@@samsy426 Check 2:25. She has silk wrapped around her leg and arm and using only the torque produced by her core to wrap herself up the silk. It's ridiculously hard and can be really painful when learning since your entire body weight is being supported by two outward points on your body while you are wrapping silk against the force of gravity against yourself to carry yourself up. It puts a lot of pressure on those areas and is a bitch to do.
Jesus I don't do this but damn huge respect for everyone who does that looks like it hurts a hell of a lot and all of you who do this are so strong. Holy shit man talk about a badass.
People better not call these people “girly” or “dumb” for doing this type of dance, it requires a lot of upper body strength, and lower body strength to do all the movements they can do! It seems way harder than actual dancing.
I do it and you are LITTERAlY depending on your arms to hold you up like sometimes 5 to 10 metres of the ground! Thx for knowing this someone who gets it.. it can also hurt depending on what drops and tricks u do so people need to consider this more
@Toffee Carmel find a studio near you that does arial arts! this isn’t really something you can learn on your own, you need to be taught by a professional
Im from europe, and here we have circus universities... I used to do areal silks on a pretty high 'level' (we dont really have competition here, but I used to perform in shows), theres 'circus schools', in which you can specialize in certain techniques, theres conventions where you can meet new artists and train together with people from other countries , and if youre a high enough level you can audition for circus universities, where you not only learn the technique, but also theatre, dance, preformance, muscle buildup, often times an instrument and nect to your technique regular acrobatics as well. Its very intensive, comparable to top sports, nd only few people get in/ can stay. Also the internet is your friend if you wanna learn new/ more complex tricks, make sure to stay safe when experimenting!
I silk dance too! And I love just going on CZcams and watching videos of silk dancing too see if I can do the same as whats in the video (Btw sorry for my English im from Germany)
As an intermediate aerialist, I always wonder about practicalities when I watch professional acts like this. Like, do professionals use a lot of rosin on their hands and feet to get through these difficult routines? How do they not slip in tights? For me, silks are downright dangerously slippery in tights and without a ton of rosin.
Yeah, but actually no, too much rosin can give you too much grip. Last couple of months I was advised to use as little rosin as possible and, though at first I needed more strength, I reallly saw the increasy in dexterity.
Late response, but my guess is just pure muscle. I just tried liquid chalk for the first time in aerial, and I noticed it didn't really effect my grip when you're doing "tricks" that your body is already used to.
Yess that is always what I have the most trouble with!!! I can do the strength tricks but I have so much trouble making the act flow like a "dance." !!!
*When you relise you would be amazing at this because when you where in elementary school you would play on the flipping bars at school (Sort of like the flippy bar thing in gymnastics) and you would do tuns of flips using only your hands/arms an lower/upper body strength*
Wow she changed LOT!! I remember her because in Billie Elish channel or something they were performing together when they were younger so adorable 😱😍😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
holy shit, she still continued after the angel roll up ii would be ded by the first one lol, im literally AMAZED with her pain tolerance i would have cried. The way she was sliding down in the final part hurt me to watch and all the tricks she did there are painful asf she has the biggest pain tolerance and strength ever i LOVE this woman No joke i think im in love
You get flexible while doing it, if you have the motivation to stretch! I used to not be flexible at all, but then I started streching every night before going to bed, cause I wanted the elegance in the silks, and before I knew it I was in oversplits on all sides!
I do aerial silks and it's really hard even tho I'm not as good as her it's still hard and I broke my arm when I fell during practice so people who are this good huge respect go them!
I really want to try this but I’m no where near flexible like these people. But you know what, it’s never too late to try something new. So I might give this shot once I get my life together
did this for a few months when i was 11/12... made barely any progress but i’m incredibly disappointed with myself for believing that age was “too old” and giving up. i’m 19 now... who knows how good i couldve been
I just found out this type of dance exists and I’m impressed with this first video. Also, am I crazy or did she have to adjust to hair hair coming undone? It didn’t look to be part of the routine and I am speculating merely because she didn’t really display it for the audience so it makes me think it wasn’t suppose to happen...
The crowed would be screaming if I did this. mostly because I’d be dead.
I would maybe break 10 back bones
I'd fail so hard my vertibray would pop out of my mouth like a pez dispenser

it doesn't hurt, the strength and resistance on your arms is the hard part

How are you doing today Emily?
Weak

It is. Idk why they would call her dumb.
Thank you! SOMEONE WHO GETS IT
literally. you have to keep yourself on a silk while doing many tricks, which in my opinion, is way harder than normal dancing.
Judgy Judy dunno why anyone would call it dumb...

Beautiful routine, and two ankle hangs in one routine incredible but ouch
I don't know how she managed to do that
How are you doing today
3:01, I got a mini heart attack😂😂

That’s how you feel when you do that. 😂
Trust me, that's the safest part of the whole coreography

That one hurts dude
Lol that’s how I feel when I actually do it, you often get really bad whiplash ahah
The first time I practiced Aerial Silks it HURT. It pulled and stretched my skin and it was burning
you were probably not wearing layers that covered your arms/legs
Wow! just WOW! I've been doing aerial for around a year now and thought I was pretty good but after seeing this..... daaaaang. huge respect.
She must have been doing it for many years.

Where do you even learn some of the moves? I can only dream of being this good
Hard work, doing a TON of random stuff, and classes. (I do silks and stuff, and that’s what I did)

She amazing ,she does it so elegant and smooth. Magnificent
it's all fun and games until the silk begins to rip
Edit: I made this as a joke and now I’ve caused a debate
That wouldn’t happen lol
As a professional aerialist I can tell you, that never happens. I have never ever heard of it.
Sidnee Wilkinson why?
Sidnee Wilkinson what the hell? I have competed in leagues with this woman! Are you kidding me?!
😂😂😂 omg no
It's not made of thin silk. It's strong durable material. They made sure of that you idiot. Lol

I loved that part

I really wish I could learn this, but I’m really weak and uncoordinated, so I’d probably hang myself by accident or slip and crack my skull open 😵
The amount of leg and upper strength for this I'd amazing
Hands down one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen in my life
I love how her hair gradually fell out XD

wow, I love how there aren't just cool tricks, there's plenty of dance and other performance aspects
somehow the whole thing didnt flow, the tricks were awsome but not elegant, didnt match with the song. Great armstrength too though

I want to do this but I am definitely not this flexible...but it’s cool and I’ll see if I can get some lessons because it seems awesome
