing you will revisit on the stage 1 is the tune based on your stage upgrade.
Steve, is the removal of the tank necessary for all cleaners in order to remove backing plate? I have a 21 RGS and seen some other videos where no one removes the tank. I just purchased the Arlen Ness Drift inverted. Please advise. Thx
Heres the deal on those bolts..if you can get to it without removing the tank and making up a bunch of cuss words dont remove it lol...its way easier to remove it though and pull those bolts right out...thats just my opnion though ...takes me 2 minutes to pull a tank and saves me some frustration ...thats really your call
@@sikbaggers got it. Thx!
If I add the Arlen ness big sucker and a tune do you need the decatted headers, or can you run with the cat still in the head pipe
No you can run your stock headers with the air cleaner and slip ons...tons of guys do it...headers are pretty pricey and you dont gain tones of HP from changing them..it does open up the system and a good tune will provide slightly more HP and it will actually sound a lot deeper in most cases...however you need to weigh price vs sound/small amount of HP gain ....You will be just fine with the stock headers. You can get away with no tuning your bike with slip ons and a open air cleaner but I recommend you tune it...it certainly wont hurt and you will be getting the maximum performance from your bike.
@@sikbaggers thanks good to know. I do have the Arien Ness and the slip on with a tuner. Just as you said expense was the reason for keeping the stock headers. Really enjoying your channel keep it up. Will be looking into the Advon Black parts soon
How does the banjo bolts breathe when they are covered???
there is a breather hole in each bolt and the bolt is hollow
Are u still directing crank vent back into the throttle body
yes, however on these bikes they dont always get burnt up as there tends to be access being dumped in...usually from over filling the oil
Torque setting on the banjo bolts?
Hey Bill they are 22 to 24 ft lbs on 14 to 16 touring. This bike was a 15....Yours may be different, I don't know what bike you have. If you let me know what year and model you have I will send you over a link to my google drive where you can download a free copy of the service manual for your bike. It'll come in handy for you as you wrench on your bike.
Now I can do it too!
Indeed! Thanks for checking it out.
Wait what? Don’t need a rain sock but make really sure you get it dry before reinstalling it after cleaning?
It means while riding in the rain you will be ok as the filter will not allow "rain" to be sucked in and bog the motor down. If you are washing it you are soaking the filter entirely ...they are water resistant not water proof. Rain and soaking the filter in water is not the same. With any open filter that is made of paper it will need a rain sock. These dont. synthetic material that never needs oil, just wash and re-use for long lasting performance, Synthetic filters are water resistant eliminating the need for a rain sock. After washing, Shake off excess water and allow filter to thoroughly dry prior to riding ...pretty simple.
Any puking of oil from the throttle body or need for a catch can?
All of them puke from the throttle body into the filter, its not the filter its the engine, its designed that way, one issue is your throttle body cannot burn that amount of oil so it collects in the air cleaner and the second issue is most air cleaners cannot store a ton of oil in it before it starts leaking on to your engine and pants leg...this one has an oil catch / reservoir on the back side but its very small so if you have massive blow by you need to address it or it will fill up quickly. Even if you do a catch can it will fill up and you will need to clean it frequently. Your best bet in reducing blow by is getting a vented dipstick.
What's your opinion on the trask check m8 for blow by?@@sikbaggers
Is there a certain cleanser to use to clean or just cleanse with water
Tap the filter to loosen debris, brush off any debris remaining, clean the filter with water and mild degreasers like Siple green or Formula 409, shake off excess water and allow to dry...I leave it at least overnight to dry. Don't use gas, brake line cleaner, or anything harder than a store-bought degreaser and you'll be good.
@@sikbaggers so this filter does not require to be oiled
@@michaelcamarillo8755 no, it is not a paper filter..
Will this fit a 58 mm throttlebody
Not really sure and I hate to steer you in the wrong direction ...please call Arlen ness Tech here 925.479.6379
That looks like the 15 spoke!
yeah..the link is at the very top of the description..says 15 spoke.
Does it worth it? Increase horsepower?
A combination of headers, air cleaner and slip ons will increase horsepower. If you are only doing one thing it will increase it but not enough to notice
Throwd?
what?
Get the Chinese version from Ebay for $140 and save the other $200 for another upgrade. They are the same as Arlen Ness.
yeah ...had a buddy order the black knock off and within a year it was copper colored...cheap powder coat
You get what you pay for.
or maybe you can pay it forward and keep someone working in our neck of the woods..(MADE IN USA
nice video, but golly gee, what a pain...and for what? 1 or 2 hp. And the cost, $400 or more. not gonna' do it.
Ok
