@tgsoutdoors I would love a video on options to adjust older guns. I own a few Japanese O/Us but I’m 6’4”. I’d like to lengthen the stock either in a removable fashion so it can go back to original or in a nice way i.e pad options or a wood extension. Love your attitude on using and enjoying the not as mainstream guns, they are beautiful in their own way.

Yet again a very entertaining video Jonny (and Sash). You have given me the inspiration to mess around with an old Webley 410 bolt action where I have refinished the stock totally and polished a few bits and fitted a rubber recoil to extend it somewhat., Still has patina but looks 100% better and have had a few positive comments. Keep up the fantastic work and hope to meet you in person at some point. Well done.

I think you should thin out the grip cap into a nice white stripe and put on some ebony (or something black) to match the recoil pad. And then do the comb work you want, I'd love to see what all you could come up with at the end.

JC, get yourself a farrier rasp, Heller makes a nice one. Just watching at the 12:17 mark and noticed that you are using a much smaller rasp. They are wonderful for heavy stock removal and leave a fine finish to boot, and have a coarse/fine side. I make infill planes, and use these farrier rasps all the time to shape ironwood, walnut, and "shatter" happy woods. they are very gentle, highly recommend. Unsolicited advice from a stranger...

Gunsmithing video but with your brands unique filmography? We need more of this please? Even if it’s a higher end £1000-2000 gun tarting up. What could you do with an old silver pigeon in a 4 parter, where you actually spend a day on a gun rather than rush?
Lovely video, really enjoyed as always!

Good video pal. I’d like to see what you could do with a full day. Let’s see what you could possibly transform with a low budget, low cost o/u multi choke gun to try and lift it up to more of a match spec gun in a full working day.

Under £100? I'd drop three Benjamins on that gun any day of the week. Neat action; lacking the side lugs of an SKB, so not quite as nice as one of those, but still a nice poor boy's Merkel. Definitely more interesting to look at than another Rizzini/Brescia knock-off.
Given you put that big black extension in there, I would've stuck with black for the grip extension, too.
Looking forward to a follow up on what you do with the comb. Maybe you'll like the end product enough to keep it around for rainy day shoots.

Sadly the cap doesn’t look good at all.
Used to use a true oil finish on mine, but you get a build up eventually, and the shiny craggy finish lost me after a while.
Strip the wood with thinners, steel wool the stock and applied 2 coats each 24 hours apart of Matt finish oil for floorboards that I got from a flooring friend….( ridiculously expensive stuff but free for me ) delicious.
Matt finish that enhances the grain.
Given how the stock looks with the extension and the cap, it’s obviously more functional…. But new custom stock would certainly look better.

@@tgsoutdoors Have you ever thought to use 2? One on your gun and another on your coaches while you shoot the same 10 clay stand? Use the long record option so that you can check up on your hold point and consistency, comparing how you do this to your coach? A nightmare I know, but you would probably be up for it. Also ... have you ever considered getting a forward camera (smart phone ) facing backwards filming how you mount the gun at the same time? Shotkam is GREAT but shooting is about more than lead, and the Proofhouse team look to have the video excellence to show this. Of course, the answer to this is probably no, no and HELL NO, but what the heck, I thought to share a concept and ask a question.
Loving your videos, and this one has inspired me to consider setting up my own workshop, thanks for that (I think)
