This trailer was 95% of their budget.
Real moment
The final scene with the colony collapsing is now weirdly prescient. RIP KSP2, your dreams crashed and burned the way the ships did in the trailer.
We can still hope for a spiritual successor.

It took you this long to realize that????

@@Fallout_yep_just_that_yea what devs?
there are none left, or at least not enough to actually do anything.
KSP 2 might be dead, but this will be remembered.
Indeed, this trailer was the best part of KSP2...if the game would have delivered just 10% of the feels and features of this trailer, the game might have had success 😞

It's funny, I must have watched this trailer 100 times by now. But today feels different. I first started playing KSP 1 in middle school. I was a junior in high-school when this trailer dropped. Now I am a year away from a masters degree in aerospace engineering. KSP has been my favorite game for a decade at this point. Today is a truly sad day
Some American universities will let you do a five year program where you get both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. That’s a year faster than normal.

Just take your time to get it right, Private Division. Even if it takes additional months for the sake of quality. Prove to us you're worthy of taking over from Squad.

When I first saw this trailer, I thought the way everything crumbled or broke apart in the video, like the launchpads, spaceships, and colonies was typical zany Kerbal (TM) styling. Now I know it was a subtle foreshadowing of what would happen with the actual game.
F's in the chat.
I can still see the comment I left 4 years ago being so hyped for the game.
I'm watching it at 0.25x, so I'd get used with the fps I'll have.

@@Sevival In all fairness, it was a joke. I'm quite sure, I'll get steady 60+ fps
You joke, but I'm honestly hoping KSP2 gets some actual performance optimization, at least compared to the original.
This trailer makes me patriotic for a country, species, and space program that doesn't even exist.
This is how trailers are made.
It will exist, and it's called Artemis: nasa.gov/artemis (I'm hopeful)

All the time you took to release this game and here we are. It's sad to remember all of the hope and excitement we all held. Here's hoping it gets better
i think it will... eventually. we have ksp 1 and that game can be made to look way better than ksp 2 right now, but we cant forget that ksp 1 took years to get to where it is now too, and a lot of that time was early access as well. don't get me wrong ksp 2 is being developed extremely slowly and i think that the trend of announcing games with a release date before even having a working alpha build is and will always be a disaster either for the community or if they managed to get it out in time would have been an unbelievable crunch and stress for the developers. i think the way they have handled the backlash was fairly good so far and the discord and community posts they release is way more than we got with ksp 1 while in early access. i think a slow burn development with community input is the right thing for this type of game and once the physics bugs and some of the major milestones like science and colony building are implemented tweaking those things will become faster and more reliable.

