    This looks like a good alternative for those of us that found the Mordax to be a bit too large.

      They are similar in size. However, Mordax feels much larger in hand. I prefer the blade shapes of Malibu but what has ruined all flippers for me is the flipper action of the malibu. I have not found a better action and for this reason the malibu has been my edc since it came out. I have tried to carry others but I always go back to malibu after a few days.

    The laugh of pure joy at feeling the action is what sold me on it.

    Nick, Thanks for disassembly of the knife, knowing that it can be serviced is very important. Most knives eventually need to be worked on to keep the action tip top. Great Video Thanks again. : )

    I saw your old review on ceramic bearings. In this vid you see the most critical component. The hardened steel washer between the bearing and the liners, or scales. If the bearings are running on a soft steel or titanium surface, it's comparable to driving on mud versus concrete.
    If the only moving parts are the blade and bearings, ceramic works dry, just blow it out with canned air occasionally and you're good to go.
    Long time viewer, love your channel👍

    Thanks! Just got a Malibu about a week ago and so far I'm really digging it. Was looking to put some ceramic (Skiff) bearings in it But I've never taken a protect or a button lock apart so I didn't want any surprises. Very simple, thanks. And I love how very simple and solid the build is on this thing. Just two solid slabs, a button and a spring. I see why they might go with aluminum - light enough to make two solid slabs without being unwieldy, strong enough to keep the integrity of the handle.

    • @krislong9338
      @krislong9338 Před 3 lety

      There also wasn't a whole lot to mess up - I had to fiddle a little with the pivot-stop-button to get it working correctly but there was little margin for error in that it appeared to just work or just not work. Action is pretty close to the same but I might have put it together a tiny bit tighter, so I'll see how it feels after a couple hundred flips and redo the screws if it doesn't seem happy. It was beautifully smooth and fast but not quite together enough and I didn't use loctite which I guess I will on the frame screws eventually. PIvot I'm still getting the feel for.
      I didn't see any loctite on these screws, just a little blackened grease/oil from the factory. It was pretty clean and simple overall. Will see if you have disassembly vids for knives to use my other 3 bearing pairs in, heh

    Oh yeah, I mean, bearings in a knife don't have to support a load. Here's an example people will hate, it's the same deal with hand spinners. Now the bearings in a skateboard have to hold up to your weight while moving so you gotta have lubricant...
    Dry or lubed, with bearings in a knife it doesn't matter...

  • @PulledPurk

    A little pissed about this one. Managed to snag one of the pricier titanium-handled versions of these after so much patience, waiting, and monitoring of my BHQ wishlist. Plus there's the $400 price of admission. And, I got sent a knife with an off-centered blade caused by a bent frame on the clip side. Adjusting pivot made no difference, so I took it apart. I knew something was off straight away when I was taking the bottom screws off, and the frame was pulling itself apart when the pivot was still tight. When I check it against a straight edge, it's bent.
    Never owned a Pro-Tech before, and I'm already loathing to deal with their warranty service on my first sampling of their products if this is what they think is acceptable to send out on an item in limited production.
