This trailer is based on a real game of about 12 hours. The map has been extended and polished in the in-game map editor. All the actions, movement and logic in general in the trailer are controlled by the game native modding system (Lua scripting).

Its creator is in this video (the guy with white shirt). Hes a czech, but sadly video is only in czech. He basically says, that he loved Industrial craft mod for Minecraft, but wanted something better. When losed job and girlfriend, work at Factorio began. With only one friend and one other guy that remotedly worked from abroad they created this masteripiece. That podcast is much more comprehensive, but this is the main point. Can we talk about how awesome it is the devs included this little bit in the description:

They're incredibly open. They have a demo, when for most companies it makes no financial sense. They take player feedback. They genuinely care about their playerbase.

I heard Kovarex talking about it - it is just a savegame with some triggers which can be just run, recorded and a new trailer is out.

And it's still missing the theme lemotif at the end.

The trailer starts out so small, then it just dumps you into a moderately big factory. Factorio is godly.

They made like £40,000,000 from the game and they live in a country (Czech Republic) that has a 15% flat tax rate on income, so they keep £34,000,000 of that. Where the average salary is 5x less than you, and the cost of living is also 5x less than you.
I think they will survive.
PS: I am not against the Factorio dev team in anyway, i love the game, i just hate idiots that seem to believe that if they don't throw money at something it will die, like youtubers who lie about their youtube incomes to get more patreons or whatever.

@@SCARRIOR CZcams pays fuck all since google bought YT and caused most channels to get demonetized. so for MOST creators, Patreon is their only source of income and you can go to Patreon and see how much they are making haha so I'd say it's pretty transparent.

@@wilson1082 What about it? I think there was even a version of this trailer before 2016. It was updated once or twice along with the game. It is pretty cool for comparison how the game developed. Old graphics and sprites that seemed fine back then, but the developers made them even better.
I would say this is the best game trailer ever made. It perfectly captures the game with zero cinematics, text, or voiceovers, just in-game footage and music.

It is a vehicle that can be driven, or remotely controlled.
It can traverse obstacles and small bodies of water.
It has a built-in radar, and you can place blueprints in its vicinity.
It has an equipment grid, so it can build with construction robots and use combat equipment.
It has four rapid-firing rocket launchers that can shoot automatically.
It can be researched very late in the game (all science packs except Space).
Multiple of them can be deployed at the same time, but each requires its own linked controller.
This all means it can be used as a tank upgrade, a less automated version of artillery, or a builder/repairer. We look forward to seeing what other uses you can invent."

Everyone involved in this masterpiece should be incredibly proud! Factorio is just one of those games I keep coming back to. I don't remember when I bought it, but when I reviewed it in 2016 I had 400+ hours in it. 851 hours so far and counting!

One day I'll actually get Factorio, since I've recently proved to myself that the neverending factory production game is a genre I find fascinating (via Dyson Sphere Program), and yet I have to say that this trailer is one of the best ones ever made. No expository dialogue or dramatic camera angles, just showing building, automation, the biters, and gradually showing just how much it all grows.
The factory must grow. And one day I will help it grow.
I love this, the music, the speed, the chaos of the factory... it delivers message what the game is about. Crash into a planet. Mine items. Smelt them. Move them along the conveyr belts, automate processes, setup railroads to deliver goods from place A to B. Produce energy, but beware pollution as it causes aliens to attack. Expand, expand and expand. Create a giant factory.
All the core gameplay elements, culminating in the launch of the rocket. The fact that player only appears for few moments to start the automation tells quite well what the game does.
It's a perfect trailer.