I know no one will probably read this, but I just want to say my piece. Ksp has been a part of my life for almost more time than it hasn't: my dad introduced me to the original game at 9 years old in 2013. Me and my Dad have been playing the original and then the sequel (after For Science) ever since, and I'm now studying a degree in Physics With Astrophysics. I can't describe how much this franchise means to me, even seeing the trailer 4 years later makes me tear up. I know it's corny but this game is genuinely instrumental in both my academic path and my relationship with my dad. Even if it takes years (which it already has), continue to push the game forwards as far as it will go to show future generations just what we're capable of, and to inspire them to push forward in real life.
This franchise is more than the sum of its parts, its special beyond words. Push on even if its tough (like you did with the release state with the game), I don't think the devs even realise just how important this game is to future generations of people interested in space. I don't mean to heap pressure on the devs, but once it's finished this game will hopefully inspire an entire new generation.
I read it :)
@@timharnansMe too!
I as well
What a great comment
This trailor sent chills down my spine, I grew up with KSP and all of the memories of landing on the Mun for the first time, landing on another planet for the first time, all of that has stuck with me, I am 15yrs old going into year 10 choosing pretty much all sciences, mathematics, and aviation and spatial technologies, to say that KSP has inspired me (among thousands of others) is an understatement, and now there is a 2nd game to inspire the people of tomorrow. I think that i speak for most of the KSP community by saying thankyou for all the hard work, determination, and everything inbetween into this game, it has paid off.
One thing only, guys.
Don't let Jeb, Bill, Bob and Valentina fall into the forgotten abyss, make them as Veteran Kerbonauts, or if not, then make at least a monument so that we won't forget them
and don't forget Gene!
Who's Gene?
@Momo Mamado Gene Kerman of course
@Momo Mamado well... XD
Actually it would be nice to have a new 4 starting kerbals.
Maybe have one named Jeb Jr. for fun.
Have the old crew as a monument in the middle of KSC, and as a buildible statue for your base.
Me: Looks to my pc.
My Pc: Don’t even think about it.
Me: bra don’t worry about it I’m sure it will be fine and all of the bugs will be gone and high quality will be there you ran more than a 100 mods on Skyrim you will be fineeeeeeeeeee
KSP 2: has one major bug
My pc: turn the game off turn it offff please I beg I will run 200 mods plssss
Me:installed a mod
My pc: we are all fucked
Emperor Borg Palpatine yup
That's why if it's good I'm getting it on PS4 instead because my computer is a potato.
Lars Van Craenem your pc when you buy it:OH NUUUU IM GONNA CRASH
Sure
Remember what they took from you.
Here's me watching this again. It found a permanent spot in my Watch Later playlist, which I reserve for videos I absolutely love watching over and over and over again.
Do it right. Take the time you need. I have infinite patience when developers take the time to make a masterpiece for all generations.
Same
They need to take notes from Hello Games. NMS had a pretty bad launch, they bounced back. NMS is one of my all time favorite games now. If Private Division can do this. I have no doubt KSP 2 will be the best Space Exploration game to ever exist.
@@dirtytreerat14 I played it at launch and was disappointed, played it a few years ago and enjoyed it and then again maybe like a year or two ago with my friends. Tried to get back into it again recently but discovered that they practically ruined the game with an extremely stupid update. You can now, at ANY TIME, just press a button that gives you infinite money as well as a bunch of other free shit. Like... what's even the point of playing? Such a dumb decision to make. Having creative mode and shit be separate gamemodes was good because at least once you're locked in then that's it, you can't change that save file. But now there's literally no point in doing anything if you can just achieve everything you want in the settings MID-GAME. Was so annoyed with it when I heard about it.
@@user-jc7zf7zr4v I have idea what you mean by infinite money

Without a shadow of a doubt, this trailer has made me the most excited for a game I have ever been in my life.

agreed
Cinematic. its no gameplay graphic.
Strap on MOAR BOOSTERS! It's going to be a ride!
I thought it was pretty wack.
4 years later
oh what could have been
this remains my favorite game trailer of all time
same. Goosebumps every time
imagine waiting your entire life to fly to the moon, and falling off the rocket when you get there
I would lmao haha
not to mention your lander fall over so you probably have to spend the rest of your life with the moon.(We all know this game's name is Kerbal Sacrifice Program)
Still worth, easily.
it's Jebedaiah. he enjoys every moment of it!
Best experience ever
Im not crying, i just have a rocket stuck in my eye
same :')
Better get it out of there man, those things usually have sharp stuff on them.
This game is going to be SO good. I just hope they milk post and polish the sh*t out of it so it doesn't flop like Cyberpunk
Same 😢🚀
Lol xD
You need an actual NASA supercomputer to run this game
or a 3060
The fact that the cinematic trailer is so close to what they have teased is amazing
I’m fairly sure they have stated that every part in the trailer is a real part in the game!
@@adamkerman475 It literally says "Not actual gameplay" in text on the screen at the beginning. Bruh.
@@lepperkin I'm aware of that but what I meant was that every "part" you see in the trailer represents a part that will exist in the real game.
@@lepperkin Not actual gameplay, but still an accurate representation of said gameplay through the graphics and the individual parts shown within the trailer. Unlike Clash of Clans or Raid Shadow Legends whos trailers doesn't show the gameplay accurately in favor of looks.
And now the game is out and it sucks
I've been playing KSP since v0.17 in my high school time and it basically sparked my interest in rocket science. I am now in master studies in aerospace engineering and all that is thanks to KSP.
Beautiful story
Congrats on the masters. Keep working at it👍

soon , you will work on lunar or mars mission ...please , share a video of your progress one day

@@Xydonus I haven't played KSP 1, but my understanding is that it was already a pretty intensive game. KSP 2 is going to probably be significantly more intensive than KSP 1, just because of the way things work in game sequels.