@@seven_chords I'm gonna send my usual set of reasons why you need this game now:
Factorio is literally one of the best games I've ever played. It's addictive (they call it cracktorio for a reason), the core gameplay loop of expanding and fixing parts of your factorio is so engaging that people have been known to stay up until 4 am building their first factory. It's not grindy atall either, the automation means that your factory grows exponentially without much input.
The other huge thing that makes factorio awesome for me is the devs. Factorio's development team are awesome. Often, you will see someone report a bug and within twenty minutes it will be fixed for the next release (at least this was the situation in early access.) The majority of bugs open on the forums ATM are so minor that most game studios wouldn't even keep track of them. The game is unbelievably polished and bug free, that if you can successfully get the game to crash then I applaud you. Huge factories are possible with very little lag.
Next, there's the community. The factorio community is amazing. New players are welcomed with open arms and questions (no matter how ridiculous) are answered without hesitation. When you're done with the base game, you're not even half way into Factorio's content. The game supports mods natively, and the vast majority of mods are of a high quality. There are even mod packs like seablock - similar to Minecraft's skyblock. Huge amounts of content are out there for you to enjoy.
Factorio is deserving of its place as 2nd top rated game on steam. The game has been in development for 8 years, and the developers take their time when adding new content and prioritize stability over features (although new content doesn't matter now, as the game is feature complete).
TL;DR: You need this game. Buy it please. THE FACTORY GROWS
@@seven_chords Never ever buy this game. It's a scam to starve you out of food and social contacts. I've already lost 1400hrs to it, and counting. And I play it for less than a year. Usually it goes like this: You start your game on friday evening, play for two hours, then feel a bit hungry. So you look at the clock as you ate two hours ago, and its monday evening and you have no fricking idea where the time went.
By far the best part of this trailer remaster is that after six years they've FINALLY fixed the fast inserters removing coal from the train engine at 0:44

This base is playable in mod "Story Missions - Scenario Pack", mission #9. (Small notice about this mod - it called as "20+ hours of gameplay", but as far as I am 30-hours-Rocket-Launch-average-player-enjoyer", i've spent only about 20 hours EACH of last 3 missions... It is really awesome)

Honestly the only thing I could ever ask for is maybe a handbook for new players, that way people who aren't savvy with management can still enjoy this game. This game has come such a long way, glad to see the old trailer redone in the 1.0 version of the game. I've been playing for a good while, since around 0.14 I think, I have yet to launch a rocket, but I still love this game. Congratulations on the release of 1.0 guys!!

What a great game. 50 hours spent, finally built that rocket. I know it's very slow but no game before got me to think and plan out things so hard. And the best thing is - everything just works. The game is perfectly thought out.
I haven't played very long yet, but what I find amazing is that I haven't seen a single audio/visual/key input/hotbox/collision glitch yet. Best devs ever!

Got this game back in 2014... didn't know much as a 14 year old but loved it. One and off since then and now working on my fourth megabase. You have made an amazing game and should be so proud.

Also, why have trains deliver copper, iron AND coal instead of separate trains for each? Those inserters sorting them aren't filter inserters, and inserters shouldn't _NEED_ to sort those! Also, what kind of moron doesn't take out spawners so fucking close to their factory? Their defense SUCKS! That is NOT a good way to play Factorio!

This trailer is still one of my favorite game trailer of all time. It's so cute and satisfying to watch and the music fits perfectly
I only wish they had put the music from the trailer into the game. Imagine you are somewhere in the wild and moving back to your factory, and as you come closer, this music slowly fades in.
The ending is so good, with the bright spots bringing your attention in (rocket, train lights, then top right lasers into the spidertron). If I didn't already own this game, this trailer would have for sure brought me on.
Still love to watch this every once in a while. Prrobably the best trailer i've seen for a game.

@@samueldim_ You can use different colored underground belts to lay down simultaneous streams of material on one line, just as an example of using different colored belts in one layout. Not to mention underground belts have differing lengths to go along with that.

I seldomly use woven underground belts because I set my factory as megabase, so I always have some space... hahaha but thanks anw!
I get the ocd completely. But I use different colours if I sometimes want to tweak traffic speeds. Good for early spaghetti bases

This trailer is one of the best trailers I've ever seen. The music fits perfectly with the actions in the video. And I'm in love with the chaotic flare of the music.

I've never understood how this game works and was kinda intimidated by it from watching occasional recommended videos.
This video however showed the basics of the game and now it doesn't seem too complex to start playing.
1) a processing unit with input and output
2) material transportation for processing
3) bulk material transportation between processing plants
4) defense against aliens

I absolutely loved this trailer back then and happy it's still in place! My favorite moments are the train smashing the biters and when the drones are shown with the "flight of the bumblebee"-like music in the background 👍 Just wondering, how easy or not was it to adapt the trailer after all changes made to the game during these years?)
